And the Phantom Menace wasn't the start of a new era?

Yeah, the era of Star Wars movies that suck...spideymusprime said:And the Phantom Menace wasn't the start of a new era?

I liked it, I liked it, I just had to make that joke...Cinemaman said:And ROTS was really awesome movie![]()

spideymusprime said:True guys it did suck. But still grossed a whopping 431 mil.
ROBOCOP CPU001 said:To me both..if the movie doesn't proform..no sequel.
Cinemaman said:What is the most important for you? Movie itself or movie's box office numbers?![]()
spideymusprime said:The movie is more important to me sure. But what's wrong with making a prediction that I feel will be correct. People are over-estimating movies like DVC and Pirates and under-estimating Supes. I just don't any factor affecting Returns from getting over a 100 on its OW. Seriously, how can it? If the Hulk can gross 60 million on it's opening weekend, what makes you guys think Supes will open to only 75 million?

But just imagine what if SR made Kong's numbers, what you will think?
Just answer.

Believe it or not, those two things can have a big impact on peoples summer movie habits.
they DO....but in the end you gotta think...DogofKrypton said:2 things jump out right away: 1. Ticket prices 2. Gas prices.

spideymusprime said:Those are very good points but the factors you mentioned usually affect
those average, boring movies. Let's face it. Superman is a blockbuster and the hype is going to be huge come June. People will see Superman regardless of ticket and gas prices. It's not like tickets are really expensive anyway. Come on. I mean who's going to say. 'Oh I'm not going to see Superman because the ticket went up by a dollar'. Everybody movie goer will see Superman Returns on the 4th of July weekend.

...most parents will be taking their children to see the daytime showing (cheaper tickets). gas prices are a different story....everyone's fed up with them, but most people who goto the theater bring 1 or more friends/family members with them and that's sorta like car pooling.
the only things i can see hurting Superman Returns in the box office are...1) people wanting darker heroes now-a-days 2) too many comic book movies being made 3) PotC2
other than that, it should be smooth sailing (er....flying) for Supes!
spideymusprime said:If that happens (which I HIGHLY doubt), I will be ready to eat all the crow pie that will be served to me. Just don't forget to add a little salt.
Call me delusional, call me crazed, call me insane. Superman Returns will gross over 100 million on it's opening weekend. Obviously I will revise my prediction as the days go by. But it will not go below 100 mil.
DogofKrypton said:Actually, those affect all movies. Ticket prices are the number 1 gripe from people I know when it comes to going to the movies. They really are getting out of hand.
And you can't assume gas prices won't be a factor, as they may be near, at least here where I live, $4 or MORE a gallon. Unless everyone has a theater 2 blocks away, it will be in the back of their minds.
spideymusprime said:Yeah, I agree with what you're saying. But who's going to miss Superman due to ticket prices and gas prices? We're talking about a big name here. If there's one movie to see this summer it's Superman!
