Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

Just finished Drake's Deception. I can see why it's considered not quite as good as Among Thieves, because story-wise it kinda dragged in parts (mainly during the detour with the boat which seemed to serve no purpose at all) and didn't really have any kind of "final battle" to speak of, but it was still insanely epic, fun to play and beautiful to look at. Easily the 2nd best of the franchise thus far, at least.

Guess there's nothing left to do now but start replaying the 1st two. Since I only played them for the first time on PSNow quite recently, I'll be curious to see how noticeable I find the "remastered" enhancements to be.

yeah, the lack of a boss battle was a deal breaker for me.

the graphics were mindblowing though
 
I feel like I'm coming close to the end of Among Thieves, i can't tell if its around the same length as its predecessor even longer.

[BLACKOUT]nope. just a cutscene where she dies. there's a qte battle with talbot, but it isn't a boss battle.

what would've been a boss battle is the giant lamp/bottle that has a genie in it. if nathan shot it and the genie came out & you would've fought it, THAT would've been an epic boss battle[/BLACKOUT]

Longer for sure. And Drake's Deception is even longer than that.
 
And Uc4 will be the first (and maybe even last) in the series to get story dlc

So as you know I'm still pretty new to this stuff. I know DLC's are extras you can download, but what would a typical "story DLC" consist of? Is that like an added sidequest/subplot or something?

How did you find the game performance wise?

As it currently stands, I am getting extremely annoyed at the game. Animations feel off, more than they did in Drake's Fortune and Among Thieves. The combat is feeling clunkier than it did on the PS3 - which is odd because supposedly, they did fix it from the clunkiness it was on PS3 - and visually I am finding chunks of the game taking their time to load in, especially when sliding down cables.

I'm half way through, on the ships, and it's just.. Poor. The controls are not responding well, Nate is often missing jumps when I know for a fact my jumps were just fine. I'm finding the camera is often snapping into positions I do not want it in and Nate sometimes starts going in the opposite direction I am holding the stick.

It always a bit glitchy even on the PS3, but it's starting to feel the move to PS4 has broken more of the game than ever before.

Apparently before it was even released, the game had major issues with game breaking glitches later in the game with weeks to go before shipping to stores. I'd have expected them to have gone over it with a fine comb and finally touch up the issues to make it at least as polished as the other two. So far, it feels like they've put so much focus on Uncharted and Uncharted 2 that Uncharted 3 just isn't up to par and feels worse off for the remaster.

It is disheartening because apart from these issues, I'd have said it were my favourite of the three. But it's just not up to standard at all. Maybe I expect too much, but after Drake's Fortune and Among Thieves, it feels like Uncharted 3 was sloppy and in need of some major refinements and polish that they haven't bothered with for the remaster.

it really depends on the game. It could be something that comes available right in the middle of a campaign, or after the main campaign's been beaten, or something that's separate from the campaign that you choose to play from the main menu.

For naughty dog, it's the latter. The last time they did a story dlc was for tlou, which was left behind. It was a prequel story that was completely separate fr the campaign; you elected to play it when it was presented at the main menu apart from the regular campaign

I wouldnt say it was completely seperate from the campaign. I guess according to your definition there, but it was took place during the events of TLoU in addition to having flashback sequences in the past. It was a prequel and a continuation of the TLOU story, letting us play a lost chapter from the campaign so to speak

it's separate from the campaign in that it isn't part of it. if you bought the dlc and you boot up the game, in the main menu you choose whether to play left behind or the campaign. it's not like buying the dlc adds it to the events of the campaign. some games do, but tlou doesn't. so it depends on the individual game
 
Beat Drake's Fortune last night on Crushing. Such a pain in the ass in some areas. Of course I stuck to the corner trick and changing shoulders when aiming at enemies.

The most painful ones were clearing an ENTIRE area, but one last guy who's hiding somewhere or flanks you randomly kills you and you have to start the entire thing over again. I'm going for Brutal mode and I hear that's 2 shots and you're dead with minimal ammo. Should be entertaining. :funny:

Apparently I can use a pre-order bonus with 2 Golden Guns to refill my ammo from the pause and bonus menu so that should help. But I still hear it's rough. I'd prefer to 100% DF before jumping into the next one :up:

Well I don't know how it played on PS3, but it seemed pretty smooth to me on PS4. The only part that gave me issues was the shipyard level. There was definitely some glitchiness there.
 
Played the first two so far. Haven't come across any bugs. I've played all three games countless times on the PS3, and while I didn't have any complaints then, I have found the remastered versions to have noticeably improved and smoother game play.
 
Beat the first two games. Loved them, my only gripe about the first is how short it was, no issues with the second really. Just started the third, really digging it so far.
 
Brutal difficulty is like the ultimate troll move by a developer. 2 shots and your dead and there are moments in (the first game at least) the game where you spawn enemies and are immediately fired upon with a very small window to reach cover or defend yourself, so it's automatic death 9 out of 10 times.

It took me maybe 20 or so attempts to get past the first checkpoint in the Jeep section with Elena because enemies taking me out as soon as we left the Fortress area. And another area where you have to spawn the next wave of enemies by running up some steps exposed to gunfire and then they shoot you from behind took me another 30 minutes I think. Ugh. I don't know why I do this to myself. This difficulty feels more broken than brutal or challenging.

Funny thing is, I'm using an exploit for infinite ammo and one-shot kills, and *still* dying multiple times left and right.
 
LOL, it probably IS a troll setting, JaD. Let it go before it drives you mad! ;)
 
I only try very hard difficulty settings like Brutal once I know a game forwards and backwards. Setting it to that difficulty on your first playthrough is just begging the game to make you its *****.

i showed my cousin the trailers and he just could not believe that it was gameplay (because of how goddamn real it looked)
