So how is this doing box office wise? Hopefully it will become a great success for Ritchie...so the studio's will let him do The Real RocknRolla!!!!!!!!!!

I heard it wasn't gonna happen at all because the philistines all over the world didn't go see RocknRolla! :argh:

Considering some of the questionable **** Butler has been in lately, I think he is not in any position to be like, "nah, I'm not gonna do that."

It's doing fantastic. Looks like Downey's got his wish and this will become a franchise

It opened to $25 million yesterday. That's fantastic.

We're gonna leave in a little bit. I'm really looking forward to it.

Glad to hear that this is doing well at the box office. I really hope it turns into a franchise. As I understand it, the budget was only about $80 million, and with a $25M opening day, it should have no problem making its money back.

Well Hearing the Numbers for Friday it could be looking at a 70 Million Dollar Weekend. That is Fantastic considering that its budget is only 80 million.

This is the first time in a while when a bunch of blockbusters have released close together and there weren't any serious bombs.

It's a fantastic movie, I'm glad it's doing so well, I'd love to see another one especially since they set up a sequel so nicely, 25M opening is excellent!!!:awesome::up:

I LOVED THIS MOVIE!:wow: Sorry about the caps lol. :yay: I am alot like Sherlock Holmes. I am not as deductive as him, but his personality I match to a T. His eccentricness, his methodical behaviour, and the way he will shut him self off from everyone for hours and days and focus on one thing. His blunt nature, and everything between, yeah, that's me. So, I immensly enjoyed watching this film. Can't wait to see the next one.

Oh, and the soundtrack was amazing. Hans Zimmer did a fantastic job. The slightly off kilter arrangment and sound it had fit Sherlock perfectly.

The explosion at after they went to get Adler was amazing. I was on the edge of my seat!

i don't understand the mildly mixed reviews for this movie. can someone here who has seen the movie explain to me? I'm gonna see it on monday.

Let me preface this. This movie is one of those stories where you latch onto the chemistry between Sherlock and Watson and the story becomes less than important.

So I think, if you take the movie as a whole, (villain, supporting characters, mystery) I can see where people would be less than impressed.Ritchie doesn't pull off a perfect juggling act to keep all these things as interesting as the Watson/Holmes relationship.

The story
Holmes and Watson interrupt a black arts ritual being performed by Lord Blackwood. Blackwood is hanged but before that, declares to Holmes that he will return and kill three people. Blackwood does set out to kill those three and creating a sense of fear in England. Holmes won't accept it. All this is going on as Watson is preparing to leave 221B to wed a woman named Mary and Holmes simply keeps trying to find to cause a break-up between solving the case, even as a former thief and flame, Irene Adler comes into the picture with a mystery of her own.

Very enjoyable. Downey and Law were aces as Hell. I actually prefer him as Holmes than Iron Man. Yeah, I went there. Also surprised how one-note and Meh a villain Mark Strong was. Looking forward to the sequel.

FNJ, did you see a similarity between this and Wild Wild West mixed with Batman Begins?

No. But it had the same problem as Iron Man (which I liked, but didn't love). Both films flat out abruptly end.

this movie can not fail. the trailer looks way to fun
