As far as I'm concerned, Cap's shield is indestructible. And I heard that the only way to destroy it is to de-molecularize it something.

Nope. Strong enough beings have broken it in the MU.

Anyway, this thread shouldn't be about Cap's shield.

Well it stared off about Thor hitting his shield and then kind work it way around to talking about its durability.

I've been itching to reply but like Odinson stated, this thread should be about Thor, however; I have seen that shield dented by Thor and then shattered by Loki in EMH and shattered by numerous other beings too, sooooo.....
I'm still hoping for at least a slight dent when Thor slams Cap in the movie, lol.

They wont do it. Hulk won't be able to lift Thor's Hammer, Thor won't be able to dent caps shield. There gonna leave what makes the characters special intact.

What is that? Is that Loki magic flying by Thor there?

It looks like one of the alien chariot ship thingys. You can see it a bit betteras it passes the gap by their feet.

I see the one near their feet, but the purplish shadow at Thor's right shoulder looks like it just misses him....unless its just an odd angle or something....

I don't know, I think the only being that has ever broken Cap's shield with strength was Thanos when he possessed the Infinity Gauntlet. Otherwise, its been damaged or destroyed by cosmic level beings before, such as Odin, but when a Skyfather zaps something with energy, how can you say its raw damage and not molecular manipulation?

The Serpent shattered with his hands, and Thor (who was starting to tap the Odinforce) made a huge dent on it with Mjolnir.

It's the ghost of a dead stuntman that was picked up by the camera in post-production. Really spooky stuff.

Both of whom are/were Skyfather level, so my point still stands. For all intents and purposes, unless someone is a Skyfather, they aren't damaging the shield.

As for Cap his vibranium shield is virtually indestructible. So that gives him a slight upper hand

Of course I'd love to see Cap wipe the floor with Thor, just as he did in Avengers:EHM

Nah, Thor is like a million times stronger, more durable, and more experienced than Cap plus he can control the weather and you can't possibly think Cap can defeat a tornado (he's also faster and more agile).

Cap was way overpowered in the EMH episode, I can understand him outmaneuvering Thor a couple of times but they went too far because Thor is clearly a warrior with over a thousand years worth of combat experience. Thor was portrayed as too much of an oaf in EMH in my opinion, it's like they forgot that he's actually a skilled warrior.

To be fair, here, Cap didn't really wipe the floor with him so much as he basically outmaneuvered him and knocked him off balance in this instance. (which would be cool to see in film, but I'm good with him just holding his ground/breaking up the scuffle)
In a full on one-on-one battle, Cap is truly overmatched here.

Exactly

I don't see how anyone would think that Cap should ever "wipe the floor" or even stalemate Thor besides I'm pretty sure Thor was trying to subdue him in EMH without harming him.

I think this is how I like it. Cap is the weakest of the "Big four"; he has no shot against Thor or Hulk (Iron Man is more powerful, but Cap is capable of taking him out), yet he is the leader, the "Captain" of the Avengers. Without him, they would be a dysfunctional mess. With his leadership however, they are the Earth's Mightiest Heroes. That's what makes Captain America special, not his strength or speed. Here's hoping Whedon can deliver this in the film.

Bingo :word:

Also, while he may not be able to *beat* many opponents, between great skill and an indestructible blocking weapon, he may be able to *occupy* opponents well beyond his power for brief times. Being able to buy a minute, or even ten seconds, as a powerful opponent tries to squash him, can make all the difference in a big fight ( give time for reinforcements to arrive, for a stunned teammate to recover, for a plot device weapon to be assembled and aimed, etc ).
