Superman Returns We don't like how this movie is looking (merged)

That'd be a good one. If thats not action I dont know what is. Superman vs Rocky.

Overly dramatic story (Ma Kent Dating, Clark/Richard/Lois triangle, etc) can turn of younger audiences
maybe teenagers, but once again...most kids won't care about the story...they'll probably be watching it for Superman and the action. and teenagers now-a-days are growing up with Smallville so they might actually WANT to see it for the drama/story.

Too much of Donner's movie is a bad thing
your opinion...not a fact. and you don't know if the general audience like or dislike Donner's influence in the new film.

Over saturation of the superhero market

Poor advertisment campaign thus far
totally agree on both points...

Nostalgia from Donner movies could turn off audiences to new actors
huh? how does that make sense? if they're nostalgic wouldn't they WANT to see the movie for the actors? Routh shares a greatly resembles Reeve and Spacey shares a resemblence with Hackman. i can see if they can't accept the new actors as their respected characters, but that wouldn't be because of nostalgia...

Too much of Donner film in movie.
once again...your opinion not necessarily shared by the rest of the world.

Not enough action...not the fun popcorn movie people want.
there you go speaking for the rest of the world again. do you know how the rest of the world takes their coffee too?

agreed again...3 out of 8, i guess that's pretty good for 2 guys on opposites sides of the line.

Why is it that you think wanting a supervillain means wanting no story ? plenty of movie balance the two fine,Some of just would have preferred Superman's action sequences to be battles with villains than stopping planes from crashing
Or save a plane AND beat someone up.

Many are opinions. That is why I said COULD...people's opinions could go either way. Will be fun to see, I guess.

And what? There is no connection with my predictions. So I dont think you are right.

My predictions says my opinion, they can be wrong, but not ****.

And you didn't explain me why they are ****, so you are not right.

Somewhere along the line you got the idea I was talking about your predictions. I am talking about the critics predictions in the first post of this thread. You've also gotten some idea that I am a hater. I am not.

 Dare you speak such sacrilidge?

Of course if we had that, how could he possibly throw a floating island into space in the movie that will undoubtedly have the greatest climax since holiday classic JINGLE ALL THE WAY!

Sure, best of both worlds and variety, like an action movie with a car chase and a gunfight

It depends what you consider a flop. Notice how there has yet to be a sequel for The Hulk? It was hardly a flop, but its numbers did not justify the budget. The Wall Street Journal reports SR at 260 million (and thats a pretty credible source)...it will need big numbers to justify that./

I see your point, but comparing Hulk's appeal to Superman's appeal is apples to oranges. Superman Returns will easily surpass it's budget from box office sales and i'm sure it will do very well in DVD sales. Besides I thought singer personally quoted the budget at 181 million?

Honestly, I'm a HUGE superhero fan, not really into comic books, but I love anything superhero related. That being said, I still haven't seen the Hulk, why? Because it looked stupid for one reason and number two he's not really a "superhero", which is another reason I don't think you can compare the two's appeal.

Smallville paved the way for Superman's Return as much as some would hate to admit, I remember playing an MMO recently and I was using Kalel for a screenname and someone said "hey, that's from smallville right?". Smallville will also fuel ticket sales regardless if welling is in it.

I think this is the PERFECT time to bring Superman back, this is the time where a new generation (or several new generations) can be introduced to the greatest superhero ever.

Junfan, the Hulk is as much, if not more, of a Superhero than Daredevil or Batman.

Everyone is acting like you can only have one or the other.....why not both.

How many times have you said that today?

I enjoyed Jingle All The Way, but I think Supermans got an edge over it.

I think a lot of people wont see it just because Singer didn't make it the way THEY wanted it to be...

I am just giving Matt a hard time...I think it would be cool to see Lex with his K-Ring going at it with Superman one on one. :supes:

honestly, I hope he doesn't have a kryptonite ring. I fellt that was a little cheesy

No movie tops holiday classic Jingle All the Way. Without Jingle All the Way there isn't even a Christmas.

where the hell did Jingle All The Way come from? it has nothing to do with what critics think about Superman Returns.

hm... i think superman returns will go like this:
before the premiere during private screening, some will come out saying its not as good as everyone expected. during the premiere, many but not as much as POTC2 will go watch it. a few weeks after, superman tops POTC2 and ranks higher than the spiderman franchise in terms of box office. once the dvd hits, thats where most of money is going to come in.

I knew I had seen it a couple of times at least....just checking to see if you knew you were repeating yourself.

Oh....and I thought Jingle was pretty funny.

i thought it was okay, but it has no relation to Superman, except that the father plays a superhero at the end...

Matt is trying to convince himself that part of the movie is going to be as bad as he thinks it is going to be:D

It just seems like a very funny climax.

i think the movie is going to be incredible... regardless of what those moronic movie critics think.

Jingle All the Way is a holiday classic and should be important to everyone. You see, some people only Jingle half the way...and believe it or not...some only Jingle a quarter of the way! That is why the world needs, this movie...so they can learn to JINGLE ALL THE WAY

By the way, did anyone else see the Curb Your Enthusiasm where Larry broke the food critic's thumb with a dodgeball so he couldn't do thumbs up and thumbs down, that guy was a takeup of Roger Ebert. It was pretty funny.
