Who do you want to see as Captain Marvel?

Indeed, but I'm just gonna go right on back to blocking that film from my memory, thanks. :oldrazz:

And honestly, MM might just be in my top 5 favorite suggestions I've seen for this role yet. Once upon a time, she was my #1 pick for Lois Lane, but I think she could do just as much justice to a character like Carol, too. I also just remembered she was blonde in the first movie I saw her in, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, where she had a great rapport with RDJ. I'd love to see a KKBB reunion here, and if she gets the chance to dropkick him through the wing of a jumbo jet which they both then have to rescue, fine by me. :D

Do you have Feige's email address? Because someone needs to send him that idea stat!!

Oh God there'd be riots.

Dame Judi Dench then? :woot:

Actually happened in the comics. It was during her alcoholic phase and I think she might've been a little drunk at the time, so I've blocked the plot out (I'm really not a fan of those times), but her drop-kicking Iron Man through a jet during an argument was a highlight one doesn't soon forget. It was supposed to be a "screw-up" moment for her, but I just enjoyed the visual. :D

Hell yeah, she's not tied up by the Bond franchise any more so the timing's perfect! ;)

EDIT: Found it, and yeah, she passed out from alcohol poisoning right after they saved the plane, so not exactly her proudest moment. -

Can we put an instant ban on the words "too old" in this thread please?

What in the heck does Maggie Q HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING!!!! What are you even taking about? Who here was even talking about replacing the actress that's currently in the role? This comment would've made more sense if we were getting a report for a casting announcement for an Asian female for a role on AoS but it isn't. Do you even know if Agent May's character was supposed to be asian or the actress was simply just cast to play a lead female character who's also a senior agent? Since she is a senior agent it would make sense that's she isn't as young as the other female agents on the show. This age thing is getting old.

You're the one who brought up how Wen is a shinning light for age and doing a great job. I'm countering that by saying the role would have been done better in my view by a younger/better looking Maggie Q.

Emily Blunt would be a great choice in my opinion.

What film could we possibly see Carol in before Captain Marvel? Cap 3 is the only real possibility in my view.

Umm Ok. So now you want the woman fired cause she's not the age you want her to be????Please don't tell me you didn't say it but you may as well have. I also did not bring her up as the shining example of age. Some one else posted about her I was just saying it's silly all this age crap. I'm not advocating for a 50 year old woman to be cast as Carol but I'm saying I don't have a problem with someone being 37 like Chastain taking the role.

Maggie Q. is 35. So again, going by the comments of some, she's "too advanced in years" to play ANY kinds of action role.

This. "Too old" doesn't apply unless she'll hit 50 by 2018. Too Young doesn't apply unless she'll be under 25 by 2018. 35 is not old. It's just not.

If Katee Sackhoff or Emily Bunt want to be Carol, they audition and get the role, I support it and won't call either, "too old."

If Shailene Woodley or Dree Hemming gets cast as Carol, then I won't call either, "too young."

Also, Paul Rudd is over 40 and he's playing Ant-Man. Robert Downey Jr is pushing 50 and he's still Iron Man. age doesn't matter as much as talent.

Not to mention these are professional actors signing contracts worth millions. They will keep themselves in shape to play these types of parts.

Ladies and gents, I think this age debate has turned circular at this point. Every point (both for and against the oldies, the young 'uns and everyone in between) has been exhausted. Everyone's opinions have been aired and so has everyone's counters to everyone's opinions. What say we put a moratorium on the age debate? Can I get a hell yea?

So, how 'bout that Winnick? :)

I'd prefer Katheryn Winnick, but I'm not particularly bothered about who they cast. I'm just glad the movie's happening.

Sounds like a great idea to me.

Is it just me or are there really quite a number of actresses that could be a great Carol? I'm rooting for Blunt but I can definitely see a number of the ladies being suggested in the role too.

It's true. Certainly easier than finding someone like Thor. Marvel's got plenty of great options to choose from no matter what level of recognizability and "name recognition" they're going for.

The exact contract makes them go lazy sometimes

Remember Toby Maguire?

Lets throw out too old and too young.

seriously we are going to have a age range of 27-29 the way this is going.

Because nobody is entitled to an opinion except you?

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be allowed to continue complaining about decrepit old people stinking up your movies for as long as you like.

Until you become one, anyway, and they take away your keyboard before your brittle fingers begin to snap like stale pretzels.

Would love to see Yvonne get this. She'd knock this out of the park imo.

I've thought that too. Every time I see a new recommendation I think they could also do a good job. I actually thought there would be a lot of good actors who could play Cap so I was horrified by the initial shortlist.

OK... Not trying to knock Marvel, but seeing how they got Benedict Cumberbatch for Strange (obvious-- GREAT choice, but obvious because of years of buzz), they'd be crazy not to consider/approach Blunt. I at least want that much if she doesn't sign on.

Fine with me. I don't see the problem with obvious anyway.

Haha, that shortlist was terrifying.

As long as the actor is right for the role I don't care if they are "obvious."

I can't remember them all but was that shortlist the one with Chace Crawford? I think I was Team Kransinski and Team Ackles (lolwut) on that one.

With the big names they chased for Dr. Strange, I'm feeling more confident that they'd aim higher this time around. I mean, they might not go for an A-lister, but I don't think they'd go with the Chace Crawfords.
