I did not mean to single you out. I was merely commenting on the thread topic.
I don't think it's likely that Giacchino has been confirmed to compose honestly. Why would they spend oodles on a guy like him and then get Menken to compose one song for the USO show. If Giacchino was composing they would just get him to compose the song.
They'll probably get a lesser known composer like they did with Thor and Iron Man.
every Oscar for Social Network is a farce. Even if Reznor is getting the awardAt this point, Giacchino was sort of my top, but unattainable, choice simply because he's so in demand... but I really, really, REALLY like Powell. How to Train Your Dragon's outstanding.
So if it is him, I'll re-reset my composer-meter back to Powell. Good, solid choice!
ETA: I'm glad he's nominated for HTTYD, although I, and my 90's college freshman self, is rooting for Trent Reznor and Atticus Rose to take the Oscar for Social Network.

Yeah I agree. Seems like composers are somewhat of an afterthought for Marvel movies.I guess Powell could work. Not that I'd be doing back-flips if he got it or anything.

John Powell is one of the best composers working today. He elevated X3 beyond words.
Obviously. I honestly don't remember any memorable themes from any of Marvel's movies.Just because they don't get big names doesn't mean it's an afterthought for them.
Iron Man 1 had a very clear theme. Memorable or not, it was there. And the presence of a theme doesn't mean that the people making the score didn't care.Obviously. I honestly don't remember and memorable themes from any of Marvel's movies.
I dont think it had a clear theme. And I'm not saying they don't care, it just doesn't seem like having a memorable score is on the priority list for their movies.Iron Man 1 had a very clear theme. Goddamn awesome.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKa0oq6EvsQ
Listen from 4:10 to 4:50. Imagine that playing in the finale of the trailer. It would be perfect for a Steve Rogers centered trailer.
Hell, the whole thing is golden.
