OCEAN'S 8
Debbie Ocean(Sandra Bullock) assembles a team of women to pull off a seemingly impossible heist....shades of the previous Ocean films follow.
I enjoyed watching these wonder women on the big screen together which include :Bullock ,Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham-Carter, and Cate Blanchett oh and i cant leave out Anne Hathaway as a conceited and needy actress.
They were all charming ,funny and lovely.
There's a smooth and beautiful flow to the film especially in it's first half. The planning of the heist, and the details of it really appealed to me as it plays out on the screen.
My major gripes with the movie:The inclusion of a certain character, the explanation of why the character was doing something didnt ring true to me.
The pacing of the film's last act was a bit drawn out ,not as bad or as boring as the late pacing of 2004's Ocean's 12 but boy did i start to feel this films running time.
In the end i got a fun heist film with some flaws but the talent on screen cant be denied.

Hotel Artemis
Gone are the days of when a criminal had to run to the local paid off veterinarian or disgraced doctor to extract bullets and get stitched up...well at least in this movie anyway and the movie im talking about is
Hotel Artemis.
Criminals can receive all types of medical care and in this film alltypes of criminals converge on the hotel,in which secrets are revealed bullets fly while the biggest riot in California rages outside.
Jodie Foster is definitely the standout as the no nonsense Nurse, who upholds the Artemis rules.I knew there was more to her than met the eye,and couldnt wait for her tale to be revealed.
As her assistant Everest Dave Bautista turns in another good performance.
As Acapulco Charlie Day was definitely tolerable and i loved the one liner he kept stating to one of the characters.
As Waikiki Sterling K. Brown and as his brother, Honolulu Brian Tyree Henry are definitely memorable.
Sofia Boutella was outstanding as the assasin Nice (if they ever make another big screen Daredevil movie i hope they cast Boutella as Elektra)
As Wolf King Jeff Goldblum is great as usual but his time on screen is all to brief.
Speaking of brief i found the abrupt stopping of some scenes jarring. Some had no real conclusion,as if it was saying to the viewer you fill in the blanks !!
I went in thinking i was going to get wall to wall action but in the end i got brief explosions of action that were well choreographed....but i wanted more !!
HA is a fun grind house romp but i was expecting more bang for my bucks !!

Adrift
Based on a true story Adrift tells the tale of two lover's and their struggle to survive after their boat is overtaken by a hurricane and they are left Adrift.
Shailene Woodley as Tami Oldham and Richard Sharp as Sam Claflin do a good job as the couple who fall madly in love almost instantly.
There are strong visuals that connect to harrowing scenes of survival coupled with scenes of raw emotion.
My main problem with the movie:Is it's transition from scene to scene because the film makers chose to structure the movie out of sequence.I would say 85% of the movie takes place at sea there's a scene of the couple having a nice sunset romantic night on the boat, that quickly shifts to a sunny, sun burned and barely holding on to sanity scene, then back to romance, then back to chaos. Some of these scenes where shot with the same overhead shot that it was confusing to know where i was in the film chaos or romance?
I felt disconnected from the story ,i just found it to be jarring and obnoxious. The something occurs that i just rolled my eyes at several times,it just didnt fit in this type of movie IMO.
