What's The Last Movie You Watched? XIV

Stagecoach (1939)
Classic western, and the breakthrough role of the effin' Duke (which was great in it btw). The characters are what really makes this movie interesting, because the story is pretty linear.
Loved the Apache attack sequence, but I just wish it lasted longer after all that build-up to it.
2.5 or 3 out of 5, still not sure. Maybe I'll have to watch it again.

The Avengers (2012... duh)
A lot of fun; good dialogues. Black Widow and Iron-Man stole the show imho; the other characters were meh, especially Thor and the SHIELD team, and I still think Norton was a better Hulk.
The villains... forgettable, Loki included.
3 out of 5, but I need to watch it again.

Matchstick Men--8.5/10

The ending twist pushed my suspension of disbelief to the brink (it's plausible but not entirely likely), but Cage gives a brilliant performance in a great character arc.

Lord of War--7.5/10

Another great Nicolas Cage performance in a kind of uneven movie. Most of it felt like a dark comedy, but as the end approached it shifted toward a more serious, political film. The political themes still resonated, though.

The Yes Men--7-7.5/10

The Yes Men's pranks are pretty funny and informative, but I don't know if two of their presentations warranted a feature-length documentary. It's not really a slow movie (especially since it's only 80 minutes long), but some parts of developing the pranks dragged a little. I also wonder if the film made the Yes Men out to be more influential than they really are.

4.5/5

Agreed, really good film. A Chris Nolan/George Clooney team up is something I really want to see.

I would definitely be down for that!

Yeah, I was surprised with this film. I didn't know what to expect but I came out really liking it. I'm real glad
Clooney didn't get with that one woman at the end.
It would have been a bit too cliche and ruined the film for me a bit.

Action Jackson (1988)

The Crimson Pirate (1952)

It's even better that he was willing to settle down for Farmiga, but SHE'S the one who turned her back on him. I fully expected Clooney to have a choice between traveling and settling down

The fact that that cliche was taken away from him, made the film feel all the more real.

Manic w/ Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Don Cheadle and JGL both do great jobs in their respective roles.
Agreed. I saw it a while ago and found it hard to watch, but it really gave you the idea of what it's like to work with troubled youth. Plus, the Deftones and foosball anarchy go hand in hand.

American Reunion

I really wasn't expecting to watch this movie at all until maybe it came out to DVD or something. Although my friend had an extra ticket to see the midnight showing. So of course i was down to go! Anyway with out further or do, i have to say this movie is packed with laughter just like bruce almighty online for a whole 2 hours. Try it

Dark Shadows

It was okay 6.5/10

Shutter Island

The movie is a very well done psychological thriller, which actually makes sense at the end. Something very hard to do.
However, I LOOOOVE the setting and the atmosphere of the movie.

COLUMN SOUTH (1953)

Audie Murphy, Dennis Weaver, Joan Evans, Russell Johnson, and Robert Sterling.

At the beginning of the Civil War, an Army fort out west has to fight Indians and Confederate sympathisers trying to stir up the Indians to keep the Union troops occupied.

Decent little B actioner of the time, interesting to see Dennis Weaver (Chester on Gunsmoke, McCloud tv series) as the Indian chief being stirred up.

Uncertainty w/ Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I think he as usually did a good job, while I liked the premise of the movie it leaves me with a lot to be desired.
