We are Amazons!! The Amazonians Casting Thread - Part 1

Oh, SH**. I just realized that I have seen Elena Anaya before.

Gentlemen, if you haven't seen a film called Room in Rome, STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING RIGHT NOW. GO HOME AND WATCH IT. I BELIEVE IT'S STILL ON NETFLIX.

Seriously, you won't be sorry.

Oh ****, I hadn't realized Elena Anaya is the girl from The Skin I Live In. Awesome. Anyone who hasn't seen that, do it ASAP! You will NOT be prepared, lol.

Saw both of these films. I'm telling ya, Anaya is a good casting.

Oh is that her? I didn't realise it was. The activities in that film are probably quite standard behaviour on Themyscira. :o

I didn't realise she's already 40 as well. She seemed younger in that film, which was actually only about 5 years ago.

So is Robin Wright Antiope or Hera? She's certainly not Hippolyta.

And what other Amazons might be in the mix? Is Elena Anaya one?

How about that girl that betrayed them to help Ares escape in the animated WW movie ?

I think she was made specifically for animated movie. And even if Anaya's role is just a similar one, part still seems too small and would be a misuse of her talents, I'd say. I am secretly hoping that she is playing Circe. She'd kill in that role.

Well, obviously literally as well as figuratively. :woot:

If she's a good girl, I think Elena Anaya is Artemis if a villain either Circe or Barbara Minerva. She screams the exotic look Gal has to be an amazon tho.

She's also done some lesbian scenes in Room in Rome, which means that she has the necessary sapphic Themyscirian background.

Will these Amazons be lesbian? or more importantly, will they address that (not necessarily with scenes you pervs)?

I dunno. I think it could be implicit. On an island full of women who have not had any contact with men for centuries, what else have they been doing all this time? Hardly living a life of celibacy.

One of Wonder Woman's catchphrases in the comics did used to be "Suffering Sappho!"

I think we discussed this more than once, so I'll just quickly repeat that I surely want them to find some sort of logical explanation when it comes to Amazons' reproduction.

No way she is Artemis, given that she's 5' 5" and overall of rather small frame.

I do agree that she seems to fit in that same category of "exotic" they were going for with Gadot, though.

Artemis is usually the biggest one. Sorry mate, but I don't think that any amount of heels and angles could help her to get even close to how Artemis is typically portrayed.

Here's her next to Banderas who is quite short himself, only 5' 8" (shorter than Gadot by two inches):

And I'd bet she's wearing some heels here as well.

Again, it's not just a matter of height, she also has rather small body frame.

Not sure what makes you think they'll follow Artemis' usul body frme when it's usually a carbon copy of WW.

That's not to say I think she's Artemis, but none of the discounting reasons are actual reasons.

Well, being one of the strongest and fiercest Amazons is quite a big part of the character, so I think it is quite self-explanatory why I doubt they would cast someone as Anaya for the role, despite them tending to go for out of the box castings here and there.

I'm not saying that they'll surely use that depiction, but I think my reasons to doubt her being Artemis are perfectly legit. There's certainly more reason to doubt it than expect her to play that role, especially since there are other roles from WW comics she would fit much better, not just from visual standpoint, but having in mind her previous work as well.

Well, who is saying Artemis in this world can't be smaller in frame. I mean, Wonder Woman is not as muscular and exaggerated as depicted in the majority of the comics, so.. at least for me he can sure be an Amazon compared to Gal's Wondy and who better than one of the closest sisters from Diana.

If and that's a big if, she isn't Circe or Barbara Minerva. Two options that I can see happening too. We'll see, my love :o

I have no idea who that lady is playing but Hollywood isn't known for caring about exact comic book heights nor should they.

Again, I won't write it off entirely, but I really, really doubt it, as she fits the roles like Circe or Barbara Minerva much more.

Sure thing, sweetheart. :o
