'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes'

An amazing film that's a thrill-ride from start to finish.

9/10

The Werewolf
(1956)

Although the name might seem a bit generic it's arguably the best werewolf film of the '50s.

'Guardians of the Galaxy'

The best blockbuster of the year.

9.5/10

Great concept, hopelessly executed and I think it attempted to be humorous at times like Scream but it fell completely flat. 3/10

Loved this. It's remarkable that I managed to nearly forget everything that happened in this movie over the last two years. The great part is that I could experience it anew and my god it's amazing. The trouble now is assigning a score, because while some may not consider SF perfect, everything worked for me. My opinion might change with repeated viewings but for now it's a 10/10.

thoughts?

A very frustrating film. I had only a periphery knowledge of the story, having never read the book or seen any previous adaptations, so the prime attraction for me was Cary Fukunaga. The film looks beautiful, and there is a great sense of atmosphere throughout much of the first half, and the acting is solid across the board. However any sense of the love story between Rochester and Jane came almost out of nowhere, and fell completely flat in my eyes. As this relationship and subsequent conflict is supposed to carry the remainder of the film, I could only feel that the main thrust of the film was either much too subliminal for my eyes, or completely mishandled.

Hmmm... not really sure how I feel about it.

I mean, Carell was incredibly good. But I don't feel like the story was well laid out... a couple of times I literally had to re wind to see if i'd missed a vital peice of information... and found that no, I hadn't missed anything... it just seemed a bit disjointed.

I'd give it an 8/10, but that's only because of the performances.

I was in a shamless B-movie mood, watched Scorned 2..like many of those 90's direct to video "thrillers", it was a ripoff of something else. Largely of Fatal Attraction.

The Machine with Caitie Lotz ( second viewing ).
:up:²
This is one of my best movies of 2014. Caity is just amazing as The Machine.

Man in the Attic (1953) Jack Palance as Jack the Ripper.

Just watched "42" with the wife. It was pretty good although I felt it kind of ended prematurely. What I mean is that I think they could have done a couple of events after Robinson's first year in the Majors. Just my opinion of course...

Edge of Tomorrow

This was fantastic! What went wrong? Great smaller scale films go unnoticed at the box office all the time, but a big budget movie? I hate when great movies don't get recognition. Goddamn.

Blunt is an action star.

Oldboy (2003)

Arguably the best film of The Vengeance Trilogy. The hallway fight sequence is still one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (2005)

Probably the goriest film in The Vengeance Trilogy. The ending is absolutely brutal!

Willow (1988)

The Fury of Hercules (1962)

Gravity (2013)

Star Wars: A New Hope (1977)

Edge of Tomorrow
