What is the worst kind of nerd?

or watched Batman: The Animated Series or checked out the Arkham games.

They probably have vague memories of watching Batman cartoons when they were young, so that qualifies them as long-time Batman fans.

Omg now I sound like a snob

I don't know. I just wanted to feel included. :(

Anti-nerds? Are those the candy made out of vegetables?

RLM/Raynor are like the personification of the worst kind of nerd. Both sides are so sure of their "facts" they can't allow anyone to disagree with them.

There's also a touch of that going on in this thread though fortunately it's quickly abated by other, more level-headed posters.

The worst kind of nerd is an unreasonable one

So you are saying we are not level headed because I don't care for people saying we are "monsters" because we don't like certain films within something we are passionate about?

No, I'm saying people who spout off opinions as facts or call other people monsters who disagree with their opinions are the worst. And no one here actually went that far although some posts were defending those attitudes.

Ah understood. Yes I've never gone to the dark side where I'm spouting hate, and personally hating someone for a piece of work they made. It makes no sense to me.

But again this whole thread can be summed up in a few words. There are just not very nice people out there, and sadly they bring bad names to certain types of fandom or types of nerds.

To sum up most of this thread, "nerds who consistently disagree with me".

You can find a problem with anything if you think about it for too long. It's better to just enjoy it with your youth.
Problem is that those problems are too widelly present in the films for me to not mind them, it doesn't just work that way, there's a time to enjoy things but we can also be given the opportunity to criticise something when it's far below the quality of what it could be and should be, or when it has too many problems.

I was just about to post about them. Saying you like something about the prequels is tantamount to agreeing with Hitler's final solution.
also RLM is not the Gospel written by God without fallacy. I dislike when I am in a discussion about the prequels and RLM is brought up…"What you can;t articulate what you disliked about this movie?"

Not everyone can articulate their opinions eloquently. That's why quoting people who say what you think better than you can is perfectly reasonable and normal.

I don't think RLM makes valid points. I think he tries to apply a lot of rules to movie making when there are none. I don't like the fact that people can't get into a discussion of what they didn't like about the PT without RLM being brought up. Did anyone walk out of TPM complaining about the movie not having a protagonist? Believe it or not there have been quite a few movies with no protagonist. I think it's a case of people not liking the movies and when someone nitpicks it people agree with it because they disliked the movie. There is a document online that someone made that debunks the RLM review. I got to find it.

That's true. And in the review of the Phantom Menace, the guy outright says that not every movie has to have a clearly defined protagonist, but the Phantom Menace would have benefited from having one. He doesn't apply blanket rules to all movie making, he usually says "this is a thing that works in most movies and this movie that I'm talking about would have benefited from for these reasons."

And this is why I dislike discussing the PT with people who quote the RLM. It's like trying to argue The Bible. It's never wrong. It's infallible.

That's not what this exchange was like at all. You said the video made a point that it didn't actually make, and then I said what the point it actually made was. That's not being dogmatic.

Dogmatic would be if you said that you disagree with RLM's point that every movie has to have a protagonist, and then I said that every movie DOES have to have a protagonist because RLM is so smart and great. But that's not what happened.

It was a painful and transformative experience when I discovered this about myself. Don't worry, it gets better.

Mods who abuse their power and act holier than thou.

I think moreover the worst kind of nerd dismisses a certain movie as being "The Worst" because it's fashionable to do so.I like what I like and don't care about popular opinion,Rotton Tomatoes or any other crap.

The nerds that become what they rally against. Basically becoming bullies and *******s comparative to the ones they claim demean them.
