No. But it had the same problem as Iron Man (which I liked, but didn't love). Both films flat out abruptly end.

That's true. There was a collective WTF from my audience. Never felt that before.

But I kept getting the feeling that this is what Silver was trying to get with Smith and Kline in terms of how the characters played off one another except Will Smith's acting style doesn't allow for that. I kept waiting for the giant spider to attack Big Ben.

that's weird. [BLACKOUT]I though there was one with Moriarty. [/BLACKOUT]

He's all throughout the film. Albeit hidden in the shadows.

There is no end credit sequence. Dammit.

I loved it. All I can say is bring on the sequel. I think this is among RDJ's best roles. He is as good, if not better than his Tony Stark. He deserves the Golden Globe nomination.

Okay before I write my review, here are the things I loved:

First off, how ****ing brilliant Holmes was. HIs disguises, his wit, everything about him.

And my favorite shot had to be when Holmes disguised himself to follow Adler and he took the hat, tipped it, and the camera tipped with it. :wow:

And that whole scene was brilliant.

And aces on Robert's part for playing the doctor. It took me a few moments to know it was him. :wow:

Jude Law was great as Watson. I have to say, without him, RDJ's Holmes wouldn't be as delightful. They just compliment eachother.

Agreed in full. Such a great movie.

Hey, does anyone know where I can find an image of

Moriarty in the film (in the shadows)?

I'd really like to make an avatar out of that.

dark b, the movie is alot of fun. It's intelligent and exciting. Throw in Guy Ritchie's style and you have a winner.

i like a lot Ritchie's movies.

will take a lot of friends with me in januar. need to whait grrrrrrrrrrrr :cmad:

I really liked this film, but I'd have to say it's Ritchie's weakest. I don't mean that as a bad thing, though.

8/10

Correction: Weakest of the Ritchie films I have seen.

Here's my review from the last movie watched thread in case anyone didn't read it.

Sherlock Holmes - 9/10

Guy Ritchie was born to direct Sherlock Holmes. Wait, really? Why? But not the Sherlock Holmes you're thinking of. This new one. Perhaps it's the only version today that could work without treading old ground. All that goes into the cauldron is a great script, better dialogue, (perhaps Robery Downey Jr.'s old improv) a hint of good action, and a style that is Ritchie's own. But it's too good to keep in. It just bursts out onto the wall. Things are changed, but for the best. But in all, the spirit of the character is still there, found in the brilliance of Robert Downey Jr.'s delightful performance as the great detective. This is, with confidence, one of his best roles. Just as good as Tony Stark, Charlie Chaplin, Paul Avery (hell, I'll just be listing off all the other characters he's played because he's brilliant in all of them). His accent is flawless. Seriously, what can't this man do? Just when you think he can play a billionaire superhero with wit and charm, he can play the world's greatest detective with wit in charm. But in a whole different way.

Now Jude Law's Dr. John Watson, whose casting I had some reluctance with. But he ended up being one of my favorite changes to the history of Holmes. He is no longer the bumbling fool who is put there to make Holmes look good. Here is he is every bit of Holmes equal. Using his own skills, he is capable and I must say a very intrigueing character. Downey Jr.'s performance would not been as delightful without Law's Watson. Law plays Watson with such freshness and sturdiness, it makes him the perfect match for Downey Jr.'s Holmes. They compliment eachother, which therefore are equal. They aren't anything without the other, as is part of the plot. Their chemistry is fantastic. With great humor that comes out of it. It would of been either the downfall or triumph of this film. Thankfully it's the latter. Their relationship, is not one of homosexual undertones, (no please, don't try to go there) I simply see Holmes and Watson with a close brotherly bond. With Holmes going through osr of an empty nest syndrome if you will. His reluctancy for Watson to move on with his life. You could say Watson feels they same way a bit.

Rachel McAdams Irene Adler is, thankfully a strong character without having to resort to a lovey dovey cliched relationship with Holmes. She is simply Holmes's other sex match. Is Holmes a sexist? In the books he is, but here I think he regards women (except Adler) as uninteresting and unstimulating. Which channels through his "romantic" tension with Adler. Don't worry, it's not like the trailers and spots tried to make out this relationship to be. It's a flirtation, but not overdone, but done in a way that's satisfying and acceptable to Holmes's demeaner.

The plot itself, same as the mystery is strong and interesting. It keeps you wondering and intrigued. Although Lord Blackwood's scenes could of been a bit stronger, Mark Strong manages.

Now one of the standout's to the film is the aesthetic. The cinematography and London itself is beautiful in a dark, dank, and gritty way. It has this texture to it. It's tangible. You can just smell it and feel it. It's not friendly, but hell, I would like to walk its streets for a day. Maybe the thought of meeting Holmes or Watson on those streets makes it more interesting.

Hans Zimmer's score is bizarre and quirky, so you could say it's a nice suitable fit for this film and this vision of Holmes.

Highly enjoyable and intelligent, Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes" is something I will be definitely be checking out again. But before I do, I am anxiously awaiting the sequel, just as Holmes is anxiously awaiting it as well.

I thought Sherlock Holmes was fantastic. The chemistry between Downey and Law was just electric.

It's funny how so many more people are raving about the chemistry between Holmes and Watson than between Holmes and Adler. :funny:

Rachel, the chemistry between them was good enough, but if it went any further, it would of been the typical love interest relationship you see in other films. It was an intelligent flirtation and an admiring one. Least that's how I see it.

I liked how
Holmes and Adler's relationship is underplayed and not straight up romantic like not giving her a last kiss. And I was surprised to see that lingerie scene cut. I guess it was for the better.

I also loved Holmes not giving a last witty one liner to Blackwood after he said his lines when he was hanged at the end. Just a lasting stare.

Jeez, as much as we complain about reboots, all of them have worked out pretty damn well.

So who played Moriarty?

they really cheated us in not giving some sort of superstar cameo reveal. I was expecting Russell Crowe or something to show up at the end.

It was rather deflating we didn't get an awesome cameo for Moriarty.

But who was the voice and who was the man in the shadows?

Downey and Law were both great in their respective roles. I enjoy them both in this almost more than I ever have. The scenery was fantastic and I love how the setting were implemented into the film . I'd really like to see the sequel and perhaps a trilogy.

Loved it. If there's one thing Joel Silver is good at, it's producing wonderful buddy action comedy.

I was surprised at how good it is, and hope WB says no to Lobo and fast tracks a sequel. As I hate set up for sequel that never come(Flash Gordon, Big Trouble in Little China, ect, ect)

I'm pretty sure they're the same, but can someone tell me what song played during the bare knuckle boxing scene and the end credits?
