Wasting Venom?

dude just read the Q&A, & i'm not movie expert nor do i work on the movie but this seems very very fake, for me what gave it away the most was how much he knew about the film and alot of the way it develops (like harry's death) & yet he had no clue their was a 4th villain?? & yet according to arad we're supposed to be really suprised by the reveal of it??, this guy would definetly know about something as big as that.

while everything may not seem very detailed, he was still dead on with almost everything so far. and he didn't mention a 4th villain cause he wasn't ASKED. he was only asked about brock/venom, sandman, and harry/GG.

and as far as we know, this 4th villain could turn out to be the black spidey or something. we don't know yet.

you know what though that's what makes venom such a great character, he IS parker, he's the evil version of spider-man and parker is the person brock wants to be! & i feel this is what the movie is going to aim for the paralllels with brock and parker, i just wish that they do the same with venom & spider-man, thats why i don't want him for 10 lousy (or spectacular minutes)....give me 120 LOUSY (AMAZINGLY SPECTACULAR) minutes

I guess so, but i dont' think thats where this franchise is heading... this would make for a good movie, but Raimi is telling us a story (well 3 stories) of Peter Parker and his growth as Spiderman and his growth as a human being.. and i think he is doing an amazing job. Although its cool, your idea only deals with Peter and one of his villains, not Peter's growth

I understand where your coming from, but firstly surely the most repetitive move for this film would be bringing back in my opinion a pretty crappy villain (Green Gob), ye i know it's a diff man in the suit but essentially it will be the same, him riding around on the glider, pumpkin bombing the crap out of everyone.

And also when i say venom i mean venom not brock, I have no doubt brock will be utilised to the extreme showing his struggle and torment with parker, but what about his struggle with venom and coming to terms with being a schizophrenic murderer. I'm simply saying for a film with venom as the villain to work you need the whole film to properly characterise him, not 10 mins at the end.

the GG doesn't count.

1 -- it is a different man under the suit (a different suit, btw).
2 -- that man is HARRY, peter's best friend! which is what makes it so much more dramatic and the story so interesting.

exactly.

here we go:

1 -- nobody's "ready to move on" to SM4 already. we're just saying that having venom in this fiom AND the next is too much similarity and that we'd rather have a fresh villain.

2 -- it may be a short climax, but it will be SWEET. venom's not only about fighting. his STORY is what makes him great. and in this film, we'll see eddie brock struggle throughout the movie, hating park and spider-man, until the means to fight him fall right into his lap. it will all add up perfectly.

That's understandable, but ten minutes?? It better be a SEXY ten minutes...

sorry, was that agreeing with me?

wait got it wrong post, scrap it

i was agreeing with -Z-, who said what i quoted.

if we're going with this Q&A then it claims that the majority of the story is about spider-mans choices with the symbiote on, what says more about growth than being forced to make the choices & fight against yourself to maintain the idea of 'great power, great responsibilty' i think the black symbiote is the ultimate metaphor of growth and im sure that's what they will explore...im hoping at least:spidey:

That's exactly what they're doing.... but for Peter, not Brock

people just need to stop worrying about venom's "10 minutes". the more you worry about him being in the movie longer, or being in the next movie, or having his own spin-off, the more you'll be disappointed by SM3!

it's gonna be a great film. just have faith in the filmakers to deliver us a great story. because that's what they're gonna do.

Think of it this way. If Tohper is awful as Brock, you'll only have to suffer through a crappy Venom for 10 minutes. I am not saying Venom will suck. I am more excited about the GG2 story in this movie than anything else.

well...glad we agree...but don't you think that brock would be used for me than to simply create another villain...and not mirror peter parker's life, seeing as they went for a similarly looking brock to peter, and not the body builder in the comics?

I think they are using Brock as a mirror to Peter, along with being another villain...

- Similar looking as you said, relatively same size

- They both work at the Bugle, working for the top spot

- Since I think Brock is going to be in love with Gwen, or maybe MJ who knows, they'll both be competing for the same girl or a girl

- They're both struggling to get through life

I think it's cool that Raimi sorta mixed the 2 versions of Venom, 616 and Ultimate, together and made his own Brock...or is this way strictly Ultimate?

dude couldn't agree with you more, i have 100% faith in raimi as I have loved his approach to spider-man and I knew from the start that the creator of Ash will not steer the movie wrong, I only question the 10 minute theory as i want to know fan's motives for being happy with that formula (even though i feel thats not how it will go).

thats not how what will go?

I am waiting and hoping he impresses me. Like everyone here knows, I am against his casting of the role, but I am willing to see what he does.

gvcool2 said:
that venom will be in it for only 10 minutes

oh...you mean you still don't believe he'll be in it for 10 mins?

cause it's safe to say he will.

gvcool2 said:
doubt it because then brock would be peters high school friend and that hasn't been mentioned at all before and would just seem weird putting him in now. He was also not a photographer

p.s. lol & had cancer

Well it's at least a minor mix considering Eddie's not jacked and is more like Peter. I know in Ultimate Brock's Peter's highschool friend and the symbiote was an experiment to help cure cancer or somethin like that....

....but as of now we dont' exactly know the origins of the symbiote (prob not ultimate tho) and we dont' know Brock's origins (could be fellow college student, could be newly hired Bugle employee, could be both!) so i think they took pieces of each origin and made their own Brock, maybe not

gvcool2 said:
how safe is that? try me, i'm a pretty dangerous guy

umm...ok. never mind. venom will be in SM4. and have a spin-off.

Lol, of course he will

while thinking about it, I wouldn't mind the symbiote coming from the cancer cure at all, like the rest of the villains in the spider-man movie's it would be based on reality (by that i mean not alien) and giving brock cancer would be another reason to hate life, and get revenge (think jigsaw in saw movies).

That's not a bad idea. I kinda like the symbiote being a mysterious alien/creature though, not man-made

i believe that the Q&A (to the rescue again!) stated that the symbiote comes down to earth in an astroid. and connors works on the sample.

Man-made's so boring tho... so far every villains been a result of man's experiments. I wouldn't mind something different

I think that's where it's comin from, and havin Connors work on it will get him more screentime and get him involved a bit more...

wahey! what about spidey 5? seeing as we're already thinking about no.4 surely we've thought ahead to at least movie 7, where the whole movie is set underwater and venom is played by the olsen twins standing on one anothers heads.

i assume that was meant to be sarcastic? but you kinda lost it towards the end.

anyway, you don't need to think that far ahead. venom won't be in anymore films! it's so easy to figure out! they're not gonna use him again.

the symbiote will be a spider-irradiated booger picked from Peter Parkers nose.
