Who will be Strange? - Part 3

Not sure if the last few post are serious. If he started negotiations yesterday, the chances of it being finished today are slim to none. Especially when one of the major points that needs to be hammered out is schedule. He might not do it, but he is their pick and if they can make it work he will be Strange.

This is nothing new by the way. Cumberbatch was asked about the role during the summer and mentioned that schedule was a big thing.

If Cumberbatch isn't official, then I'd sure like Marvel to ****ing announce the actor they pick already. The constant roulette of actors they have been "announced" then denied is getting annoying.

Marvel should not have allowed all the trades to run with it then if it turns out that Cumberbatch isn't Strange and everyone ends up with egg on their face for announcing it prematurely.

No one is going to have eggs on their face because no one said that the deal was signed.

everything I saw was that he was in final negotiations, that they would have to work out schedules/logistics.

Honestly, it feels like exactly where we were with Phoenix, the language being used. On the 1 yard line, final stages. etc.

It's not the draft. There's more going on than just picking someone. Even if Cumberbatch isn't official, that could men anything between still working out details to jut dotting the i's and crossing the t's

Final negotiations typically just means, "Alright, we're doing this! Let's just sort out back-end/residuals/final contract demands/etc..."

I'm still going to jump the gun and believe the casting is going to be official soon.

Originally that article said they were in 'final negotiations'. I distinctly remember focusing on that as soon as I saw it, because I knew peeps would be jumping the gun.
So Rod Schneider isn't the Sorcerer Supreme?!

Yes.

The problem with Cumberbatch's casting is if anything, he should be playing Dormammu or Shuma-Gorath instead!

No, Keith Szarabajka should be Dormammu. He has the voice for it and I'd love to see him do some performance capture.

Shuma Gorath... well that's a hard one to cast. He's popular in Japan thanks to Marvel vs Capcom and has tentacles so I'd say Ron Jeremy should be the villain in Doctor Strange 2. (No, not really.) Shuma Gorath wouldn't even be performance capture, he'd just be a voice role.

And keep in mind that Doctor Strange 2 might use Baron Mordo or Chthon as the villain. Dormammu just need to be Strange's first villain.

The casting for Dr. Strange, Marvel’s next signature superhero, has become such a cluster***** that for a couple of months now, it has seemed just as likely that a three day old breakfast burrito would play the part as an actual human actor. The latest rumor, coming yesterday courtesy Deadline, is that Marvel has circled back to Benedict Cumberbatch and he’s now in talks for the role. Because I have zero confidence in the Dr. Strange rumor mill, I wanted to wait until after Marvel’s big event today to write about it.

And sure enough, no casting news came. Maybe they’re talking to Cumberbatch. He’s long been a studio favorite for this role—I first wrote about the possibility in May 2012—but I also know they’ve been taking a serious look at someone else. This deal is not yet done.
...
And the other name. The one no one’s really talking about. It’s a good name. It would excite a lot of people. I would be perfectly happy to see Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange, but I’m not going to lie. I’d REALLY like to see the other guy.

Oh please stop already. One person, make them sign and get it done.

Another thing we need to consider..Strange has been moved to November. Filming is not going to start till at a year from now at the earliest. This casting thing may drag out all the way to comic con next year

I think Deadline was wrong. Maybe hes in negotiations for another Marvel role, like something in Inhumans.

Cumberbatch is the PERFECT Adam Warlock. He would kill in that part.

So if they have got around the Hamlet thing. Then would that mean Dr Strange is getting delayed?

I don't know if anyone caught it, but it's been moved from July to November.

DOCTOR STRANGE might just be the 2016 superhero movie I'm most eagerly anticipating. Doctor Strange is such a cool character, and it's a corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe we haven't explored yet. I'll be watching the development of this very closely.

Is he still chicken pot pie if he manages to Oscar for THE IMITATION GAME?

I'd think he'd at least graduate to bone-in ribeye ;)

Pretty sure getting an Oscar won't improve his mediocre american accent.
