What do you think of Ron Paul?

How 'bout if you're born to a U.S. citizen in the U.S. you automatically become a citizen?

I've always wondered this; What happens to the money raised before the primary, if the candidate doesn't get the nomination?

and in about 8 months when Paul withdraws from the race....all that money will be all for nothing.....he isnt getting the nomination and he isnt going to be President.......Deal with it.......

Never. This is the first candidate that I ever believed in and wasn't the lesser of the two evils. He is the good choice in my opinion and a lot of others deal with that.

The only thing I don't like about Paul is his Iraq/War on Terror opinion. He doesn't understand that if we don't stop the nutjobs, it could collapse our nation.

Well your belief and 3.50 will get you a coffee at Starbucks....

Well any other candidate would pocket it but if you know Ron Paul then he would probably dump it into the US treasury (just like he does with his government pension fund) or some people have been talking about him starting a new party.

Maybe, and maybe if you did a little more research on our monetary policy and foreign policy you would be empting your pockets to try to get Ron Paul or someone with the same belief system into office. Don't be ignorant do the research.

Wow. He's so freakin' charitable.

I could empty my pockets, your pockets, and Jesus' pockets...it is not going to get him into office....sadly enough. Its going to come down to Rudy, Hillary, and maybe Edwards....pauls party wont allow him to get close to being in contention....when was the last time a non party nominated candidate got into the white house?

Not necessarily. It will help bring him to the public consciousness, if nothing else. He may make another bid in 2012 and stand a better chance for being better known.

But the thing is, each party wants to win. If he was able to garner enough support, the Republicans would run him. They'd have to. But more importantly, so many people don't vote because they see no point in it. They don't like the choices available, so they just stay home. If you like someone, even if you're convinced he's not going to win, it's better to support him than not vote, or vote for someone you really aren't happy with. Besides, everyone said Clinton was unelectable and we all know how that turned out.

The American people have done some extraordinary things in the past. If you are so jaded on politics then why are you even debating me or anyone else on this board right now. It sounds like you threw in the towel on change for the better in this country.

Honestly, what would you like to happen with the current state of affairs right now. Now political BS, how do you envision your America.

I think we need to overhaul our foreign policy. We cant have one group of people wanting us out of Iraq, but wanting us to get involved in darfur....we either help everyone or help no one.....I think we need to take about 5 years of an isolationist policy and get our crap together. Education needs a serious overhaul, starting with exit exams for all high schools.....tough standardized testing across the board.....for starters...

I'll vote for himto be a nonconformist.

Ron Paul Raises More Than $4 Million in One Day

By DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK
Published: November 6, 2007

Historians and British schoolchildren remember Guy Fawkes as the Roman Catholic, anti-Protestant rebel who on Nov. 5, 1605, tried to assassinate King James I by blowing up the Parliament. Supporters of the Republican primary campaign of the libertarian Representative Ron Paul may remember Fawkes as a wildly successful fund-raising gimmick.

Representative Ron Paul’s use of Guy Fawkes Day to encourage donations to his presidential campaign netted millions.

On Monday, a group of Paul supporters helped raised more than $4.07 million in one day — approaching what the campaign raised in the entire last quarter — through a Web site called ThisNovember5th.com, a reference to the day the British commemorate the thwarted bombing.

Many fans of Mr. Paul know of the day primarily through a movie based on the futuristic graphic novel “V for Vendetta,” by Alan Moore and David Lloyd, in which a terrorist modeled after Fawkes battles a fascist government that has taken over Britain.

The Paul campaign has raised more than $6.84 million in the first five weeks of this quarter, more than the $5 million it raised from July 1 to Oct. 1. Many of the contributions appeared to come through the independent Fawkes effort, but how much was unclear.

On Monday alone, the campaign signed up more than 21,000 new donors, said Jesse Benton, a campaign spokesman.

Among 2008 presidential candidates, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York holds the record for raising the most in a single day: $6.2 million on June 30. But Mr. Paul has surpassed the best day of Mitt Romneythe former Massachusetts governor, who raised $3.14 million on Jan. 8.

ThisNovember5th.com includes video clips and the text of a speech by Mr. Paul, a 10-term Texas congressman. In it, Mr. Paul declares, “The true patriot challenges the state when the state embarks on enhancing its power at the expense of the individual.”

Mr. Paul has stood out from the Republican field for his opposition to the war in Iraq. In the speech he argues that the fight against terrorism is threatening American democracy.

“The American Republic is in remnant status,” he says. “The stage is set for our country eventually devolving into military dictatorship, and few seem to care.”

Mr. Benton clarified that Mr. Paul did not support blowing up government buildings. “He wants to demolish things like the Department of Education,” Mr. Benton said, “but we can do that very peacefully, in a constructive manner.”

I think this article basically says everything that needs to be said about why I dislike Ron Paul: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/6/5/193414/2787

The Daily Kos is nothing more than left wing garbage. And an article like this shows that they don't take a look at any other views than their own.

Paul's pro-life stance comes from the fact that he's an OB/GYN and delivered numerous babies. His votes against actions in Darfur, the United Nations, NAFTA, etc. come from his isolationist beleifs. The rest of his votes come from his beleif in smaller government and that the government has no right to interfere in such affairs.

someone made a good point on the news that Ron Pauls supporters are so spread out.....that even if they all voted for him he would still come up extremely short......most people I know here in CT have no idea who ron paul even is....

The way I see Ron Paul is that he's a dark horse candidate. He'd probably have higher numbers if the media portrayed him properly instead of some lower tier candidate.

The man does far too well in terms of fundraising and straw polls to consider him a lower tier candidate like CNN and Fox News try to portray him as. And we really can't say how well or poorly he will do in this election. Just like Mike Huckabee, he's going to affect the nomination process.

I'm astonished that Ron Paul managed to raise over $7 million since yesterday.
