I was lead to believe that this was a significant improvement on the first one, but eh... I don't know. Like the first one, it's mostly tripe held together by an interesting structure and punctuated by a small handful great moments. Also, the monster effects are really, really bad. So bad not even the copious amounts of faux-video distortion can hide them.

I guess I'll score each section separately.
Tape 49 - The glue that holds the film together. Not as good as in the first movie, and it's made worse by a really dumb ending. 1/5

Phase 1 Clinical Trial - Everyone seems to be ****ting on this one. While it's definitely not the best of the bunch, it's also not the worst. The jump scares got me a couple times. 2/5

A Ride in the Park - Awesome concept, I feel like they didn't do enough with it though. 2/5

Safe Haven - Easily the best one. It could (and should) have been it's own full length movie. The ending was laughable though. 4/5

Slumber Party Alien Abduction - Pretty self explanatory. This is the one that seemed to be getting the most early buzz, but I really didn't like it at all. Definitely the worst for me. 1/5
So this movie is sort of like "Batman Gotham Knights" in the various segments and stories?

Throw Mamma from the Train. The film was moist.

V/H/S 2

Tape 49- The main plot that carries throughout the film, it's nowhere as good or surprising as the first one. It felt like it was sleepwalking almost the entire time just so we can get to the tapes. 4/10

Phase I Clinical Trials- This one felt like something was missing, there's one or two good scares but it could've been much better. I do however like the camera techniques. 6/10

A Ride in the Park- A very interesting concept that doesn't really go anywhere. Also I was disappointed in the acting. 6/10

Safe Haven- This was easily the best one of the bunch, it has a great set up and great delivery. This was the one I can see Gareth Evans (the Raid director) make into a effective full length film. 9/10

Slumber Party Alien Abduction- Man, this one is the other one I can see being made into a full length film...and not in a good way. Although I'll give some points for making the aliens look scary but it tried way too hard. 6/10

This week I saw...
Gatsby (2013) (1st time)
Big Lebowski
Robot & Frank (1st time)
Fargo
Fast & Furious 6 (1st time)

Yeah I'll definitely see it again. I got pissed at the son in the end [BLACKOUT]for basically ratting out his dad and tipping them off they could access the memories through the robot.[/BLACKOUT]

Yes, VHS is an anthology series. Although there is a central plot holding together the different segments.

Superman Unbound. It was alright, was hoping for more action than what was in it and I wasn't a huge fan of the character models. Thought they all looked weird especially Lois and Superman. Still haven't seen a DC animated Superman movie that blew me away like Under the Red Hood or TDKR pt. 1 did.

Just like the book I found the story long winded and too fragmented, but also like the book it has some great scenes and ideas, plus it is visually superb, the use of music is hit and miss. 7/10

Munich 10/10- One of Speilberg's best I think.

This is one of those movies I love, but depresses me so thoroughly I can only watch it once. Everyone's talking about how shocking and sad "the red wedding" was this week, but the end of this was my "red wedding."

"Behind the Planet of the Apes" (1998). A nice 2 hour documentary about the movie and its four sequels/prequels, host by Roddy McDowell (who performed the parts of Cornelius and his son, Caesar). Very good.
