By the way, my wife likes Nicholas Cage for Holmes. She`s a little new to the character, but once I stopped laughing I figured I`d throw it out there. Flame away.

Where did my last post go? Everything is acting funny on this thread.

Hello to you all. This is my first post, though I have been lurking the board for years.

I`ve also been following the deveopment of this movie for a while now and I have a few thoughts.

I am not really thrilled with the choice of RDJ for Sherlock Holmes. I think he will put a good take on the character, but he is absolutely not who I would cast. Holmes was described as being 6 foot 2 and so thin that he appeared even taller. I also don`t think RDJ personality is quite right either.

I have a few suggestions for Sherlock that I am going to throw out there just for the fun of it.

First, and this is sort of out of left field, I would like to see Crispin Glover in the role of Holmes. To me, he has the look and is eccentric enough. With a good director to reign him in a little, I think he could be very good.

Someone mentioned Adrien Brody earlier, and I could see him being rather effective.

Does anyone think Kyle MacLachlan would be a good choice? I think he could do it, but he`s a little old. He`s 50 (I didn`t realize he was that old, man does time fly) but he looks younger.

Johnny Depp would be pretty good, too. He`s already done several roles that were similar to Holmes, most notably in ``Sleepy Hollow``. I have a few problems with him, mainly that he`s almost too obvious, but I have to admit that he would be a good Holmes.

Being that as it may, we got RDJ, and I`m looking forward to this movie. Holmes has been one of my favorite characters since I was a boy, almost to the point of obsession at times. And I have to agree with those of you who liked ``Young Sherlock Holmes``.

I've noticed that your other choices are all american. well, besides RDJ of course.

On another note, Upcoming Film Scores announced that Hans Zimmer will compose the score for Sherlock Holmes. It was added to the composer's official filmography at the Gorfaine-Schwartz website, so it's legit.

Haha. I said we were owed this after most of our icons being played by Aussies and Brits, so I have no qualms with his Yank choices. :oldrazz: The only one I would choose opposed to Downey is Brody as he mentioned.

^ That he most definitely is. I LOVED him as Sorter in Revolver. He was great in Stardust, too. Pretty much everything about that movie achieves greatness.

Yeah, Strong has really stood out in everything that I've seen him in. He's fast becoming one of my favorite actors.

Stardust - totally badass but also very funny. Also made me think he'd make a great Artemis Entreri if they ever decide to adapt RA Salvatore's Drzzt books into a film series.

Sunshine - scary as hell

Body of Lies - brilliant performance as a Jordanian

RockNRolla - again, total badass but also with great comic timing

Revolver - didn't really like the film, but Strong was great

Never posted in the thread, but I'm excited to see Sherlock Holmes according to Guy Ritchie. Should be very interesting.

Those pictures are fantastic! We need a trailer ASAP.

are we gettting a trailer anytime soon?

I imagine either this month or in June. I don't think they will want to miss out on advertising a big event film like this during the summer action movies.

Good point. I can't wait to see it. I wonder if Moriarty will be present in the movie in any way (hinted at or set up for the next one maybe ? Hugh Laurie would have been a great Holmes and he would also be a great Moriarty imo. Not that I have any complaints with RDJ casting.)

Hail Strong!

He also was in only 2 scenes in Syriana, he did pull out George Clooney's fingernail in one of 'em. So it's all good.

I never really think in term of ''I want THAT actor to work with THAT director'' but Mark Strong in a Nolan movie would be pretty awesome. A Batman villain maybe? :wow::up:

Entertainment tonight premiered snippets from the trailer and says that they they will have the full trailer up on monday as well as an exclusive interview with Guy Ritchie and Robert Downey Jr.

^ Thanks for posting the link.

Beautiful and smart, I love Rachel McAdams.

"My name is Rubber Ducky Jr..."

I lolled.

Damn... I didn't know that was him in Syriana, but I loved that movie.

Hmmm... Strong as a Bat-villain would be great. Who could he play, though?

^ Basically the actors talking about the movie a bit.

Blackwood is supposed to be based on notorious satanist and occultist Allistair Crowley, I wonder if there'll be supernatural elements in the film ?
