When I was younger The World is Not Enough was my favorite Bond movie. I'm sad to say it doesn't hold up as much as I hoped it would, but I also think it's not quite as bad as people make it out to be. Yes , the movie is largely just a series of set pieces, with the characters moving from one explosion to the next with minimal plot and character development in between, but at least it's good at what it's doing. And Denise Richards is only terrible half of the time, the other half she's at least tolerable.

It's a flawed movie for sure, and it's probably twenty minutes longer than it needs to be, but I don't know... I like it for what it is.

3/5

Watched Edge of Darkness with Mel Gibson. If I remember correctly it came out about when he had his breakdown. Not a bad flick, but not great

Very good, really enjoyed the arcs of Mystique, Magneto and Xavier, little light on action but some cool visual moments and excellent acting all round. 8.5/10

Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers

Very much a "camp" movie in every sense of the word. The movie was done in the late 80's and skewered pretty much all the tropes of the time (literally including Jason, Freddy and Leatherface with cameos featuring their signature weapons and masks). It drops the twist ending from the first movie in favor of continuing the story with gruesome deaths at the hands of the killer.

Despite the obvious low budget horror movie feel going for it (all the accompaying gratuitous nudity and violence) the movie isn't that bad. The killer (Angela who we know right off in the open scene is the killer) goes on a bloody rampage through the camp as campers misbehave and get dispatched in various inventive ways.

Watching the third one now. It was filmed back-to-back with this one so I'm curious to see how it differs.

Pompeii, meh it was enjoyable in a guilty pleasure type way.

Devil's Due, good grief did this suck. Predictable and not once was it ever scary or suspenseful.

Neighbors

A pretty solid Seth Rogen comedy, I really enjoyed the chemistry between Rogen and Rose Byrne. A lot of the actors just clicked and worked well with the comedy. The Batman bit with Efron and Rogen was awesome. The cameos was also cool, but man I wished they got the rest of the guys from The League. Overall it's a pretty good comedy for the summer.

X-Men Days of Future Past

Saw it again for the 2nd time, it's just as good the first time.

Maleficent

Surprisingly decent, I was expecting a bit more Burton's Alice in Wonderland but I got more Snow White and the Huntsman. The visuals was incredible, easily the best thing about this movie. Angelina Jolie did a fantastic job as Maleficent, she committed to the character. Everyone else did a serviceable job with it. I didn't expect (good) comedy in it so that was also a surprise. For a PG Disney film they didn't shy away from the darkness, it was light when it needed to be and dark when it was necessary.

It's rather decent. Amy Adams is hot in this...like always.

I can't decide between this and FC for my favorite X-Men movie. Best film of the year so far, for me.

I watched Wristcutters: A Love Story. I really liked it, probably because I was in the mood for a really weird and morbid movie for some reason. It's not something I'd watch multiple times though.

I really want to see Maleficent. Based on the things I've heard about it, I think I'll enjoy it. All of the complaints I've been hearing have been things I'm not surprised to hear about. All I want from this movie is Angelina Jolie being fabulous as Maleficient, and I'll forgive a lot of shortcomings the movie has. Sounds like Jolie delivers. Anywho, I don't think I'll be able to see it until this weekend or next weekend. :p

Having finished Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland I can safely say it's more of the same of the previous sequel, which isn't a bad thing but it was also on a cheaper budget which showed.

The deaths were still inventive but less gruesome and detailed. Most of them were cut away either for censorship purposes or because they just looked fake if viewed for more than a few seconds.

I'd give them a 3/5 for sheer camp (pun most definitely intended).

Die Another Day isn't all bad. The first fifty minutes or so are actually mostly excellent in my opinion. Unfortunately the movie gets exponentially more stupid every twenty minutes or so following that to the point where it feels at times like you're watching a cartoon. And not even a good cartoon at that.

The movie is filled with awful writing, and some very spotty acting from some of the principal cast. Technically the movie is a mess as well. Bad special effects, and poor use of speed ramping all over the place in the back half of the movie.

I guess we owe a debt of gratitude to this movie though. If it hadn't been so awful, they wouldn't have needed to reboot the series and we wouldn't have gotten the Craig era.

Thanks Die Another Day!

Yeah, Die Another Day has a great first act and then it turns into crap.

Maleficent 8/10.

Great film, Angelina Jolie's best performance.
