Nah, Thor is like a million times stronger, more durable, and more experienced than Cap plus he can control the weather and you can't possibly think Cap can defeat a tornado (he's also faster and more agile).

Cap was way overpowered in the EMH episode, I can understand him outmaneuvering Thor a couple of times but they went too far because Thor is clearly a warrior with over a thousand years worth of combat experience. Thor was portrayed as too much of an oaf in EMH in my opinion, it's like they forgot that he's actually a skilled warrior.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who thinks so. Sometimes I watched Thor in EMH I thought "He's not the fastest, not the brightest wtf?? Is it my fangirl wishful thinking that I want to see Thor almighty?" Doesn't seem so or not only.

Exactly

I don't see how anyone would think that Cap should ever "wipe the floor" or even stalemate Thor besides I'm pretty sure Thor was trying to subdue him in EMH without harming him.

If Cap ever wipes the floor with Thor then goes something completely wrong.

My fangirl wishful thinking agrees with you. :woot:

This can never happen, unless he becomes mortal again of course. Either way I would devastated! lol

Welcome to the club, mara, you're not alone!:word:

I have to agree. I think Thor got Worf-ed a little too much in EMH. Sometimes it worked ( the Kang arc ), sometimes it very, very much didn't ( the series finale ).

Indeed, Thor having trouble to defeat a lightweight like Zemo was a joke.

Just curious; in the comics...is Thor's biological mother still alive?

And if they do introduce that factor into Thor's character for the MCU, I wonder if they'll give an explanation as to why she never approached Thor when he was on Earth during the events of "Thor" and "The Avengers".

Oh and as originally presented by *Marvelfreshman*

hehe. Love this subject! Gaea was alive and well in the series that came after Fear Itself.... "Under the name "Jord" she mated with Odin, who wanted a son who would be strong on Earth (not just in Asgard) and gave birth to Thor. However, Thor was not told the true identity of his mother." So unless it's somewhere I haven't seen, Thor hasn't a clue. I'm not sure if the MCU has Frigga as his biological mother or not, though it does seem she is as far as the MCU is concerned. To me it seems Thor's powers are because of Gaea, ie; Nature Control. Plus he's always "drawn" to Earth. I too would love for this to be addressed in the MCU, maybe causing a little tention between him and Odin driving him to come to Earth and stick around with the avengers. :cwink: :woot:

Interesting; is there a reason why Thor was kept under the dark about his mother's real identity, let alone why Gaea didn't choose to raise Thor herself?

Well I can't remember in its entirety but I do recall seeing Odin come back for Thor after he was born and Gaea didn't seem too upset about it, she wept but it was because she saw Bor in Thor. "He has his eyes", so I guess she was willing, maybe promise of a better life or something like that. Perhaps Odin fears telling him, specially after the Loki incident....

Ah I see; though I'm confused, who's Bor?lol

The thing that fascinates me about this factor is that one, it opens up areas of drama that we can see portrayed on screen, and secondly, it adds another realm of heritage that we see can explored for Thor's origins.

Bor is Odin's father. :yay:

Absolutely! There are so many possibilities that could be explored! The family drama worked well in Thor and is obviously being carried into avengers. These are things people can relate to so that's why its so successful.

Cool; thanks for letting me know.

Yeah, it seems like Thor's family issues definitely has consequences for the 9 realms as well, as evidenced by Loki's downfall. I guess Odin forgot to read the manual that being a good father to two powerful children was essential in ensuring the safety of the nine realms as well.haha

I mean here's a guy that:

1. Kept Loki's heritage away from him, thus scarring him from life when he learned the truth.

2. Kept Balder's true lineage from him as well in fear of what would happen if Balder died

3. Kept Thor's heritage from his mother's side a secret as well.

With fathers like Odin, Betty might start wondering if she does have it good when it comes to her own dad.lol

Odin kept the secret about Gaea and forbade her to see Thor, because he feared Thor would choose Earth over Asgard.

And the irony in that from what I understand of Thor's history in the comics is that Thor still ended up becoming attached to Earth and I've seen stories and interpretations where Thor has chosen Earth over Asgard, even before knowing about his real heritage when it comes to his mother's side.

I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes a major issue for Thor in the future of his franchise; heck, wouldn't it be dramatic if at the end of Thor 2, Thor chooses to stay on Earth willingly rather than being on Asgard.

You're welcome!

Indeed, it seems Odin's parenting skills leave something to be desired. lol

Always comes back to Earth....

And agreed!

People also forget that Thor isn't just a powerhouse, he's a highly skilled warrior and he's to Asgardians what Cap is to humans.

He also stalemated Captain America in the comics while powerless and in mortal form, so for anyone to think that Cap is able to constantly outmaneuver Thor is sorely misinformed.

The thing that I wonder most at times is why doesn't Thor just take leadership of the team in this film when the focal point of the threat that plagues Earth is his own brother? What makes Thor give up that spot and follow Captain America instead?

Aside from that, it's definitely going to be amusing and hilarious to see imho Thor's perspective of seeing how dysfunctional the rest of the Avengers are from his end. I liked that Chris said that Thor says a good amount of lines that leaves his teammates baffled due to their inability to understand on what he's saying, and his whole "You people are so petty" line was hilarious.

He'll certainly not accept orders at first. The same applies to Stark.:word:

So you would prefer Thor gets beaten to death like he was in Hulk vs.Funny how you forget all cool things he did on the show and I used to think the Cap fans were the hardest to please

Imho, I felt that some of Thor's greatest moments were displayed during:

1. His fight with Graviton; he dealt the final blow that knocked Graviton into defeat and his whole feat in carrying the landmass back into the ground was awesome.

2. His second fight with Ultron; definitely badass imho.

3. I liked how Thor held his own against the Leader's forces, especially when he owned Absorbing Man.

4. Thor having deflected Kang's energy beam was cool as well

Honestly, given all of the animated interpretations of Thor that I've seen thus far, EMH's was definitely my favorite for having fleshed out the character while having maintained most of his badassery and how strong he really is.

My theory: I think Thor is more interested in "saving" his brother then anything else. He may feel that no one else understands and its nobody's business if that makes sense. But since us mortals are upset about whatever Loki did Thor is willing to tolerate our ways/laws for a time hence [BLACKOUT]allowing them to take Loki back to the helicarrier, I think Caps diplomacy skills have something to do with this. :yay: [/BLACKOUT]

I also think Cap will inevitably earn Thor's respect, and recognize Cap's leadership/diplomacy skills. Always seems to be the case. Thor is more of a warrior who prefers "aggressive negotiations". Pound first ask questions later. lol He also will not take orders at first since in his realm he's the one that gives them, a prince who answers to no one save Odin, and even then is always defying Odin. :oldrazz:

The "you people are so petty" line is a dead give away to how Thor feels about everyone IMO, and it made me giggle as well. :woot:

Just my two cents... :yay:
