Who do you want to see as Captain Marvel?

Winnick! If she's not the splitting image of Danvers, which admittedly changes a bit depending on artist or animator, I'm a blind man.

I know Vikings isn't watched by a whole lot of people, but she's absolutely tremendous on that show. Jessica Chastain is an excellent actor as well, and has a considerably higher profile, but I don't think she's as right for the part as Winnick is.

For a Marvel role, I think "fit" supersedes "profile". I mean, look at the Chrises: Hemsworth, Evans and Pratt. They just fit their respective parts better than anyone I can think of... people who were considerably more "famous" than they were at the time they landed their respective roles. If Winnick is cast, I think it will turn out to be a similar situation.

True, but I think it's important to distinguish between "fits" and "looks like." Those guys weren't cast because they were the spitting image of their comic book counterparts. Because at the time they were cast, they weren't the spitting images of those characters. They were made up to look like them after winning the parts on other merits.

I'm not against Winnick - I like her on Vikings and on her guest spot on Nikita, so I think she could potentially be a good choice. But I also haven't seen her play a role yet that had many traits that reminded me of Carol. That doesn't mean she can't play those traits; it just means she hasn't shown them in the roles I've seen her in yet, so I'm not as convinced of how perfect a "fit" she is yet.

Yea, I get that... admittedly, the fact that she's a splitting image of Carol did play a part in my overall fan-casting calculus, but it isn't just that. Just the way she fit so well into a hyper-masculine society by being feared and respected as a warrior... but without losing her feminine identity and without it seeming forced or gimmicky just convinced me she could play Danvers and play her well. It was last year (or maybe the year before) something in my head just went "THAT'S DANVERS!" when I was watching the show.

That's quite the low temperature narrative hermano. But seeing as I saw Superman the movie in theaters in 1979.... Yeah... So sorry, so sad.
As did I. And to this day I am still waiting for blue guy to get that
level of attention which is his due. I was watching Supes when all
three channels still aired in black in white. I AM glad to see there's
still a few of us older better conditioned fans around though. And I
will still thank you for keeping the boards enteresting to visit.
Carry on.

I don't know why the physique is such an important requirement. If that were the case most of our heroes would be played by male models and pro wrestlers.

10 Actresses Who Would Be Perfect As 'Captain Marvel':

http://www.starpulse.com/news/Kevin..._medium=referral&utm_campaign=crowdignite.com

Most of the choices are names we've discussed here, but miss out names like Emily Blunt, Jessica Chastain and Charlize Theron. Some of the choices in this list are just plain weird though, like Lucy Hale, Dianna Agron or Rose Leslie.

What no Miley Cyrus? Emily Osment? Victoria Justice? Dove Cameron? I take it Hilary Duff is too over the hill?

God help us if Disney tried to cast this vs the folks at Marvel itself

It's Hollywood I'm sure they don't want to put an actress over 30 in the role. :p

I am all for Chastain. It it happened, I'd love it. Also a long shot like Brie Larson would get all my attention.

Brie Larson looks way too young. She's already young at 25 but she looks even younger than her real age, like she's an undergrad in college

Brie Larson has "old eyes", Matt Smith style imo. She can play older and younger then she is.

I'd like to add another name to the list: Sarah Jones.

She was in Alcatraz (Detective Rebecca Madsen) and the second season of Sons of Anarchy (Polly Zobelle).

Good actress, is the perfect age for the character and her bewbs would look great in costume.

In SHORT TERM 12, Larson played someone who had the whole world on their shoulders, a young woman who supervised a youth care home. She came across as mature and grounded. She can play world weary with the best of them. But her other roles show a bright, humorous side to her (21 Jump Street, Scott Pilgrim….) She's incredibly versatile.

She was robbed of an Oscar nomination in my opinion. Out of all the younger actresses mentioned, I'd be absolutely on board with Larson getting this.

Is there any chance that Charlize Theron would take this? I mean a multi-film deal. I'd love it but can't see it happening. But Emily Blunt must be realistic after her past associations with Marvel. And this is one of the biggest female roles available in the MCU with Sue Storm and X-Men out. Would be good for her.

Chanstain will be too old to play the physically demanding role of Ms Marvel/Captain Marvel for 8 years (presumably)

Blunt looks nothing like Carol.

My picks are either Katherine Winnick or Yvonne Strahovski.

I really dislike the idea of Sackhoff in the role. She's never struck me as a good actress

Oh I agree with this 100%. She's probably hands down the actress I want in this role the least.

Brie Larsen is a very interesting suggestion. She's clearly very popular and talented and she has a fantastic sense of comedy so I think joss would love to work with her

Huh? Winnick's like 7 months younger than Chastain. Look, Winnick's my top choice, but when you disqualify Jessica Chastain as being too old to play Carol, it's more than a little... weird.

Not to go all bubblegum-pop-psychology on you, but to you it seems to be more about wanting a (personally) sexually idealized Carol than a younger Carol. And I really don't think that's the right way to go about casting a superhero character.

Sarah Gadon

This is more realistically what we'll end up getting but everyone is so delirious that they can't see outside their fan cast bubbles.

Also everyone can stop suggesting Chastain, she said that she has spoke with Marvel about a possible role but it is NOT Captain Marvel.

You do realise casting hasn't started yet and won't for a while, right? Of course she hasn't spoken to Marvel about it

I wouldnt be so sure about that. If she's set to debut in a film prior to her 2018 solo, she'll likely be cast some time in 2015. I wouldnt be surprised if they have names in line and have begun talking to some agents and actresses about it

And so spake Boseman. And Cumberbatch. And a whole host of others. Take that wishy-washy I had talks, but they were about another character stuff with a pinch of salt. To rule her out abjectly based on what she said would be a mistake IMO.

Which really shouldn't be a problem, considering she's a fantastic actress

Also, I don't know how one looks like a character whose appearance changes with every artist?

After the movie comes out i'm sure she'll be drawn to look like whomever is cast to play her.
