Well it would be a good jumping point for his mistrust campaign, him rebuilding the city would gain him significant praise, admiration and respect. I see that as the most logical step from the event's of the first film but they'll probably end up going in a completely different direction for all I know.

This review I saw on Youtube actually made a very interesting suggestion, aside from having the film begin with Kal-El's ship crashing on Kent's farm and showing all the Krypton scenes in flashback when Clark encounters Jor-El in the ship. He suggests that rather than having Jonathan Kent die in the tornado, Clark decides to save his dad anyway and, in doing so, makes everyone believe he gets killed. Then when he comes back home to his parents, he realizes that he now has to leave Smallville in order to avoid having all kinds of questions being asked and bringing all kinds of problems for his adoptive parents. Thus this gives a perfect explanation for why we see Clark wandering from place to place and helping people anonymously at the beginning of the film.

Love that take. Would've gladly accepted it instead of watching the unnecessary death of Pa Kent.

I hope it goes down like that. I hope to see Clark as a reporter as well in this rebooted franchise. In the Reeve movies Clark never really got a good story to investigate.

I would have been fine with Jonathan telling Clark not to save him...if Jonathan hadn't died because of his friggin dog. That just annoyed me. I mean, I care about my pet, but if I realize that my dog is still in the car and a giant tornado is about a hundred yards away, I'm not telling my Dad to go out and get it.

I know it's something small, but had Jonathan been trapped under some debris right after he helped that Mom get her kid out I would have been happier. At least then he died saving another person, instead of dying while trying to save his dog.

I agree on 2 and 4. The Zod killing would have been perfect if the movie had shown some background, not only a super-roar after it happened.

And well, I didn't like one bit how easy was for Lois to find out Clark was super-powered. I mean, how many people in Smallville know or have heard of. I don't know why they made his identity so easy to find out.

Yeah I could've done without that final exchange between Superman and the general - I just found it completely unnecessary.

Agreed, Krypton was a very strong opening I thought, got across all of the information it had to, while being dramatic and interesting at the same time - the next 30 minutes or so felt a bit flat compared to it. It's definitely a flawed film, solid, but very flawed.

Yes. I mean the Smallville battle and his telling the General that he was from Kansas really narrows it down. The military or government could have easily found out who Superman was or at least where he was raised!

1. Send the scout ship towards the ocean.

2. Keep Zod in space, instead of slamming him down into another building, killing god knows how many more people.

3. Not sending Zod through a gas station when they were threatening his mom... Not only that, I don't understand why the Kryptonians didn't take his mom for leverage. Supes left her alone with them. Pretty stupid.

I think a lot of you are missing the point here. This is an inexperienced Superman that we are dealing with in what amounts to a re-imagined origin story. He couldn't possibly think of all of those things because he was just starting out. He was never allowed to use his powers to their limits until after he questioned his biological father (who is now a holographic facsimile of his consciousness). It is unrealistic to think that he would be able to think of every contingency (at least not at that time). Furthermore we should also remember that hindsight is 20/20. We could always say what he could or should have done, but we need to understand the context and circumstances here (the guy was just green and inexperienced). It was still a great film and the best Superman picture ever made. I am sure the character will be a little more experienced in the sequel.

10. The super grounded take on Superman, still with unbelievable Clark Kent disguise! Seriously, his face would be on EVERY NEWSPAPER, MAGAZINE, AND WEBSITE ON THE PLANET. NO ONE IS FOOLED CLARK.

I am wondering how this will play out in the sequel(s) that will follow.
I think what will happen is that Clark will find some way to keep the Superman identity within some degree of anonymity (ie not allowing everyone to see his face for too long).

How would Clark save his dad without being seen? That would raise more questions than anything.

I understand why people have a problem with Clark not intervening and saving his father. Most of us would of done it , but they chose to tell a different story and I've accepted that.

Thank you! I felt exactly the same way. The scene with just plays out with dumb decision. After dumb decision! Why did nt he just let clark get the dog, seriously? Or better yet make pa loook heroic instead of stupid by having him save people like you suuggest, or also have clark helping people. Make itt clear that only way he could save hhis dad is by exposing himself and then i could accpet that scene. But as it is pa looks like an idioot who lett himself die and left his wife with the enourmous task of raising a son that will one day change the world. Sorry that is in no way inspiring or poingiant. Its just stupid.

Different argument. Inexperienced does not mean dumb or careless. Superman is 33, he's not a teen like Spider-man. He's highly intelligent and has super reflexes.

He's a superhero. There was no "hero", only "super".

A couple things i noticed on a 2nd viewing that people have brought up as complaints.

A) Superman not saving people.

Aside from lois his mom etc, he actually saved a number of military guys in the very superman fashion. I'd count them as people?

B) Superman and Zod causing all the destruction in metropolis.

The vast majority of damage was already done by that world machine and that was arguably the main cause of the "destruction" of the city. Now it is true that Superman and Zod played a part too but it wasn't all them. I'd put it 75/25 machine and their fight.
