Nail on the head by Waid, T'Challa.
This.
Going to see it for the second time tonight, with a bunch of friends. Gonna try and have a different experience and I think being with people who don't take it that seriously anyway will help![]()
when I see it a second time I really do anticipate finding more things to enjoy about the film that I missed the first time because I was too busy processing stuff etc.The suit was made the moment the house of El key was put into the ship.
Whatever Kryptonian who adds their personal key to said tech...
It becomes acclimated to them.
So the Jor-El construct of consciousness made the Superman suit the
moment that his son added the key to the ship.
Does that make sense?
It did to me the moment I saw it.

"And as this moment was building, as Zod was out of control and Superman was (for the first time since the fishing boat 90 minutes ago) struggling to actually save innocent victims instead of casually catching them in mid-plummet, some crazy guy in front of us was muttering “Don’t do it…don’t do it…DON’T DO IT…” and then Superman snapped Zod’s neck and that guy stood up and said in a very loud voice, “THAT’S IT, YOU LOST ME, I’M OUT,” and his girlfriend had to literally pull him back into his seat and keep him from walking out and that crazy guy was me. That crazy guy was me, and I barely even remember doing that, I had to be told afterward that I’d done that, that’s how caught up in betrayal I felt."
Didn't anyone learn from The Matrix? tentacles only make good villains in Japanese porn
One thing I've noticed is that there was a lot of destruction during the fighting, buildings collapsing etc, without mentioning the cost of human life and it's becoming a trend in recent films e.g Star Trek into Darkness and Fast and Furious 6.
At least The Avengers mentioned the loss caused after the fight in New York, with people around the world supporting/against The Avengers and worries for the future. But MOS - business as usual, no mention of how Metropolis is rebuild (LexCorp rebuilding the city = owning most of the city would be a good plot point in a sequel) or the damage caused by Superman's fight, whether the world is afraid of him or not. All we got was a happy ending after Supesand business as usual at the Daily Planet.snaps Zod's neck
There doesn't seem to be any consequences for any actions after the first 3/4 of the film, it's like - we set up Superman, let's blow some stuff up! It's good that we have a Supes that can punch, but I think the film makers may have over compensated...
It's all good as long as it's mentioned in some form after the fact?
I seem to recall a very business casual state of mind in central park at the end of avengers.
I'm mostly fine with people having issues but it's when the double standard comparisons pop up that things tend to fall apart imo.
Moreover, it's unclear how long after "the battle for metropolis" the ending happens and it's pretty obvious that the Daily Planet isn't in the same building/location...that's what I took away anyways.
The Superman vs Zod fight did remind me of the Matrix Revolutions (10 years old this year!). But Agent Smoth and Neo were fighting in a simulated world.
I remember saying back then, 'Wow, imagine a Superman vs Zod fight like that!'
Yeah this is a great point..I remember everybody was saying the same thing..wow this could be what a good superman fight in modern CGI could be...then we didnt get it in retunrs and most people I know were really dissapointed...
THis film flat out delivered..
mY 2 complaints from the film.
1. Science didnt really add up...
2. Clark should have cracked a joke or two more in the film..not jerry seinfeild but scenes like the reveal of the costume on the ship could have been some moments of levity.
But overall amazing, amazing film that was beyond my hopes
Very disappointing, such a thin and texturless film.
Should have just made a CGI animation.

Spoilers!!
Things I would change or have major issues with:
1. After the destruction of basically the entire city and the death of millions of people, the Daily Planet and downtown Metropolis seems to be rebuilt in a day! Worst of all, no one seems to care that all those people just died. "Hey millions of people just died, but do any of you babes want to go to a basketball game with me?! COURT SIDE!!!!" The whole basketball team is probably dead!
2. Jonathan Kent dies in a tornado?! The reason his death resonated so much in the original films is because he dies of something that Superman can't prevent, a heart attack. That's the point! Here Jonathan goes back to a car to get a blasted dog. Why didn't Martha go back? She is the one that closed the door on the stinking mutt. Clark could have easily saved his dad without using superhuman powers and without raising suspicion. Costner's limping in this scene is hilarious. Didn't clark see or hear the tornado? They stop like two inches in front of it, and clark is like "what the..?"
3. Power the "World Maker!!" The world maker?????
4. Superman immediately loses his powers outside of earths yellow sun? what the heck is he going to do when he has to go to Apokolips to face off with Darkseid? This movie is supposed to be the start off point for a shared DC universe, but the writers have now basically limited him to being on planet earth or risk him being useless on another planet.
5. "Why didn't you leave the planet with me?" What the heck kind of an explanation does Jor-el give here? "We knew our fate was sealed like Krypton's." This makes zero sense.
6. Apparently there was some kind of love story going on. I had no idea this was the case.
7. "Get inside, it's not safe out here" says superman seconds before those buildings are destroyed and every citizen of smallville dies a horrible death caused by blunt force trauma, smoke inhalation, and severe burns!
Superman's fight scenes around innocent people. Would have like it if he lured Zod to space or the desert to battle. Superman didn't seem t care much about innoncent people.
Yeah, a time scale after the battle for Metropolis would have been good, all we saw of Metropolis at the end was a out of focus shot of Clark on his bicycle and the city.
The Avengers wasn't perfect, but the newsreports at the end showing the differing viewpoints helped. MOS didn't care at the end, we have no idea how the world views Superman after the battle, if people like approve of him or not (but Supes telling the General to tell Washington that he's not a threat is a indicator) The Daily Planet part at the end could have had a mention of Superman doing something, or Lex Luthor being praised for rebuilding Metropolis.
That world changer levelled half a city, those aliens in The Avengers caused moderate damage (don't recall any skyscrapers falling).
Another problem is how are they going to top this in a sequel or Justice League film? This is only the first, and look at the amount of action and damage done?
Also, Superman destroying satellites? Bruce and Lex won't be happy and I mentioned in another thread - does it seem a bit like Quest for Peace? e.g satellites in place of nukes, Supes getting a bit too involved...
I'm still having a tough time with the Zod resolution. I get that in that exact situation he had little choice, but why write yourself into that corner in the first place. I hope when I see it a second time its not as uncomfortable as the first time. It's just so, so weird they wrote an ending where Superman saves the day by violently killing someone then breaking down into tears. It's so depressing lol. Hopefully it'll play differently to me on a second viewing.
So how would some of you handle the situation Superman was in with Zod?
"world engine" is actually worse than "world maker"!!!
they could have come up with a thousand other ways than kevin costner embarrassingly limping in front of a bad cgi tornado. it was silly!
