Homecoming Who should be the Villain in Spider-Man (2017)? - Part 4

Guys come on, what's with all the untagged Civil War spoilers everywhere around the Hype? It's still opening day in North America. A lot of us still haven't had a chance to see the film.

I don't have any evidence for this, but I suspect Marvel will give first priority to GG and the original members of the Sinister Six. I don't think we'll see anyone else anytime soon besides villains you could have in the background like the Chameleon. But as far as main villains go, I think they'll first stick to those seven.

That being said, I also don't think they'll reuse any Raimi/Webb villains anytime soon. Even if they would, GG is too big of a villain for your first film. That narrows the options down to Mysterio, Kraven and Vulture. IMO, it's not a stretch of the imagination for Vulture to be the villain, especially not when he was the first major Spidey fought in the comics (I know Chameleon came first but I'm referring to physical adversaries only).

Yeah for the first two films at least, I'd prefer they'd use villains that haven't been used before. If they do decide to bring in Norman, I'd rather it be as a background villain for the second film and doesn't become Green Goblin until the third.

I think it's only a matter of time before they decide to bring in Vulture. They've been trying to put him in a Spidey film as early as Spider-man 3.

I think considering how wet behind the ears he is, the mob supervillains is what I say do first since a huge portion of his arc will be dealing with high school drama.

Vulture, Mysterio, Shocker....I'm hoping for some of these villains. And Doc Ock at some point. He's got to come back.

Actually he'd be a decent Sandman too.
He would also be a good Rhino, he would be a good fit for a low level thug type villain, if he was any of those that would be awesome (and probably pretty funny also)

I really want to see Eddie Brock involved in Peter's life. Develop him over the course of the first two movies, then have Venom. I really feel as though they could nail Venom this time around.

I just hope they introduce Brock earlier on and then wait for the right moment until he becomes Venom, I want to see some good character building from him.

Sandman I would go with Liam McIntyre

Oh please it's not a spoiler. We saw it in the trailer.

They can find a way to keep Vulture interesting if they go with him. Remember this is Marvel at worst we'll get a Thor: TDW, IM3, IM2 type deal. And those movies may, from what I hear, be the worst Marvel to offer. So we're good either way. Marvels bad movies aren't even really bad.

For S6, I can see Ock coming back.

But add Kraven to that list and our list is the same.

Speaking of S6...

I think if by the end of Homecoming, if Vulture is dead or if Vulture is in jail is a clear indicator to whether they got Sinister Six in mind haha.

Well, for all the flack TASM series got, it kept its villains alive (which they thankfully learned from the Raimi trilogy). Marvel Studios, on the otherhand, doesn't seem to understand the importance of keeping their villains around (minus Loki).

Here's hoping Pascal makes it clear to Feige and co that any villain being used in Spider-Man is to be kept alive.

I'd be fine with this, but I would hope that they wouldn't rule out the Lizard in this scenario. I would like to think that since they could easily include him in a film with an unused villain like Kraven, not to mention that his previous cinematic incarnation was a bit lacking, would be enough to justify using him again soon despite TASM being only in the recent past.

Venom Eddie Brock he won't be used until an actual sequel is greenlighted but if anything that is why they need to use Norman Osborn/Green Goblin to start off the franchise all over again because with Spidey fighting Norman/Green Goblin even though we have seen it on screen like how many times...Green Goblin is perhaps Spidey's biggest enemy like think Batman/Joker which is why Marvel would be wise to start the franchise off with Green Goblin again like how they did in 2002

As much as i'd love to see a Marvel based Green Goblin, Spider-Man has only had his powers for 6 months. For this first movie they should start off with a villain whose not as formidable like, Mysterio, Shocker, Vulture or Scorpion, and just establish Norman Osborn and the rest of the supporting cast first before we delve into the GG saga, because as you said GG is what The Joker is to Batman, Lex Luther is to Superman, The Leader is to Hulk. Setting up Norman first will make his desent into the GG all the more dramatic and effective.

I wouldn't mind seeing Hobgoblin or Chameleon first either.

I still hold on to the belief that as Peter becomes more and more experienced with being Spider-Man, so too should the villains.

Meaning that someone like Vulture is perfect for next year.

Then in two years? Maybe someone who presents more of a challenge like Kraven? Then in two/three years? A juggernaut like Doc Ock or Green Goblin (whom I'm currently tired of seeing but absence does make the heart grow fonder).

It would be really stupid to kill off their villains.

At last, a fellow Hobgoblin fan! :woot:

And yes, Norman should be a part of the story from the beginning, we need to finally be able to watch his transition to mad villainy.

I still say it would be cool if we got someone small for the first movie (cough cough Spot cough cough)
