Providing it doesn't mean actual footage is cut from the film who would like to see a proper full-length opening sequence for the movie? I personally would love to, especially now that the theme is established. I think it would really psych people up.

I never would have thought about it, but a few weeks back, we were discussing this, and I realized that the sense of anticipation that you get sitting in the credits really adds to the experience, so I voted for the credits.

On the flip side. Fox seems very concerned with run-time. If Fox says: "This movie can't go over 2 hours", I'd rather they cut the credits than other parts of the film.

Yeah, I get ya. I wouldn't want it to end up detracting from the movie...

Aye.

The first time my heart sunk (when I saw FF1 for the first time in theatres) was when they showed the opening credit sequence...such a letdown. It was, by far, the lamest, most uncreative and tepid CGI intro I've seen for a Marvel film. :down Especially after all that talk David Gorder made about Tim selecting a slick entry into the film. And what was up with the music? That theme was barely used in the film, and it was because of that that John Ottman's defined general motif never really clicked with audiences--the piece he'd done for the "original" CGI sequence was cut last minute (you can hear it in its full brilliance however on the official score CD thankfully).

I really hope they put some imagination into the opening credits this time and make a real statement for once. Packaging is everything, and if you have a generic introduction, usually it is a sign of more generics to come.

The FF1 intro was lame, and seemed like no effort was put into it...and then it abruptly (SP?) cut off to the first scene, lol. I hope they try something different for the sequel. Anything different would be better than what they gave us with FF1's intro :p

It doesn't really matter to me at least for FF. Batman Begins and Collateral had no credits at the start i think, didn't hurt those movies.

If they're going to do full opening credits... how about a refresher of sorts of the time between the end of the first movie and the beginning of the second?

They could have a mix of live action and still photos (or artwork like the Spider-man movies) that detail what's happened to the team since defeating Dr. Doom. Highlight some crucial battles, some accolades from the media and fans... establishing them as the premiere heroes in the Marvel movie universe.

Here's where I think you can show what happened to Doom without really having to spend time developing his restoration. Press clippings and images in a moving collage would be most effective.

Thats actually a REALLY cool idea, I like it a lot.

  A montage showing that they have battled other foes is almost a must if we're expected to see them as a seasoned superteam now.

X-Men never opened with credits either, but that whole Cerebro door thing seems to have negated any complaints about it. What I would like to see for credits is multiple newspaper headlines complete with photos about the random things that have happened to the team since last, and have the photos actually move, akin to those Harry Potter newspapers, showcasing them fighting a villain or exploring some unknown place.

Ideas me like.

Caliph, I am the same feelings as you but as others have mentioned they seem to be going away from signature opening credits in films these days. James Bond films always had Saul Bass (I think that's the guys name) come up with a special sequence that was so intricate, for example, that Paul McCartney had to write "Live and Let Die" specifically to synch up with it.

But then if they had longer opening credits, we wouldn't get all those wonderful commercials

i definitely want to see opening credits this time around.....it just gives the film a more epic feel, imo.

And make sure it has a lot of those operatic Gregorian chant type vocals that make these movies more ominous and grand than they would normally be. :p

Ahhhhh-AH!
Ahhhh-AH! ;)

Story should hire you bro

i think the credits on the first movie bothered me more than anything... it was like, 7 seconds, than BAM! done.

it bugged me.

I had the same feeling. It was odd how the credits just appeared and then that was it. It was like maybe 5 seconds long and it was over, it just felt a bit out of place.

Well yeah, because it was like "what's the point"? What did it really achieve?
