The Dark Knight What if a black actor was cast as Harvey Dent?

They can pick any color they want as long as he's male.

that would be awesome. for some reason, Mr. Freeze popped into my head...that would be a cool choice as well (no pun intended).

Well...not only would I not like to see Denzel in a comic movie...but you do not want an actor that's name would pop up before Bale on the poster and credits. Also, I just do not see how Denzel would be a good choice of Harvey...not because he is black though.

It would depend on who the actor is, regardless of his race. Michael Clarke Duncan was the Kingpin after all.

I wouldn't mind too much, but only if it was someone as good as Denzel who was cast.

Dent to me is a character that can be altered in that way. hes not a prominent well known character that would be ridiculous as another race like batman or superman.

I wouldnt mind at all. In fact i was curious as to how Billy Dee Williams would play Two Face if burton did Batman 3.

He was casted as KP only because of his big weight and his ability for acting.

But I hated this isea and still hate it.

They should follow characters from comics, not from Burton's movies.

I'm the BIGGEST Denzel fan (the Sidney Portier of my generation) and I think he can do anything he wants, however, I think the problem would be the same when Billy Dee played him in the 89 version.

He's known too much as a "handsome" leading man to play the role. I don't think you want an actor that is too camera friendly to eventually be the scared half hideous 2face.

Laurence Fishburne is Bishop from "X-MEN." Always has been and always will be. Now if Fox can just get off their lazy asses and make a "X-Men 4" where Bishop comes in along with Cable (although the time-traveling would probably go out the window) but you could change their storylines to be mutant mercenaries.

He's easily top 5, even top 3 of Batman's rogues gallery. How is that not prominent.

Well a black man has played Harvey Dent of course already and truthfully I'm disappointed Billy Dee Williams never got a shot at two-face and judging by the Special Edition DVDs I think he's pretty disappointed himself

To you he may be... hes just not as prominent characters as A listers even if you dont see it. Thats why Kingpin could be recasted apparently in Daredevil.

I'd be against this because I'm a massive racist.

I'm an EOR-Equal Opportunity Racist. I hate everybody equally without conviction. LOL.

I'd prefer to see a white actor in the part because that's how I see him in the graphic novels and such. But it wouldn't ruin the movie for me if the actor was black...It depends on the character and the actor I think. Dent/Two Face is a character that should IMO be played by a white person.....other than Tommy Lee Jones.

Ridd, Joker, Catwoman, and Penguin might be above in public knowledge. It's understandable considering the immense popularity of the Adam West show.

But in the comics, he's only 2nd (pun intended) to Joker. His origin is one of the most well-known among comic book fans, and he's been in Burton's series, as well as Schumacher's. Apparently that's A-lister enough, since the character's appeared more than any other villain of the movie series. :o

This is a completely different case.

Kingpin was that not well known outside the comic book continuity. Plus it's very difficult to find a good white actor that had the size and presense of Kingpin. MCD fit that role, so he got it. There was still a ruckus within the fans about this casting however.

With Dent, there are so many white actors that can play this part. It's limitless and there's really no reason to change the character's ethnicity other than to make sure the minorities won't complain.

Looks pretty similar to me but, John Cusack is not black so thats probably our answer lol

I keep seeing the argument that "that actor doesn't have the look to play Dent" To be honest...looks don't mean anything unless they can pull of the character...So if nolan ends up choosing a black guy or a guy that none of us have been clamoring for...SO WHAT?!...He is picking the actors for the role based on the ability of the actor to accurately portray the character written in the script...He wants someone...like ledger for the Joker...that can melt into the role and can inhabit the role of Dent...Nolan has seen all the available canidates...probably close up too...He knows who is best to play this role...

There's really no need for a black actor to play Two-Face. I was cool with it for Kingpin because there aren't any good white actors that fit that size. But there are many white actors who look close to the comic book Harvey Dent. And besides, I've never met a black guy named Harvey.

Lmao theres one somewhere... :D

When I lived in Pittsburgh I knew a black guy named Harvey. He was a network consultant or something similar. He lived 2 doors down from he and tried to hit on my wife's sister.

The actor who plays Harvey SHOULD be a Handsome leading man type. The handsomer the better, it makes it all the more tradgic when he gets scarred. Lawrence Fishbourne isnt a bad looking guy but his face shows sign of wear that dont really make him such a good candidate for Dent. Kind of the same problem of having Tommy Lee Jones as Dent, I mean he's not bad looking just kind of old and leathery... you cant tell which side is the messed up side. Harvy should be Devastatingly handsome until the attack.
