As far as whether Sahelene's scene will be one that includes MJ is interesting...

They cut Shae's out of TASM2, but kept this one shot of the taxi landing on another car in front of a diner in the trailer.

We'll see if it makes it into the movie, but even if it does that doesn't mean that it's MJ.

It will actually be very interesting if they do keep that scene in as far as the credits. Will it be listed as:

MJ....... Shaelene Woodley

Or more likely:

Waitress....... Shaelene Woodley

Again, that's IF it even makes it into the movie.

The truth is that I like Shaelene Woodley as an actress and feel she might of pulled off an ok MJ, but what they did with her in the scenes they filmed for TASM2 scares me. That is not MJ! That is not a character that the GA can fall in love with after being given Emma's Gwen.

We need a friend for Peter. Someone who cares about him enough to try to at least be there for him. Someone who is not pushing themselves on him, but we all know will develop into that towards the end of TASM4.

I'm not so sure that Shaelene can be that. And again, what they showed us of Shaelene's part in what they filmed is most definitely NOT that!

I don't want MJ to be some biker chick. I don't want her to be some goth chick. We need to have classic MJ, and that means a smoking hot girl who is out of Peter's league, that isn't as superficial as her looks would make people think. SOmeone who has more going for her in the brains department than people would think based on her looks. In other words, it's the "don't judge a book by it's cover" idea, even though that cover is amazing looking!

but you didn't see the scenes, how could you possibly tell what shailene did or didn't do? and what does her riding a motorcycle take away from her ability to be a friend to peter?

you're putting an awful lot of blame on shailene when all she did was show up and let whatever marc decided to do to mj be done. "shailene can't do/be this, shailene can't do/be that, mj needs to be like this or like that and shailene is just not it," that's not her fault. firstly because looks are very much subjective and though you act like your opinion on her beauty is everyone's, it really isn't. there are people out there who 100% thinks she looks like a supermodel. and second, it wasn't her decision to be dressed the way that she was (and who knows why she was even dressed like that. maybe it was a part of her story, maybe she was gonna be bombshell mj all along but dressed that way in tasm2 so when she appeared in 3 she'd evolve and dress more like a grown, sexy woman and THAT'S when peter would've paid attention to her. you don't know that. and it's not for you to say what the ga would fall in love with or not, there's no formula to determine that. who would've thought coulson would ended up the most popular guy from the avengers getting his own show and everything?

and we don't NEED an exact copy on 616 mj for her to be important and fun and still resemble the original but also be something unique to these movies. we didn't get 616 gwen and no one seems to have a problem with that. it'd be cool to see it, absolutely, but this obsession is so off putting. this is an adaptation, it's what marc wants to see on screen, it's his interpretation of the characters, it's all through his perspective, of course it's not gonna be exactly like each of us wants, that'd be impossible, and criticize and actor, or even a director, for that matter, for it is going a little too far. we were never told we'd be getting everything from the comics panel by panel.

I could see her also as MJ She could use breakthrough role from Hermione. MJ is amazing and completly different character so why not But you need consider she is now established star actress and I dont know if she would be interested into committing another franchise this soon after Harry Potter.

While I think Emma Watson could work, I don't think it would be possible for me to watch the movie without thinking "Why is Spider-man dating Hermione?", and I would be waiting for Dumbledore to show up on a broom.

^ You know I'm actually not sure whether the Ultimate characters are meant to physically look different from their 616 counterparts. Peter was able to recognize her so the physical differences could all be due to age, personality, clothing tastes, etc. Then again, in that same issue Gwen scoffs at the idea of MJ being a supermodel whereas 616 easily turns heads (we saw her during her younger years in Parallel Lives where she was doing just that), so maybe it's only just a slight resemblance. Certainly 616 MJ and Ultimate have vastly different personalities.

Either way, (unless they make her significantly younger than Peter) she'll probably be as old as her 616 counterpart in Webb's universe.
