Homecoming Who should be the Villain in Spider-Man (2017)? - Part 4

I still hold Mysterio is the best choice for the first film. I would hate to see him end a trilogy, there's not really much buildup for him. You need someone like Venom or Ock to end on a high note after lots of setup.

He's extremely boring, I mean he's a good character but they've done that already and I don't know if they could do something much more interesting. He's basically just an obstacle, a monster, so character wise it wouldn't be anything deep or interesting.

The only way he would work if he's in the same movie as Kraven which brings me to something I really want Marvel to do this time: use more than one villain per movie, and NO, I don't mean making multiple MAIN villains like they did with SM3 and TASM2. They can take advantage of the Spider-Man lore appropriately when they have a chance. For example if Mysterio is in the next movie they could pair him Chameleon, they could also use Shocker/Rhino as henchmen for either of the main villains, or what I mentioned earlier about Kraven and Lizard, etc.

As Harry would say:
 I think a great way to plant the seeds for Ock is to have him appear in the first two films as a background character

This!! :applaud It's the best way to set up Sinister Six, have two villains for each movie: one main villain and one side/intro/hench villain.

Hmmm, my idea for a Spider-man film would involve the Lizard and Kraven the Hunter. The basic character constellation and plot would go like this:

The “main” villain, so to speak, would be Dr Connors who's mutated into the Lizard by accident and looses control of his Lizard persona. His mutation would progresses more and more throughout the movie, turning him more feral and into a predator that stalks New York, killing and eating people. Spidey tries to capture him to turn him back into Doc Connors and back to his wife and son but he's outmatched by the Lizard, who's strength and ferociousness as well as the Lizards cunning prove to be quite a roadblock to that plan.

As the Lizard's body count rises, the New York government calls in experts to take care of the threat. One of them is a famous big game hunter who vows to take down the "Manhattan Man eater". This is of course Kraven. He's would be a very prideful man with a strict code of honor, more of an anti-hero type of character than an outright villain, and he swears to take the Lizards head as a trophy and he's never failed to catch his prey or make good of his promises, a fact he's endlessly proud of.

Spidey is now caught smack-dap in the middle of a conflict between New York’s Finest, the National Guard and Kraven and his cronies on one side and a ferocious, cunning, man-eating beast on the other. He tries to save Doc Connors from Kraven and his henchmen, while also trying to protect everyone else from the Lizard. All the while, trying not to get himself killed by Connors or to be taken out by the Police or Kraven.

In the end, Spidey would manage to save Connors and de-mutate him, reuniting him with his wife and son, while Kraven would be publicly humiliated and “traumatized” which makes him hold a deep grudge against Spidey and would lead into a "Kraven's last Hunt" type of scenario for a future movie.

With the exception of a few things mentioned, that's basically what I have too for that scenario.

I think Kraven works best paired with someone like Lizard or Scorpion for his first film, then bring him back for a later sequel as a more damaged, rugged version of himself to do an adaptation of some sort with his famous storyline. Giving Kraven that storyline for his first film completely wastes the character, IMO.

Edit: I also think it'd be cool to have Connors be saved and briefly reunited with his family before being apprehended by SHIELD to keep him from harming himself or any other people. One thing the USM cartoon does right is having some key villains be contained by SHIELD, but where it fails is having 'em mostly sky bound if I remember correctly. From there, you could use Connors similar to that of USM where he's working with them as this would serve as a balance to keep himself occupied but also be a helping hand.

I want Doc Ock again! :cmad: :csad: No, but seriously, I hope they close out the trilogy with one of Spidey's iconic big bads; Ock will have not been seen for almost 20 years by the time we get to the third film.

Agreed. Ock best choice because we have had too many Goblins and Venom now off limits thanks to Sony. Thanks Sony for that lol.

it really cant be to much longer to we have at least name of which villain is in the film. Unless they are going to wait to they have actor locked in and reveal it as so.

For me i rather do solo 1: Mysterio or vulture with a secondary foe, solo 2 do kraven or scoprion with again a secondary minor threat if kraven put chameleon in there. Then 3rd film either do a new green goblin take that been built up during first two films or go for a full on sinister six that been built up from first two films with foes jailed at the end and then a break out and out for spidey head story.

As for villains the most likely ones we bound to see be reused any time soon would likely be norman and ock just for how big of characters they are. But again we dont need to jump right to them and we know marvel isnt planning to do that. But i wouldnt be surprised if by 3rd solo we have either ock/goblin done in some fashion.

*Doctor octopus, just cause sony is working on a venom script we dont know for a fact if that prevents marvel/sony doing venom/symboite story for mcu spidey. For all we know this try on venom film doesnt happen just like the last few times they tried. Personally i bet it wont happen and if the solo film does well and gets sony/marvel spidey in a good place sony would likely see its better to have venom appear first in a spidey film then do the logical spin off after you already built up character in another project first. Just like how spidey is getting down now with being in civil war to his own new solo.

Brock Venom? With no Spider-Man? Arad has to be involved as well. Have Spidey bond with the symbiote at the end of one of his solo films then have him swing around in a bunch of other characters' films with the black suit, showing how it's affecting him over time, and then deal with the consequences of it in the next solo. Just give us the faithful old stalker.

I still seriously doubt a spidry less venom will even get off the ground. I would think in time marvel will convince sony it be a dumb move. And honestly you think sony wants to do another 150 mill mistake. They can't keep doing bombs that often if sony wants to be a company still.

I love this look for Mysterio, is very much just cloth but something of it just really makes me like it!

ya cool drawing but not digging that look so much. I could see something more of a iron man type suit with for example the helmet/masks astronuts use and then in the film to make it look cooler or what not the helmet is glowing or has somkey looking design inside and what not to keep the illusion who he is up to the helmet is destroyed. A look for example i think could work is that smoke guy in a suit from hellboy 2.

oh totally next to wait are you wearing a fish bowl on your head.

Yeah it does look like light bulb man... It needs something at the base that goes around it.

And how quick a simple comment showing a Mysterio Redesign can revive this thread!

Thats the mysterious power of mysterio! :funny:

Really rooting for Mysterio or Kraven in the number one spot with Scorpion and Vulture as close seconds.

Still I want mysterio the most. Second place vulture. Still for me I rather see kraven or scorpion held for sequel. So we have spidey perception to nyc built up a bit. Plus have some good jjj hate already built up. So having kraven or gargen in sequel a better fit.
