First of all, if you haven´t seen DOFP, don´t read on. THERE ARE SPOILERS.

My interest for the x-men movies has significally increased after having seen DOFP and it´s post-credits scene. With interest comes questions, questions I´d like to know what you guys think about!

What do you think will happen in Age of Apocalypse and why?
So Logan woke up in the future where Scott, Jean, Rogue, Bobby, Kitty and more are alive. Shouldn´t the new cast like Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence an so on be taking over tho?
What will they do with Wolverine? Looked like he was picked up and taken away so perhaps the next Wolverine movie includes his adamantium operation? I´m thinking Jackman´s next movie will end at a time where Age of Apocalypse is starting to form. So we´d get some Apocalypse tease in that Wolverine movie. In other words the AoA movie takes place after Wolverine gets his adamantium and eventually leads up to that moment where Jean and Scott are alive as seen in the end of DOFP?

They´re just ideas, haven´t read X-men comics so only theory crafting based on the movies. What do you think will happen? :D

X-Men: Apocalypse is scheduled to be released before the next Wolverine spin-off and takes place in the 1980s.

I think Wolverine will become a Horseman. Due to the Eighties setting, I'm guessing Archangel is out, but they may take "Forget The Last Stand" to heart and throw him in anyway. With a young Nightcrawler appearance seemingly in the works, I think they'll confirm Mystique is his mother.

So in my opinion this the most integral change that Shadowcat/Wolverine made on the younger characters. They raised the stakes.

- Magneto is released far earlier (I would imagine 5-10 years minimum) so he is free to do what is does.
- Xavier is roused from his pity party so he can teach mutants and rally them against Magneto.
- Mystique is essentially made neutral in the human/mutant war. Seems small, but without her, Magneto is much less subtle and much less diplomatic.

By raising the stakes I think we will see a world that is much less subdued when it comes to the mutant agenda. The prejudiced will be more vocally hateful. The defenders will have to fight harder for peace. Homo Superior will be much less shadowed. I'm hoping for the iconic battles we see in the comics and cartoons. We got tastes of those in X-Men, X3 and DoFP (2023 scenes). But this time including Scott and Jean as heroes.

This is the stuff I'm talking about:

As far as we know, in the original timeline it would have essentially taken another 30-40 years for the battles to enter the streets. With Magneto's display at the White House its been fast tracked. Young Magneto's ready to take the gloves off. I'd say that may very well include awakening Apocalypse.

0.001% of mankind are mutants in 1973. According to the statistics of congress. I wouldn't be surprised if Apocalypse makes it his goal to wipe out all of the humans and enslave the remaining 4-5 million mutants. And I think we will see something along those lines. Massive human extinction. Just to start.

My guess is that Wolverine definitely will become a Horseman of the Apocalypse. Perhaps so will Magneto. Mystique will be tempted but end up "coming home" and joining the X-Men to defeat Apocalypse. Gambit will be recruited as will Jean and probably Cyclops.

In fact, to make things easier, I suspect the movie will begin with Cyclops and Jean already there and just children with Mystique, Gambit, and maybe Nightcrawler being recruited over they course of the movie. It will end with some type of detente between Charles and Erik, as well as Mystique becoming an X-(wo)man.

It will be left open-ended if we see the FC cast again (as it was pretty obvious we would in FC And DOFP), because their contracts are up. Probably something that is hopefully as satisfying as the OT ending of DOFP. However, it will obviously be open ended for more to come. If they cannot get the names from First Class back, they can jump back to the present and recast everyone as older, because by the time that happens, it will have been six years or more since this week.

I just want some ass shots of either Fassbender or McAvoy, or perhaps both. If I hear they have that, and/or Rogue somehow is a major player, perhaps I will watch this. Perhaps. X-Men since X3 have been one of those movies that frustrate me sometimes.

I don't quite believe that Mystique will be an X-Woman. I think it's more likely we see her become a Horseman (against her will) and then kill so many innocent people that she is lost to the dark/Magneto side forever. AKA much closer to her original trilogy demeanor.

Fox wants Lawrence to be a hero. And DOFP spent the whole movie being about how much Xavier missed her and winning her soul back by convincing her not to take the "dark path" that Magneto set her on. She is still lost, and will probably not "come home" until near the end of Apocalypse. When she does, it will be the completion of her arc that began in DOFP. To have her just turn into the Mystique of OT would be counterintuitive to her entire arc in this film.

Then again, Fox and Brett Ratner willingly ruined Rogue in X3. But at the very least Singer is producing, and this time the heroine is a major movie star, so I doubt that will be the case here.

call me crazy but your post just sparked a thought about Mystique's arc continuing as she happens to be the love interest of Apoc?

hhmmmm

The thing is, its completely against her FC/DoFP character (also) to be a member of the X-Men. She does not believe in what Xavier is fighting for. He convinced her not to kill, sure. But that doesn't mean she hasn't always believed that Magneto was right.

Not to mention, The Brotherhood is not often outright villainy. Especially in the movies. Its much more of a grey area. Retaliatory in their actions, rarely do they instigate.

I say Wolverine will be in it and spend the first half being a Horseman, and the second half being an X-Man :D.

It makes total sense that, for some reason, Mystique involves herself with Apocalypse and turns Wolverine into a horseman. She is in the perfect position to do that. Since the word is that Nightcrawler may be back...it makes sense for Apocalypse to have him, so Mystique is doing it for "good" reasons.

I don't mind. Jackman is a natural when it comes to horses.:woot:

I am not convinced her mind is not changing. Magneto's changed in DOFP apparently, as he admitted blame over helping bring about this apocalyptic (heh) future. I think that the writers have enough longitude to rewrite Mystique's motivations and arc now if they want to. And I suspect that they do.

Gambit and the X-ternals please. Also, no Channing as Gambit for the love of God.

I think Mystique may begin starting her own team, XForce

If there are plans to bring both Apocalypse and X-Force to the big screen, you know this man can't be far behind. :cwink:

As much as I would love to see it, I'm 90% sure we're NOT going to be seeing the AOA future. At least not as part of the main part of the movie.

They have said that X-Men:Apocalypse will NOT be a time travel movie, much to the script writer's relief; no more crazy timeline charts to keep rack of, lol.

I imagine we WILL be seeing the horsemen, and an initial X-Men/Apocalypse confrontation/world saving, and MAYBE, at the end, somehow end up with an AOA future, which will then need to be "fixed" come the sequel. Or maybe not hint at an AOA future till 2 movies after, with whatever happens in he intermediate film, X-Force, or the next Wolverine film, or maybe even an X-Men movie in between X-Men:Apocalypse and AOA.

OR, as they've already done the dystopian future with DOFP, they may just avoid AOA all together so as not to feel redundant.

Either way, I'm curious to see how they go from the disaster movie that Apocalypse will be, to the clean and happy new future we've seen.

I wonder if Bolivar Trask will return.

I think they should write the Trask character from X3 as his adopted son.

on top of that AOU will be a time travel movie no?
Plus Age Of Ultron right before Age of Apocalyspe?
eh, no..

I figure best Apoc we get is one that is a global threat, a noticeable Global threat.

Maybe the X-men save all the world powers from Apoc and establishes Xavier's world renowned respect?

I think the writers have been pushed into a corner due to these both very popular casts, on one hand, the 80s storyline's the time most people want to see explored, on the other, the peaceful future makes us know how the status quo will be like, while Jean's return has opened the doors for a proper Dark Phoenix storyline.

But if Azazel is dead, who will the father be?
