Darkman.

First time watching this right through and found it to be a fairly enjoyable cheesy romp.
They say you should never watch the sequels, but I enjoyed those direct to video duo of films with the Mummy playing Peyton Westlek.

Lol. I don't think I'll bother with the sequels.

I was mostly interested in the first because Sam Raimi directed it.

One of my favorite moments in the original is when he's angry dancing in his lab the dance of a freak. The best kind of cheese.

The scene at the fair is funny. "Take the f'n elephant!". :funny:

The Commuter

Decent.

Pitch Perfect 3.

The Post

I thought it was a pretty good political thriller. I kinda feel like Spielberg made this as a companion piece to Bridge of Spies. They both are shot in a similar fashion and goes into the whole "What is old is new again" subject matter. While Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep are the main stars of the movie (and they are great), this is more of an ensemble piece and it is loaded with A list talent. Bob Odenkirk in particular did a phenomenal job. The best part about the movie is when they are dealt with the Pentagon Papers and how they were able to publish it. That being said, when it got to the last few scenes, it got a bit too sentimental and preachy. I get why they did that but they could have found a better way to give that message. Overall, this never got near the levels of Spotlight but it did a good job on delivering a decent thriller that has some great directing.

Song to Song

Terrance Malick serves up yet another pretentious hot trash. It's like he remade his last movie, but put it in a different location. Like all of his films, there's incoherent narration and scenes where it's a lot of looking around and pondering. It would be one thing if you cared about the characters, but no... you don't really give a sh** about Gosling, Fassbender, Mara, or even Natalie Portman. The only thing I found interesting was Austin backdrop... only because I can spot some of the places I've been to.

The Terminator

One of my favorite movies of all time, still.

But of course, I gotta watch T2 right after...

Den of Thieves

It's a pretty damn good heist film that is heavily inspired by movies in the 80s and 90s like Heat and the Usual Suspects. Theres some really good action scenes that takes its time. It pretty much turns into a turf warfare but with cops and robbers. Gerard Butler is actually trying in this and he hasn't been this good since Machine Gun Preacher. Some others in the cast did a pretty good job like Pablo Schreiber and O'Shea Jackson Jr. It's a long movie and I will say the first half gets pretty slow and tedious, but it made up for it in the 2nd half. Overall, it's a good heist movie that is trying its hardest to be a classic, but it ultimately falls just short.

12 Strong

It's a surprisingly decent war drama that deals with the first task force on the ground in Afghanistan after 9/11. The way the movie starts out, I was fearing it would be another super pro America movie. Once the main cast gets to Afghanistan, it turns into almost a western in a way. The movie actually becomes more about Afghan soldiers who were fighting the Taliban. Chris Hemsworth did an okay job, Michael Shannon (who's not really in it a whole lot) did fine, and Michael Pena was just kinda there. However, I thought Navid Negahban who plays the Afghan general stole the show for me, he was great in it. As for the action, it's pretty damn good in a video game sense. The final battle in the movie is pretty much Battlefield 1 levels of action. Overall, it's a good movie that surprised me.

Phantom Thread

Paul Thomas Anderson bounces back after making Incoherent Vice to make a simple romantic film that tries to have some layers to it. It's a movie that is all about the subtly in their performances. Daniel Day-Lewis was really good in this, although I don't think it's anywhere as great as Bill the Butcher or Daniel Plainview. But the two that I thought really stood out in this was Lesley Manville and Vicky Krieps. They also did a great job on the cinematography and without question the costume design. However, I thought this could have been a bit tighter. Also, I wasn't sure if I missed anything, but I wasn't sure what to make of the ending. Overall though, it's not great as people make it out to be, it's just good.

Mr. Right.

It's a steaming pile, but Sam Rockwell makes it somewhat worth watching.
