The Amazing Spider-Man When and how should Gwen Stacy die? - Part 1

During. Make it like the comics. Only thing they would have to change is that Gwen gets herself involved in the fight rather than Goblin specifically having to go after her, since she knows Peter is Spider-Man. Sort of like what happened in TASM and will probably happen with Electro in TASM2 as well but Goblin won't be as kind as Connors or Max.

Yes, please do.

I liked when MJ picked up the piece of wood and tried to hit Doc Ock with it, but of course she failed. It was like the studio's response to the complaints about the New Yorkers throwing stuff at the Goblin in SM1. Same with the train passengers saying "if you want to get to Spider-Man, you're gonna have to go through me." That didn't help, did it?

I just hope that Gwen doesn't get involved in a fight in each movie, or else it will become too repetitive.

ESB like classic story telling is the middle film, where it ends on a bad note. The middle of most stories is basically where crap hits the fan and it leaves the third act for the hero to rise up and comeback

I think that's the point. She'll dodge bullets and everyone will be like "does she have to be involved in every fight" and them wham she actually gets it.

1. Every film has to do what's best for it and that's not necessarily what's best for this story.
2. I'm kind of sick of every film feeling like they have to have an "Empire Strikes Back" sequel or something. Only TDK and Star Wars have done it to great success for a reason.

They'll wait for TASM3, if they're smart. Shock everyone (who doesn't know she's gonna bite it) by killing Gwen off early in the film, a la Janet Leigh in Psycho. Killing off the "star" so early on would be awesome, IMO.
This is how I'd handle it too. Build up the audience connection even more in TASM2.

I prefer theShape's idea for killing her off at the beginning of TASM3.

Now that I think about it, that IS a great idea. Just kill her off at the beginning. But if they decide to kill her at the end of 2 I'll be fine with it. All that matters is the execution.

... I disagree and really???? TDK and star wars arntt the only successful film series....

Hell even Harry Potter followed this pattern with goblet of fire smack dab in the middle. Every epic follows this pattern. Why try to fix a proven pattern that aint broken?

Batman , harry Potter, lotr , star wars...

Notice what these films do...and why they are all epic? They're 3 films treated as 1 story. Each film can stand on its own, but when part of a larger story.... They become epic. This is what Sony is trying to do with this.... By setting up a trilogy with an over all arc of peters family.

I think 2 will end with the death of gwen and finding out Norman is responsible for his parents death

The problem i have with that is the audience won't really be that invested immediately if it happens early on... For half the audience won't have seen the previous film in 2 years... You gotta refresh peoples minds and flesh out emotions for a emotional shock. Otherwise a shock is all it is

Gwens death should break hearts.... Not just suprise people.

As much as a trilogy tells a complete story you still have to let each film breathe on their own

Would uncle Ben or The Waynes death have any emotional weight if they both happened 5min into the films?

I'm thinking back and forth. I'd still stick w/ in the 3rd act of the 2nd film. I know I keep going back and forth but it just makes more sense.

Yes, and the sky is blue.

Once again, every story has to do what's best for IT. Obviously they're making this a story arc, that's not the issue here. The issue is the timing of Gwen's death and what makes the most sense for this story arc. Killing her off in the second film creates several discrepancies that will not benefit the film and quite frankly takes away from it and also your claim of them being able to stand alone as well.

I think 2 will end with the death of gwen
I wish Vegas allowed bets on this.

Its like when they killed Spock at the end of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Even though it was only the second movie, people grew to love the character over three seasons of The Original Series. They were both shocked and had their hearts broken over it.

When Rachel died in TDK, I was only shocked, but her death didn't affect me in any emotional way. I never cared much for the character to begin with. I'm sure a very small % of viewers shed a tear over it. With Gwen, it should make people sad that she was killed.

Especially since it's adorable and lovable Emma Stone getting the axe.

I felt more emotional when Jean Grey died at the end of X2: X-Men United (mostly due to Wolverine and Cyclops' reactions). But Rachel's death was... meh.

See theres the clincher... People didn't feel for Rachel... They felt for Harvey and Bruce

Jean greys first death at the end of x2 is also a prime example.

With Gwen, we need to feel for Peter, but we also have to feel hurt that Gwen is no more.

And we will. There's plenty of films that build up enough emotion in one film.... Titanic, terms of endearment, marley and me, etc.......two films is more than enough to build that emotion up especially with the lovable Emma stone

The biggest way to drawl out emotion in sadness is when at its highest point of happiness you pull the rug out from under the characters... So take amz2 have them be them cute selves throughout the film he defeats electro and you think its all over when its not.... Gwen is grabbed as Norman is first revealed in costume... And then she's killed....

Spidey 3 should deal with him struggling to move on and taking down osborn while struggling with what it means to be a hero and revenge

This could still happen if she is killed in the beginning of TASM3. He has to deal with her death throughout the entire movie while fighting the Goblin and uncovering the mystery about his parents.
