I didn't see this, I will hold out until its on DVD in a few months or dollar theaters, which will probably be here in by the beginning of January.
But that Box Office is abysmal! It's very sad to see any comic property make so little money.

You could make a differance by seeing it now.![]()
Haha
With such bad reviews I'm not willing to risk the 9 dollars and gas to maybe be entertained.
A certain good word of mouth is taking place.Do to the horrible opening I could see it not dropping horribly this weekend though.
Where did you get the impression I was talking about only the fans? The majority outside of your little pocket universe here has brushed the movie aside as "bad." There's no arguing against that.

so if we're not talking about the fans and we're not talking about the critics, then who exactly are we talking about? the public? just because a movie doesn't perform well doesn't instantly make it "bad."

Not to menion, if we go by the only indicators available to us (ie. movie website polls), it has fared much better than anyone could've expected. We can't just argue that the public has brushed it aside, when the majority of moviegoers probably weren't even aware it was released. The tracking numbers revealed that awareness was not very high among the general public.

...well, it's up to 20% at Rotten Tomatoes.A certain good word of mouth is taking place.
You ain't kiddin'. I asked my cousin on Sunday that if he had already seen it, and he was like "oh, it's out already?" Hopefully more word will spread.
I would be one of those people. I think the reasoning behind that is those of us who hated it before going into it went in with very low expectations. Those who went in with high expectations and pumped for it may have been disappointed in the end. I enjoyed it. I think I still prefer the 2004 one more, but I've had almost 5 years of getting into it more and more. It's funny how some of the people on these boards that were going to hate this film ended up liking it and some of the people who thought they were going to love it, hate it with a passion.![]()

We're including fans, critics, and the typical theater goers in general. That's why I said:
Now we'll scout for the ratings at one of the most fruitful () and credible critic archives. Check out the "T-Meter Critics" and "Top Critics" pages:
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/punisher_war_zone/
T-Meter Critics: 20%
Top Critics: 6%
Why am I choosing to cite those two categories instead of the RT Community? A couple of reasons. One being that RT Community census is open for any Tom, Dick, or Harry to come and rate or review. As in IMDB or Yahoo fan ratings, there's a likelihood of sock puppets, that allow for one person to register multiple accounts and boost or lower the ratings of a film. There's no credibility there. Second of all, an average person very often relies on their favorite critic to determine whether they'll see a movie or not. Yes, critics' opinions of a movie have a tendancy to sway the majority's view (there are exceptions, but few and far between). That's why so many movie trailers use quotes of praise from critics. Also keep in mind the sheer exposure of these reviews, ranging from newspapers, TV spots, internet articles spanning several websites, etc. So these negative reviews are reaching that average person.
a friend of mine who is in no way shape or form a Punisher fan saw it yesterday and thought it was bad ass :-/
