Who will be Strange? - Part 3

Cumberbatch is so famous for his fangirls that sometimes it's easy to forget he is a great actor who lives up the hype. I think he will do great.

You mean the hype, like Stark Trek Into Darkness? Or the hype leading up to when he played a giant CGI dragon that somehow managed to be worse than the GoT dragons even though it had a much higher budget?

Cumberbatch has yet to impress me, and if he gets this role I really hope this is the time he lives up to the hype, but I really doubt it.

Also, you might want to change your location from "isis" on your profile, ever since that whole terrorism thing

I'd be excited if Cumberbatch wasn't fancasted for every movie. -_-

Thats a silver lining. If he's actually Doctor Strange, most people will stop fancasting him in every other Marvel role...

People fancasting certain actors all the time is ****ing annoying but that's not the actors fault.

I try to not even go into fancast threads anymore.

At least we'll still have Nathan Fillion.

They should hire Cumberbatch to do a live-reading of this thread. Then his followers can post GIFs on Tumblr.

And getting another comicbook role doesn't stop the obnoxious fancasting. Fassbender was fancast as Batman a lot before that role was cast and he is playing freakin Magneto.

Gosling & Blunt aren't getting enough of a mention here.

Ryan Gosling is being saved for a dramatic reenactment of Cumberbatch's performance as Dr. Strange.

Would it be dramatic, or would he just glower for 20 minutes and then mumble something in a monotone voice? :)

I kid.

So who would make a good choice for the Ancient one opposite Cumberbatch? The characters are probably going to be spending a good chunk of screen time together before Strange takes the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme. If he were still alive I'd say Mako. James Hong?

Choi Min Sik.

Hmm... How is his English? I can see it, how he could fit the role, though at 52, he's a little young. Still make up and all... Not a bad possibility.

It must be a done deal now with this Marvel event going on tomorrow. It's not like Marvel would let all these newspapers report Cumberbatch's casting only to reveal someone else in the role tomorrow instead.

Hopefully he will be at the event.

Brits and Aussies play American all of the time. It's not a big deal. Idris Elba has played an American on numerous occasions. AAA has also played an American. Chiwetel Ejiofor got nominated for an Oscar for playing an American. Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, Tom Hardy, Russell Crowe, Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, Naomie Harris, Clive Owen, Ewan McGregor, Anthony Hopkins have all played Americans. Hell, Tom Hiddleston is going to play Hank Williams Sr very soon.

So how is Cumberbatch playing an American different then what these other British/Aussie actors have done?

Sweet Jesus. I'm not saying the actor himself, I talking about the character being changed to british AND NOT THE ACTOR.

Pretty impressive list. Don't forget Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter and Adrianne Palicki as Mockingbird.

He's kind of a horrible person in interviews, saying some borderline sexist/racist (especially against Muslims) stuff, and he makes rape jokes. A lot.

He's on my [expletive deleted] list. Won't pay to see him in a movie. Will rent his stuff from the library for a week for free. :woot:
