You guys think Ann Weying will ever appear on the show?

I'm surprised she wasn't in it from the beginning, so she can leave Eddie towards the end of the season thus adding to his bitterness.

I hope she never appears, since she was a pathetic attempt to retcon. I think somehow, sometime, Gwen will HAVE to die, and that Brock will take that hard, and it'll re-inforce his rage against Peter. Just coz Peter is an insensitive adolescent is no reason for a sustained hatred... even if Brock is a little psycho.

well we will see next week or the following week if they plan to do symboite gives new host past host memories or not. Personally i would like if it does give brock peter's memories but twist things around and maniuplates him and makes his anger grow deeper and stronger.

Brock's memories and mentality is already going a little coo-coo. All the symbiote needs to do is attached it's resent at being rejected, and boom, instant classic Venom.

And Ann is a good concept for Venom, but like everything else about him she just wasn't executed right (literally, having her suicide because of Spidey was just a lame way of giving Eddie a REAL reason to hate Spidey and it didn't work because her suicide was again Brock's own fault!).

We'll have to agree to disagree here. Ann added nothing to Brock. ASM 375 (I think) where Anne "opens Venom's eyes" to Spidey's heroics, was a horrid issue. Her transformation into she-venom, her suicide, all were horrid, pointless stories.
Brock is just a weak, pathetic character. It's ok, the real world is full of them.

As for Gwen not dying... something has got to happen. maybe not this season, but at some point she has to die. It's a pivotal moment in Spider-man's history, and one of the things that makes Spidey become a man and not just a kid playing "Dress up".

It would also add a great dynamic to the Spidey/Peter and Venom/Eddie bitterness.

Nothing wrong with correcting Venom's character by connecting him to other chars and villains. I mean, no one had a problem with how Ock and the Goblin were connected in Ultimate, or how Ock was the Mastermind of Ultimate Clone Saga.

So having Venom be affected also by Gwen's death won't hurt anything, except to the diehard fanatics who also despise Venom.

I'm sure the Symbiote will give Brock past memories. It's a feature that every incarnation of venom has had so far.

Ultimate is... different Perharps that if Eddie took the suit Peter wore, he would have his memories? There is also the fact that each and every bit of the suit has the same effects, whatever the quantity you touch : the full pot for Eddie or just a spoon for Peter. The thing spreads on the body quickly, "eating" it and growing...

Exactly. The character has much more potential, he can be better than Ock or Goblin, though his haters would disagree but whatever. The thing is part alien - part human, imo he can be villain that can present ultimate threat to Spidey. Think about it, a an alien whose lived for thousands of years and gained unsurpassed knowledge only to share it with a insane power seeking human being; that would be a stellar villain. If they made Brock a power hungry fellow that is, I would have no problem in completely revamping Brock for the better.

If they made Venom a char that was simply "What if a guy who got ***** on his entire life but had no good parents or upbringing got Peter's powers?" and had him become Spidey's enemy the same way Ock and Goblin did (he was in their way) he'd have worked out better.

IE, do what SM3 did and make Eddie Brock into the Anti-Parker.

Having him be a villain whose one and only purpose was to kill Peter but had nothing else just made him boring after his first few stories.

So broaden his ambitions.

It's perfect. The Spider is the only thing that's slightly different.
But he looks menacing and like a SERIOUS threat. I love it when I see a bad guy that I would never would to fight.

If that pic is from Intervention (which it should be; why would TV Guide preview episode 12 with an episode 13 pic?), then we're going to get Venom as soon as this Saturday. We can see then how dark the theme of the next next episode will be.
