What are your Gripes/Concerns with the project?

This movie looks like its gonna be Real World Mexico or Dawson Creek with Martial Arts

Who are those three people on the left?

lol. chatwin looks like such a normal guy. i think just seeing him in orange gi in itself will be pretty funny.

i'm still upset with chatwin's hair. it's not nearly as crazy as it should be. i hope they at least spike it up korean style. if not goku, then yamcha. or teto. haha.

I have a wild theory about goku having stupid short hair in the movie. Maybe he has wild tarzan hair at first when he's in the jungle with grandpa gohan, but after he meets bulma, the movie goes all Encino Man and she cleans him up, even cuts his hair... i could accept that.

Keanu Reeves should play Kami. What an amazing character actor. That's my only gripe, that he isn't.

Man, I told my friend Michael who is a massive DB fan BTW about the particulars of this movie (Highschool, no krillin, no tien, no oolong, Mai working for Piccolo, etc) and he got really angry. And I can't say that his anger was unjustified. He was most angered by the fact that these wonderful characters who have tons of DB history and are important to the story were left out, while those high school characters were included in their place! He's about to lump this movie in with Superman Returns...another one he loathes.

here's another concern....we have 2 high profile martial arts movies coming out before DB. Forbidden Kingdom and Kung Fu Panda. i don't think these will effect DB's performance, but i'm concerned that the average movie-goer will be Kung Fu'd out by the time DB reaches theaters. there's a possibility of the general audience thinking that DB is just trying to capatalize on whatever success Forbidden Kingdom and Kung Fu Panda might have.

once again...i don't think it'll be too big of a deal, but it's still a concern. there haven't been this many martial arts themed movies aimed towards American audiences for a while, especially in one year.

This is Sci-Fi / Adventure more than martial arts. Yes, the fighting will be martial arts, but there's also flying and ki blasts and so forth.

And Kung Fu Panda is an animated comedy...

True it's all in the marketing. While I am most certain that this movie will heavily focus on the martial arts aspect more than anything.. The trailer can easily showcase the sci fi aspect.

Sheesh, Chatwin looks exactly like what I thought a "real-world" Goku would look like. I don't want to start that "Goku should be Asian" debate, however. I just always imagined Goku (and Saiyans in general) to be Caucasian...and Chatwin definitely has the look.
