Homecoming What should they do with the Spidey franchise? - Part 1

What do you mean? Why would the spider man forums go away?

If the rights go to Marvel, who's going to discuss TASM2, TASM3, S6, or TASM sequels in general?

There's going to be a major change around here, and everyone will focus on the product Marvel is going to deliver.

Edit: Well, TASM2 might still remain open, since people still talk about Ramie's films as well. But certainly not anything after that, I would think.

Gives me chills thinking about it :D

People will instead talk about Spidey in the MCU

I'm surprised there's so much support for this. I guess I expected more grumbling.

Yeah, if Spidey goes back to Marvel... will all the subforums close?????

I imagine they would be rearranged and collapsed a bit, like say:

Spider-Man (MCU)
Amazing Series
Raimi Series
Comics
Spidey-World

I guess that might happen - but wouldn't they wait until a solo movie is announced or something? :shr:

I'd wait until after the summit before thinking about which forums will be deleted.

Spidey doesn't/belong on television!

Actually, that's the best way to take the time to tell the stories. Think live action Spectacular Spider-Man. Get Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, & Maurissa Tancharoen on it.

Spidey is perfect for tv. And you could still do a movie or two, and you would want to, because Joss Whedon + Spidey = $$$$$$$$$

This is true. Events would be in the movies like the Sinister Six (AFTER they have all been introduced individually, the Night Gwen Stacy died, etc)!

The series would really be able to delve into the characters and plotlines through the year. Watch Buffy as an example of how the show might look.

Ill say this one more time: The very nature of Spidey and his villains require lots of CGI and special effects, how could you do characters like Rhino, Electro, Mysterio, Doc ock or Venom justice?
I'd rather Spidey stay on the big screen. besides all of Marvel's Netflix shows feature characters that aren't superhumanly-spectacular.

Marvel wouldn't put a character like Spider-Man on a mere Tv show.

Iron Fist gets his power by punching the heart of a dragon. Not spectacular at all

Do you watch the Flash by any chance? A Spider-Man show with a Netflix budget would be fantastic.

Spider-Man and his villains don't even compare to Iron Fist. he's an A-list superhero, he's going to be getting big budgeted movies like Iron Man and Cap, not Netflix shows with shoddy CGI and SFX. it's okay for characters like Dare devil, Luke Cage or Iron Fist, because they don't require the vast amounts of CGI and SFX Spidey does.

Yes I have seen The Flash.

Swinging can be done practically

Electro, Shocker, Hydro Man, Mysterio, Kraven, Sandman, Venom, Lizard could all be done on a TV budget

The only effects heavy scenes would be Doc Ock, Green Goblin and characters like Vulture, and even then wirework could be used

It would be expensive, but not as expensive as you'd think, and would certainly be doable

I'd love to have a live-action Spidey show.

Honestly, I think it would be best for all involved if things were to start with a clean slate. I'm all for another company keeping Spider-Man outside of Marvel because competition is good, but at the end of the day in spite of the free money Disney gets with 100% of merchandise sales it's in the characters best interest to be brought home. Sony's had their chance and they did well with the character for a good few years, but now they're completely lost with what to do and it's costing them money. With only box office profit and no merchandise sales it's entirely possible Spider-Man is close to losing them money, at the very least making small profits that are hardly worth the time and expense in the first place. They've been on borrowed time since the superhero market shifted, first to Nolan's Batman series, and then the MCU. Fox managed to get X-Men back on track in spite of this, the X-Men series has now found it's own path going forward, but Sony haven't had a clue with what to do with Spider-Man ever since Raimi left. Spider-Man needs to go home.

I feel like spiderman would be best under Disney-Marvel's control at sony, even more so than if Disney owned the rights fully. This way, we can get spiderman films during phase 3, and Spidey films wouldn't take away a slot for another Marvel film. This way we get more movies! Granted, it's gonna be an uphill battle to get sony to play ball but if the sony execs in Japan want this deal made then I don't see how anyone can stop them, even Avi Arad

Lizard, Sandman, Venom all wouldn't be easy on television, Venom being the hardest. practical swinging.... the swinging in the show would be even lamer than TASM's swinging scenes! you couldn't get any of the classic swinging poses with lame practical swinging :o

I think that may have been part of their initial discussions. Hell they might have still gone through with S6 if the October deal went successfully.

That's like, 3 films in 2016 and '17, 4 in 2018.

4 in 2017 if they went through with the female-led or the venom/carnage (and 5 if both). If they made a deal, I think I'd just want a spiderman trilogy that also sets seeds for a venom film. It's kinda crazy how spoiled we'd be
