Galaxy Quest. Deserved a bigger following when it initially came out. It's become a lot more apprecated then though.

Best Signourney has ever looked?

^^I think Sigourney looked best in the first Ghostbusters.

Aliens (1986) - extended cut

Remembered and then googled. I'm gonna have to agree. :o

Big Trouble in Little China
A lot different then I remember it being when I was a kid.

Prometheus.

There could have been some lazy writing involved (I'm referring to a certain amount of new creatures that make you wonder why the hell they didn't use the ones from Alien, characters who look and act like so many encountered in the saga before, and sometimes corny dialogues that spoonfeed you the themes of the movie), but directing-wise, it was every bit the thrill-ride I came in looking for, with superb photography and art direction.

It may not be super original, it still
is SF at its best

Now where's the sequel already? We need answers, fast. Well... More answers anyway.

Two really great flicks. I've actually planned to rewatch Three Days Of The Condor soon. It's been ages since the last time.

Tonight I watched:

Mmm.. Julia Dietze. :hrt:

Since watching low budget but very funny Star Trek hommage/satire (in Finnish language!) Star Wreck: In The Pirkening, and reading that this lovely and mad Finnish team would do a flick w/this crazy idéa, I've really been looking forward to it.

Knowing that the budget wouldn't been the Hollywood kind, I held my expectations low not to get dissapointed (but I will also do that with over hyped flicks like The Avengers, Prometheus, TDKR, the Spideymovie etc, etc before I actually watch them..).

The acting was a quite uneven, and the script was perhaps not perfect, but it was highly entertaining. The humour was on a good level, without resorting to boring slapstick or imitating old Leslie Nielsen jokes. A couple of nice movie references, a satire on USA, North Korea, Finland (!) and actually the whole frakking UN.

The CGI and effects was really fine considering from where this unintentional Bay-satire is coming from, and the space scenes were actually longer than I hoped for. It's not a masterpiece, but I hail my Scandinavian brothers for this highly enjoyable flick. The concept is awesome, and IMO they delievered.

The old favourite Udo Kier didn't perhaps get as much screen time as he by default deserves, but at least he was in the movie.

Tilda Swinton was awesome, and I think she deserved an Oscar nomination here. Great drama IMHO.

^^Daym, I've totally forgot about that flick. Was she really that hot?

The Flying Sowrds of the Dragon Gate Inn

These Wuxia epics genreally get it right. This one was ok, but below par. Better than Sorcerer and the White Snake though.

Bram Stoker's Dracula

This one gets a lot of flak. But I like it. Definitely the kind of film I'd like to make one day on a technical sense. A huge gothic epic, shot on sound stages, with matte paintings.

Dark Shadows

Not too shabby. I liked everything in the film that wasn't the tired fish out of water jokes. I really liked that Burton toned down his visual style to a thin veneer in the 70's sections. Not that I'm expecting it to happen, but if Depp and Burton where to call it quits, I know just the guy who could fill in;

I just watched that again a few days ago. Great performance by Sam Rockwell. I just found out he based the character on Hudson from "Aliens".:yay:

Just saw Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

Fairly forgettable movie. Only good thing I enjoyed was the Ghost Rider Character, in his visuals and performance. Just so much better than the first.

7.5-8/10

I was surprised by this film. Not because of the action, but the performance of both lead.

Re Cliff - Part I -- 3/5
Even though at times it was a bit silly and overly melodramatic.
