You still think singer's gonna make it? or another?

Subject question: Where should W.B. go from here?

Answer: to the hell. There is only one hope for dc characters and this hope is WARNER LEAVE THOSE FRANCHISES. Sell them to Sony, Paramount, Universal, Fox, whatever... i bet they will handle much better than Warner.

W.B. has no plans, no idea of what to do.

Batman is a good filme BESIDES W.B.

U should thanks to Nolan, not Warner. He is the real person behind the new batman franchises.

No. If WB can put out an amazing Batman film that gets lots of love from both fans and critics then there is no reason why the same can't happen with Superman. The problem here is that the people behind Batman (Nolan brothers and Goyer) did their homework by reading up on several comics and using some of those storylines to influence their movies. All the people behind Superman did was look at the pretty pictures but never actually bothered to read anything. They were too busy copying lines and scenes from Superman: The Movie.

WB just needs to hire the right people to handle Superman. Someone willing to do some homework. Singer is not the answer.

No, I wasn't being sarcastic.

Why did you put the word movement in quotes then? I thought you were sarcastically referring to the distinct LACK of any movement.

I don't think Warners should be allowed to own DC any more, but I do think that only one film company should own the rights to all of the characters. I wanna see the DC characters share a world on the big screen just like they do in the comics, which for some bizarre reason hasn't happened yet with Warners.

Thats what piss me off more than anything. Warner owns the rights for every single DC character and still does nothing. Not a real plan for them.

Marvel, in the other hand, has issues with this, because the characters goes to several companies. Still, they are doing a fine job on keep essencial characters together for an Avenger movie.

Warner should create a division with a person resposable for move forward DC related projects, able to create a something real. Like Marvel is doing. I dont think this is a high investment for such a company and potential profit they can have.

i think you're right. Wb should assign a people to be incharge solely on these superheroes property and comes out with an practical action plan.

Oh, well, because I believe there is actually movement going on with the sequel, whatever it may be. Plus, I believe it's really moving forward pretty quickly since the announcement of John Williams possibly composing the music for the sequel.

possible, possible... can we have a firm answer? an official statement wouldn't be too much to ask for, right?

As of February 2007 Superman Returns grossed $53,790,000 in DVD rentals.

DVD Sales are listed at $82,262,712 in the U.S.

Merchandising Revenue was more than $60 Million.

Does this include the Ultimate Superman Collection or is it simply the one and two disc Superman Returns DVDs?

I ask because I wonder how many people there are like myself who got the Ultimate Superman Collection to get all the movies rather than just get Superman Returns.

Superman Returns did do incredibly well on DVD, Blu-ray and HD-DVD too, but you have to wonder why the theatrical release was not that spectacular.

I wouldn't want Superman to be like Iron Man, with grinding rock music and lots of humour, but it does need to lighten up and produce something kick-ass. A better movie with more wow; and much better marketing.

the marketing was huge. just that the product didn't live up to the expectation.

DC:
-Catwoman
-Batman
-Superman

- Constantine
- A History of Violence
- Road to Perdition
- V for Vendetta
- Watchmen

WB is producing a lot of comic properties, probably to more critical success than the Marvel films. They're just not producing a lot of well known ones.

...and dumb enough to give Singer complete control.

WB guide to having a succesful Superman film.

1. Get rid of Singer.

2. Get rid of Singer.

3. Get rid of Singer.

4. Get rid of singer

Gawddd dammm its really all that simple.

:D. yo, there you go, buddy!

Discuss DC and WB and a possible sequel or reboot here...

Showtime taking command of these forums with all the bumps and merges.... too bad we won't get an actual movie any time soon.

Trying to stir up some new and fresh debate, this place is stale like yesterday's bread.

Good job Show.

I think the plan should be for WB's to get MOS a release date for summer 2010. As I have said many times before, the MOS story should be a tie in to the eventual or possible JL film which would maybe be released in 2012 or 2013. Have Det John Jones aka Martian Manhunter make a cameo in MOS.

The other two films they should target for release in 2010 is either the Green Lantern film or the Green Arrow Supermax film. Once of them can take over either a May 2010 slot while (MOS would have a July 4th weekend slot) or be be released on the November Thanksgiving weekend slot. Budget discipline needs to me maintained for both films. A GL film would need about 110-120 million and the SuperMax film far less....maybe around 85 million I would think. I actually think SuperMax would be a good fit for maybe the winter of 2011 also with Nolans 3rd Bat film coming out in summer 2011. At the end of the 3rd Bat film there should be some kind of reference made to Superman. My idea would be for Gordon or Alfred mentioning to Batman or Bruce Wayne that reporter(s) (Clark and Lois or maybe just Clark) from Metropolis would like to interview Bruce Wayne. From there the fans and audience in the theaters would love it and eat it up and ending the 3rd Bat film in that way would cause a MAJOR buzz.

Thats what my basic off the top of my head plan would be when it comes to the next Superman and Batman films mainly...

What DC and Warner Bro's need to do its very quickly confirm they have ditched Singer, and explain the furture of the Superman franchise and their thought's going forward. (of course this won't happen)

Singer's name only darkens Supermans reputation. Yes many people liked Returns, some I'm no doubt loved it, but MANY truely hated it.

Now lets compare that to Begins, pretty much everyone LOVED it. Hence TDK is going to be the quickest movie to $400m by about 20 days. Now that is so impressive that its actually hard to believe.

Singers Man of Steel won't even scratch that number never mind get there in record time. Why..?! Cos only some loved his first installment.

Singers Superman sequel will have the same impact as Story's FF sequel, when people really didn't care or particularly like the first, its VERY unlikely they will give the second one a chance or even bother about it. DC and Warners need to reboot in a few years, make sure it absolutely ROCKS and reap the reward from the sequel of that movie.

Another thing, lets be honest Singers sequel (which I'm about 100% will NEVER happen) or a reboot are YEARS away, 2011 or 2012 at the earliest IMO. So will the general public still be hungry for Comic Book movies by then..?! Maybe by that stage they might just be a bit fed up by them.

I personally think Superman has missed its chance within the Comic Book boom thanks to a dreadful movie in the middle of it. Less than $400m for a character as well known as Spider-man after a 20 year gap tells us the public agree with me on the whole. Money talks and Superman making less than half of Spider-man movies is a joke. People didn't like Returns and said so with their wallets.

Singer's Returns wasted any chance of his sequel or reboot (if either happen) ever having anything other than average BO returns.
