I don't think RLM makes valid points. I think he tries to apply a lot of rules to movie making when there are none. I don't like the fact that people can't get into a discussion of what they didn't like about the PT without RLM being brought up. Did anyone walk out of TPM complaining about the movie not having a protagonist? Believe it or not there have been quite a few movies with no protagonist. I think it's a case of people not liking the movies and when someone nitpicks it people agree with it because they disliked the movie. There is a document online that someone made that debunks the RLM review. I got to find it.

Ya and I think Jim Raynor's stuff ignores everything RLM says and contradicts himself even worse then RLM does. To me it seems like PT fans don't want to hear it the same way because it goes "against' what you believe and vice versa so that may just even us out. And yes lots of movies don't have protagonists, but Episode I should not have tried to go with out one. You gave me Jim's stuff years ago Roach, and I think it's terrible most the time because he does not understand (I think) the basis of where Plinkett is coming from. There is a reason Plinkett's reviews are much more popular than Raynor's 108 page ordeal. If you go to RLM's forums (it's a terrible place I know I agree with that) but there is great rebuttals against everything Raynor put up.

But again with PT lovers the same rule applies, they don't want to hear anything that goes against it (which in a way I understand). Once you get past some of the nit picks again the over all point of RLM's videos is very true to many of us. And has been way before he came along. But again I think this is where it shows the line is drawn, and we both will feel that way. My point is, most of us haters as well as likers of the PT are decent people with differing opinion for something we all strongly love. One side is not...."worse" than the other. It's just both sides have extreme ...jerks on each side, and we just have to deal with that like we do in life. People like you and I are not going to threaten others etc. Because even though we disagree a lot roach, we get along pretty well. And we both have seen the nasty extremes on one side or the other.

And really this whole thread can be summed up in few words.

There are mean fans out there, that take things too far, and those that may love/dislike things one way or another, and refrain from going to dark extremes.

How can people still be mad about the Prequels…it's like 8 years later…time to let some things go.

I was just about to post about them. Saying you like something about the prequels is tantamount to agreeing with Hitler's final solution.

Sadly this is an apt comparison.

I personally loved the prequels.Sure,there were things I didn't like,but nothing so bad that outright ruins the films for me.

I was about the post the same point as you... that they believe Nolan's Batman is the first and ONLY good Batman. My goodness, I think most of them has never even since the previous movies...

or watched Batman: The Animated Series or checked out the Arkham games.

The specifics of the interest are pretty much irrelevant.

Not a joke, but WE all fit this criteria to some degree. We all take these imagined worlds much more to heart, for a variety of reasons, than the general population does. The difference between the fan and the annoying and/or disconnected to reality fanatic is self awareness. Do you get how someone who does not have your frame of reference would see you, your actions and your world view? Congratulations, you are in possession of self-awareness. The fans that take it too far, that don't get in the least how crazy or insane they come across are lacking in this all important trait. I have not seen it yet but I am interested in the film about role players call "ZERO CHARISMA". The trailer kind of says it all. "It's important to remember that in the end, it's just a game." "Uh... Don't you think it's a little MORE than that?"

I don't think many of the folks on these boards let their nerdism overtake their lives. Yes, there are some, but SHH is somewhat sane.

There are moments of insanity, but most of the folks here are relatively sane. I think so at least....

Sorry. It's a film called ZERO CHARISMA about an obsessive role player. In the trailer he gets to meet a Gary Gygax type (it might even be Gygax, I don't know. I'm not a role player) who tells him to remember that the D&D experience is supposed to be fun. It's a game. The main character's response to the guy that invented the game is "Don't you think it's more than just a game?" Zero self awareness there.

Ok... How about the movie MISERY? Kathy Bates gets to meet the author of the series of books she adores, but freaks the hell out when she reads the latest book he's created in manuscript form and (spoiler alert) takes him hostage when she learns that her favorite character is actually being killed off. Her break from reality, her lack of understanding how far her obsession has taken her, is so great she threatens the person who is responsible for the thing she claims to value so much.

Okay, yes... I get that, but I guess I haven't seen that in my "real" life. I see it here on the boards where the goal is to indulge your fandom. I DO NOT see crazy Batman fans, Superman fans, Ironman Fans, FF4 fans.... (except at CC). You get the picture though. I don't SEE these fans in real life. It's here on SHH where fans indulge that I see it.

I'm not sure if that's a proper picture of real life. I guess that is my point.
