I bet your arms that you haven't seen much of the development of threads in this board...:oldrazz:

If "Star Wars: Episode III- Revenge of the Sith" could get a PG-13 rating, than I don't see how "The Dark Knight" couldn't get a PG-13 rating.

The MPAA has gotten alot more lenient than it was a few years ago. They'll let it go, but I do believe they'll have some kind of "Parents Strongly Cautioned" disclaimer.

Of course it will be Pg 13, but as a sicko I would love to see a superhero movie move into the Clockwork Orange trilogy, damn in "Killing Joke" we have bondage scenes and midgets. It's not Miracleman 15 but it'll do. I'm going to see Alan Moore soon through Blackwells on Charing Cross Rd, I hope to get a copy of Lost Girls signed! I really am a sick comic fan.

I really hope it is not a 12A.

God I would love an 18 certificate batman or at least a 15. As far as I am concerned the darker, grittier and more adult orientated this new batman film by Nolan is (in A Clockwork Orange type of way), the better. I appreciate, however, that from a commericial point of view films have to be toned down so they are suitable for kids because kids = $$$

I sincerely hope that WB don't put too much pressure on Nolan to tone the film down to the mandatory 12A but i suspect it will be unfortunately.

In the U.S. it will most likely be getting a PG-13 rating. While I think most of us would prefer an R rating, I think they will keep it at PG-13 so that parents will feel okay taking their kids to see it.

PG-13. I'll bet on it. If it's anything but that, then you can repeatedly rub a cheese grater over the head of my penis. :o

An R-Rated Batman is as wrong as a man with huge knockers.

If I was to add a poll, I bet there would be quite a sizeable proportion of posters who would be in favour of an R-Rated batman.

Try it! I'd be curious to see how that would pan out.

Not really, an R rated film would be perfectly valid considering what Batman does. Not that we'll ever see one

Well, there's ben tons of these rating-threads. But I've always been of the opinion that Batman most definetly does not need a R-Rated rating. Its not Watchmen, and it isn't Sin City. Hard PG-13 ? yes. but its still a superheroish character and a world (even if Nolan goes for realism and Batman ain't technically a superhero). Batman and superherocomicbooks are in desperate need for new and fresh readers, and therefore i find it selfish to make big Batman-boosting events like a quality film to be something that only adults would be able to enjoy.

As low as comicbook sales are today, there's still a bit more playroom to make something adult every now and then in that format. I don't really think there is in Batman.

yes this thread is pointless... we already have this thread and a poll and the poll said ~25% R... overwhelming majority was PG-13... can we merge this or close it?

It's not going to be a child oriented film anyway, regardless of rating. This talk of selfishness is boring, how about your personal preference? The film has already been toned down according to gillberg, it already sounds much more violent than Begins.

Anyway, it'll be a PG-13, it's not really a debate

BB was 12A in UK, TDK will be the same, I hope it would be 15 rating least.

i have no problem with batman being darker and more disturbing but the last time that happened WB got a new director and a campier vision for the character. but i think in todays day and age, haveing dark supehero movies is "in".

Hell no to a R rating or a 18. People seem to forget that this is Batman, not spawn or sin city. He is an icon worldwide, to think that a movie which would pretty much alienate the kid fans could ever be greenlighted is a preposterous idea. You can kid yourself thinking R rated batman would be a "truer" interpretation of the character, but to me, one of the great things about the batman franchise is that it appeals to such a large audience. Nolan's films cleverly entertain the kids, while keeping it on a level that make more mature audiences happy. thats how it should always be.

PG 13 and 12a all the way.

I agree with what you are saying, but the kids these are into Spider-Man than Batman or Superman and I see kids wearing Spider-Man costume or shirts more. 12A sounds good I enjoyed BB with that rating anyways.

but i think we need Joker to be nasty. bloody nasty.

im thinking the way how nasty Joker was on Jason Todd

the Batman of the 80s and especially Miller's DKR established that, and made it a standard for the portrayal of the Joker

i'm not sure if they could pull it off with a PG 13, could they?
(if they could, then great :) )
