The Dark Knight Rises What Do You NOT want to see in Batman 3?

and I can't say this enough, but The Penguin. Worst Batman villain ever created. I'd take Calendar man over him anyday, and that's saying alot.

No no,you´re absolutely right, The Riddler and Catwoman are not obvious...:whatever:

The point is that they're no LESS obvious than Joker or TwoFace, and to an arguably lesser degree Scarecrow.

And do you want more obvious characters?
If they're written as well as Nolan has been writing them so far, then yes, absolutely. Whether or not they're 'obvious' has nothing to do with the quality of the characters.
Good,let´s underestimate Nolan´s intelligence .
If you think that these characters won't be good in the film merely because they're obvious choices, then YOU are the one underestimating Nolan's intelligence, and his talent. (Not to mention his brother or Goyer.)

But you think he will choose exactly the same 2 villains that the rumors are saying???
I don´t think so.
I don´t believe in rumors,I believe in facts, and until now we had just rumors and no one fact that The Riddler and Catwoman will be in the movie...until now we had only bla bla bla,"a friend of mine told me", and nothing concrete.
They(media) want to deceive us saying that they had access to the script and that this or those villains will be in it...all BS.
I doubt Nolan would let someone to have access to the script so easy and let the public know before an official announcement.
They are making us fools.
And Goyer has said once that they want to introduce some villains who NEVER appeared in a Batman movie...so why do you think he´d choose exactly these 2?

I don't recall saying that, no. Nor is it the subject.

I'm simply saying that there's nothing wrong with him potentially choosing them. Whether or not they're obvious has no impact on the quality of the characters, as I have confidence in Nolan and company to handle them brilliantly. And that's because I don't underestimate his intelligence.

You were complaining about them being obvious and saying that makes them dumb choices and that you'd rather see another character, so I was responding to that. Me believing or not believing the rumors is irrelevant.

He is FAR from being the worst when compared to characters like Roxy Rocket, Baby Doll, Egghead, Humpty Dumpty, Louie the Lilac, King Tut, Crazy Quilt, etc. He's actually a great villain when used the right way, such as an underworld kingpin. I loved how he was used in No Man's Land. Batman has tons of villains that are a joke compared to the Penguin.

This list could be so absurdly long. :funny:

Penguin is underrated, loads of potential. I'd like to see Nolan shake everyone's perception of him. The mob does need some help after TDK. :cwink:

His point is that obvious doesn't mean bad. Not once did he say they aren't obvious.

But I´m not saying it´s bad...I´m just saying they are very obvious.:cwink:
Nolan can put other vilains and they would work very well, not just The Riddler and/or Catwoman would fit.
There are other interesting characters to choose.
We can not doubt no one possibility.

I'm not saying you said that. You posted "Yeah, Catwoman and Riddler are not obvious" and then an eye-rolling emoticon, which was unwarranted because that poster never said they weren't obvious.

I agree, i've always dug the Penguin, he's never really gotten great stories though.

Oh he's had some great ones in the 70's, 80's, and 90's.

Even when they changed him from super criminal to shady mob boss in the Iceberg Lounge, he's still had some fab stories.

Couldn't disagree more. Admittedly, The Penguin is corny when used as a bird themed armed robber or an umbrella wielding fine art thief. But the concept that lies behind him is that of the cruel and corrupt white-collar criminal of the depression era. If he were alive today, he would be CEO of CobblepotBank, and you would be paying his obscene bonus via a federal bailout.

Good to see most people having an appreciation for 'ol Pengy.

I didn´t say that you said that I said.
I just said that I didn´t say :woot:

It's been a while since I watched either movie, so I might feel differently if I saw them again. But I think a lot of it had to do with me having looked forward to TDK for so long that when I finally saw it and had something like that take me out of the moment that it ticked me off big time. "See you next fall" was a nice touch as well. :o

When was that line said?

And is it just me, or was Commissioner Loeb talking to Gordon like he was a rookie when Gordon went to warn him about the threat on his life?

I didn't get that vibe but I'd have to rewatch that scene to be sure.

For the life of me, I'm never going to understand why anyone likes this character. He's boring. The only time I ever came close to liking The Penguin was in Batman Returns, and that's because Burton made him dark and sinister. Which is something that had never been done with him before. As great as Chris Nolan is, I don't think he could make Penguin interesting. More than likely, if he was in the next Batman movie, he would be a short, fat mob boss with a mean streak. Nolan is all about realism, and realistically, Penguin is not an intriguing character. What I'm saying is, the only time he came close to being relevant was in a very unrealistic movie as per the Burton Batman era.

The Penguin can easily be in the next film. The key is to NOT make him a main character. He should be a supporting character like Maroni in TDK.

As for what I don't want to see...probably Crazy Quilt.

What Do You NOT want to see in Batman 3?

As long as Bruce doesn't come out of the closet I'm cool with anything Nolan serves up.

What's wrong with interpreting bruce as gay? He does live in a house filled with young boys after all.

If The Penguin DID show up, I think Brit actor Eddie Marsan (from Sherlock Holmes and Happy-Go-Lucky, currently stealing scenes in UK series, Thorne) could be a good choice to play him.

That may very well be the single greatest casting sugestion I've ever heard! Nicely done, sir!

He actually looks exactly like the Penguing (especially that nose). I liked him as an actor but I never thought to connect him with the Penguin:up:

Odd as it sounds, I don't want Black Mask/Roman Sionsis to be anything like Justin Hammer in IM2; in terms of personality and competion.
