Game Night

Hilarious and breezy comedy with a nice dose of visual flair. Jesse Plemons the MVP.

8/10

Jigsaw

Barely resembled a Saw flick.

6/10

Solo

Enjoyed it a lot, right down to John Powell's score.

Pacino and De Niro try their best but this is a total mess, just so muddled with random scenes and nonsensical character choices left and right. 4/10

Hereditary

This was an interesting yet massively disappointing horror film. Don't believe the hype or the trailers, I think it's meant to throw you off when you see it (Why? I don't know). First and foremost, it has a plot is pretty predictable if you've seen some classic horror movies. You can spot where it's going within the first 20 minutes. The thing that sticks out the most is that there's some awkward humor throughout this. The theater probably laughed more times than they were scared. There's no clear direction in tone and I feel like the director thought it could work. That being said, there are some good moments. There's a lot of creepy and trippy horror elements that got to me. And I thought Toni Collette delivered a fantastic performance. She's easily the highlight of the movie. Overall though, it's a horror movie that will leave you confused more than scared. It's an oddity that doesn't really fully work as the director intended.

Hereditary

Keep reading how this film f***** people up, and yet here I am with the biggest smile on my face. Ari Aster is one twisted individual and I love him for that.

10/10

Phantom Thread - 9/10
An enrapturing oddity of a film. On my second viewing, I'm still not quite sure what to feel about it. But it certainly harkens back to the style of (my personal favorites of PTA) The Master and Punch Drunk Love in constructing an eerie world around an enigmatic and endlessly fascinating lead character.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny (2016)

THE TITAN (2018)
I'll call it: Bald Man Loves Water

It's a chill and relaxing movie, but I'm not sure whether they wanted to go for the horror vibe or not.
Sam Worthington's character loves to be in a pool after the operation.

The concept is good, as is Michael Douglas performance, but after a strong first half the plotting unravels. 6.5/10

I own The Star Chamber and love it, but that is as you say due to the lead performances and a very solid first half.

The Lost World : Jurassic Park (1997)

The first film, on dilute. One of Spielberg's lesser films. 6/10.

THEY LIVE (1988)
Quality = 7.5/10
Joy = 3/10

It's that boring, well made but dull.
With Escape from New York, I knew what to expect so it didn't disappoint. This one looked like a comedy from what I've seen of it online, the movie is dry and dull, almost not funny, some bits of argument drag too long

Holly Thompson is a badass, she pushed a wrestler out of her house window with unbelievable ease.

Glossy 90's thriller with a poor script but a decent mystery, Melanie Griffith is not exactly the most believeable lawyer. 5.5/10

It's a shame they didn't take a bit longer with the second half of the film, it felt a bit like they didn't know where to take the story and rushed to a conclusion.
