Who do you want to see as Captain Marvel?

Now Chastain, two years younger than Theron is too old to play Carol? You see where this is leading? I'm sorry that very talented actresses, world class talents whose presence automatically give the character credibility with the audience don't gibe with the imagined ages some have of the comic book version of the character but it seems this issue is really blinding some to what the actresses being disqualified for their age bring to the table.

I think age can and should be a factor for certain roles. I myself think Deathstroke shouldn't be played by an actor closing in on 60. Someone like Pitt or Reeves are older but easily look younger than they are and are in phenomenal shape. I think they could offer more to the role than say a Steven Lang who is 62, especially since Deathstroke is a Capt. America type fighter. Also, while Deathstroke has white hair it's not because he's over 60. Add that up and yeah, an actor in his late 50's to early 60's probably isn't the best fit for a DCCU Deathstroke that we'd all like to see go up against BatFleck the way he did in the Arkham game trailer on the big screen. But disqualifying Chastain and Theron because they are late 30's? When both are in great shape (Theron slightly better in that dept. mind you) and could pass for far younger easily? These are super talented women with bona fides that would add weight to their on screen personas if chosen for the part of Carol.

If the bone of contention is that in someone's personal head canon or even EXPLICITLY stated by comics (something I'm not sure is even so) history of the character is that she's closing in on 30... So what? These are the films and as Marvel has shown again and again they disregard fealty to the books whenever they please.

I want a Carol that can be a commanding presence even around Captain America. I want her played by an actress that can go toe toe in a screen with Downey's Stark. I want a Captain Marvel that when she threatens the bad guys with a beat down the audience buys it. Some of these younger actresses, while pleasing to the eyes just don't have that. Chastain and Theron do, in Spades, but this age thing seems to be blinding some to that. Hopefully even if Marvel goes with a younger actress they keep in mind that Carol needs the attributes I listed, else this isn't going to be very pretty, even if the actress chosen is.

Sounds to me like you want Hillery Roddam Clinton. NO.
Charleze Theron. NO.
Emily Blunt. NO.
Marvel is good. Marvel is Wise. Let them run there processes and we shall
NOT be disappointed.

Did this get posted?

http://http://www.mtv.com/news/1985416/jessica-chastain-captain-marvel/

1) it sounds like she's already been talking to Marvel about something.... Very similar to the Boseman situation, maybe.

2) she is really enthusiastic about taking on a superhero role. She wants a costume and a fight scene!

Article was updated
"NOTE: A previous version of this article suggested that Chastain might have had discussions with Marvel for the Captain Marvel role in a future movie. However, MTV News has confirmed that this is untrue. In addition, Chastain herself has clarified via twitter saying, “Oops uh oh… I’ve never had talks about Captain Marvel. Was referring to a different film from over a year ago, in my recent MTV interview.”"

Chastain and Blunt have both come close to working w/Marvel before, both would be solid picks and at least Jessica sounds like she'd be happy to take the role (dunno if anyone has asked Emily). If we don't end up with one of them I'll eat my hat. Mark your calenders with this post.

Um... What
Just seems she's being thrown out as every female marvel character.
She is a very good actress and very attractive. I just do not see her
as Captain Marvel. I also do not see Charleze for the part. I saw her
in Snow White and the Hunstman and thought she really is looking
"Older"

Dude... are you... preaching? Am I supposed to say A-men? Is there an offering plate going around?

Their processes are going to lead them to someone like Emily Blunt. And, as you say, you will NOT be disappointed. Hail Hydra

Preaching? no. Having my prayers answered with all this marvel mayhem at the movies coming down the line. Looks like I'm going to visit the boards a lot more to keep up. If I get Emily Blunt ; I'll live with Emily Blunt until marvel gives me reaso NOT to.

I'm sorry... Where da fudge does anyone, ANYONE, think that a woman in her late 30's is akin to Hillary Clinton in the part of Carol? Wanting Carol to be a strong character is the same as wanting her to be Hillary? Seriously? As for "faith" in Marvel that should be unquestioning... People that think IM3, THE DARK WORLD and AGENTS OF SHIELD are all sub par say hello.

Out of the possibilities that keep getting brought up, Emily Blunt and Katee Sackhoff are the two I don't want. Well, and Natalie Dormer isn't a good idea because she's been in the universe. I'd be cool with Chastain, Strahovski, Winnick, Rosamund Pike, Teresa Palmer, Brit Marling...I don't know that I even have a favorite for the role, although I'm sure Charlize Theron would kill it.

I love The Dark World and AOS. I like IM-3. I have 100% faith in Marvel Studios. My thinking on casting choices is based on my love of the Comic
not for the upcoming movie. Comics are by nature personal whereas, movies are a publicly shared medium. What you may consider the perfect casting choice for a character may have me going WTF?? I require all of your opinions on these choices as I have NOT seen every single movie these actresses and actors have been in. In these things I respect your input on the abilities and correctness a choice has for a part. The final product is for Marvel to mold.

Uh huh... And the Hillary thing? I know a low post troll baiting with obtuse questions when I see it. I don't think for two seconds you are being genuine and for sure I don't think you need a run down on EVERY film Chastain or Theron has been in. Da fudge is that obtuse jibber jabber. You played your hand with the Hillary comment kiddo. Go play your game some where else.

you are correct. A low post count would indicated this. I could retort with the fact a high post count could mean you type faster than you think. I can safely say I was a marvel fan before you were introduced to your first keyboard. I do appreciate your constant vigilance against trolls though. Carry on.

Emily Blunt is a name I like the idea of. She's been quietly establishing herself as a standout player in sci-fi/genre fare, but up until now it's mainly been in leading lady roles secondary to the male star. It'd be nice to see her take centre stage as the headline star.

hey guys! Thanks for the positive feedback on my Winnick poster!
Thought I'd share my PERSONAL favorite for the role- Katee.

Jennifer Lawrence? HELL NO!

At this point casting her for any other comic role would be very uninspiring.

This kinda reminds me back when Megan Fox was the "it girl" people would constantly suggest her for just about any female comic character that needed to be cast.

I've liked her for awhile but I finally got to see Edge of Tomorrow earlier tonight and holy crap she was badass. We'd be damn lucky to land her for this.

Theron or Blunt, thanks.

That's quite the low temperature narrative hermano. But seeing as I saw Superman the movie in theaters in 1979.... Yeah... So sorry, so sad.

I really dislike the idea of Sackhoff in the role. She's never struck me as a good actress
