Halle Berry is almost 50 years old. Did her age cross your mind when she was kicking ass in Days Of Future Past? And by the way, she was also PREGNANT with her second child while they had her suspended on wires for these "Storm" flight scenes. Like Charlize, Halle keeps herself in fighting shape and looks amazing.

So um...check this out: Charlize is about 10 years younger than Halle Berry now. So let's please come off the "Charlize's too old" bulls***. It simply has no relevance on a genre based on fantasy. We're supposed to get lost in these characters while watching them on screen, not thinking about the actors' IMDB profile stats. Charlize would be better qualified than most of the actresses on this list.![]()
I remember a Q&A show that Zack Levi hosted for his charity earlier this year,in which Strahovski was the guest. From what I remember, she seemed enthusiastic about the role when asked, and said she had spoken with Marvel, but wasn't at liberty to say what had been discussed.![]()
While we're on that panel I'll throw Missy Peregryms name in the ring.
You do remember that DOFP took place in the future? Storm was older and yes HB's age did cross my mind, but it wasnt an issue again bc it worked with the timeline and story. When casting Carol, they should aim for an actress preferably in her late 20s/early 30s. Anyone who is about 40 now should be out of consideration. The movie is 4 years away and if successful, one would hope that would lead to sequels. If they are thinking of long term potential, this should play a factor in the decisionNo offense, but I find your thinking in this matter rather shortsighted.
I have something to say: this whole "She's too old" mentality here is ridiculous. It's not about the age. It's about being physically able to pull off the role. Charlize Theron is in PERFECT shape, is an Oscar-winning household name and could seriously give RDJ and Chris Evan's characters a run for their money. Hell, she could command Scarlett around with conviction in a way that audiences would buy it.

Berry really isn't a good example. She was originally cast in her early 30's, her role was never that physical (particularly in DOFP, & certainly never as physical as Danvers would need to be) and is pretty much done with X-Men now if rumours of casting a younger version are to be believed.

HB wasn't headlining the film. She played a relatively minor role with limited screen time. CM is being groomed to be something bigger and if successful, will continue to star as lead of her own series of films over the next decade. Taking a 50 something in a small supporting role in an ensemble film is quite different than the same person as the lead character in a solo film. You both are missing my point.
If Charlize were cast now at 39 and this franchise spawned say 3 sequels over the next 6-8 years, she would be Halle Berry's age NOW by time the 3rd installment arrived. In other words, she'd be just fine with handling the role in her early 50s, as her male counterparts i.e. Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo have.
Age is nothing but a number. Talent, beauty, Oscar chops and fine acting--that's far more valuable than getting a young actress just because she's young. Imagine the massive built-in audience a Charlize Theron-led franchise could have by the time a third sequel arrived.![]()
Emily Blunt..Based on a combination of acting skills, looks, height, age, whether they're too well known, how big a star they are etc, who do people think Marvel are most likely to get for Carol?
Not whom do you want or whom you think Marvel should get, but who is more likely when you factor in all these things and how they have to carry a franchise for several years.

Im not sure Id put Hemsworth in that category. Thor was his breakout role. He was a lesser known actor with a very limited resume at the time of castingI think they've proven they can take lesser known names and make them into stars. However, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Scarelett Johanssen, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson--in other words, all of their headlining stars--were already established actors prior to being cast as Marvel characters. If they had Benedict Cumberbatch to the mix as Dr. Strange I think we can see a casting pattern: they are going to go for gold. Never has Marvel cast a mainstay character for their films that had me scratching my head saying "Who the f*** is that?"

Therefore, I see Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt being their top choices. The other actresses are strong contenders but not enough to carry a franchise--unless you surround them with copious amounts of big "name" actors in the film.
Yvonne Strahovski seems to be in Marvel's wheelhouse. She's not a mega star, but has something of a following/promising future (I.E. Chris Pratt) and they could probably sign her up for multiple films without draining their pockets. She looks the most like the comic character of the actresses mentioned, and she has the history of doing physical/action/fight scenes in the past. That's why I think she's made to order for the role. But,we'll see if Marvel feels the same.
Well, I had that reaction with Chadwick Boseman and with Chris Pratt (I don't watch Parks & Recreation). Also didn't know Chris Hemsworth that well either when he was cast.

I guess I knew all three actors before they joined Marvel's universe. But I see your point. Chris and Chris were certainly not A-listers at the time. I just saw Chadwick in his biopic film so his name wasn't entirely lost on me. I still believe they f***ed up by not bringing in Djimon Honsou (considering they wasted him in Guardians Of The Galaxy) but...I digress.![]()
With Chadwick Boseman, I had a Djimon Honsou-type reaction of "Who?" when he was cast as BP.
