How about a Superboy movie then to explain stuff, but not like SV.
Better then SV actually, and done right.

I wouldn't say that not immediately depicting the entire origin is considered dropping you in the middle of things. It is, after all, a separate entity. It's no doubt why practically ALL origin films seem like two different films edited together. Krypton is merely the genesis and background history of the character, but it's by no means necessary in showing a clear arc from small-town boy to world-renowned superhero.it could probably work, but for me like i said with any restart we need to have at least certain aspects shown/talked about so we know why things are different then others. Instead of just dropping in the middle of something with nothing of the past being shown/talked about at all.
Origins have been done to death (especially Superman's). Give it a rest.
All this origin fever brought the most outrageous blasphemy in all comics history: Wolverine's origin.
There is absolutely no proof that origins cause attachment of the audience to the character.
Why would you skip that?As long as you start out with his first day at the daily planet and throw in some flashbacks to smallville I think your good. No need to do a linear origin like STM
I'm saying that if All Star Superman, the most accessible and most praised Superman book this decade spent a mere three panels detailing the origin of superman, than a film version dosent need to waste an hour using the same template it did thirty years ago. Either way, I couldnt care less. If they dont show an origin, fine, but if they do, hopefully its short
i think the only reason people dont want to see it, cause they think its something not needed since we had it with STM and all the other live action/animated takes since then. But i personally think if this is to be a whole new begining we need it so we can clearly show everyone this isnt like the others and we get a whole new look to krypton/smallville new storylines about last days of krypton, and pre superman life for clark kent. There is many ways things can go. I said it before i personally would really hate that all the film supermans are stuck in the donner setting. Yes i love it alot, but that was a thing of the 70s/80s. The character has changed alot and fans have grown to like different aspects of the character. So it would be great to have more elements fans want to see finally have their chance on the big screen.
All Star Superman was playing to the comic book audience... the fans already live and breathe Superman's history. It's not a viable comparison to the General Public.
The GP needs to understand it's a complete reboot. You can't sell them on that idea with a quick rehash of what may or may not be the Donner version of his origin. It needs to be told in as much depth as necessary to let the casual veiwer know that it's a completely unconnected retelling.
