Agreed. I think the cane was pre-Bane. He was using the cane in the masked ball where Selina said that "a storm is coming" meaning it hasn't arrived yet.

I think people are looking at this wrong. The stadium, breakout or revolt haven't happened yet for sure, but that doesn't mean Batman can't discover Bane and try (and fail)to stop him.
Bane can be operating underground trying to build unrest in the city, perhaps before his bomb is completed.
In this theory, he'd be in prison a month or so, time for his forehead to heal and beard to grow, and regain limited mobility. Bruce would coincidentally get back to Gotham the night before the football game, he'll see the whole Bane thing happen but be powerless to stop it.

His back? No. If his back was broken he'd be bed ridden and then in a wheelchair. Nolan is not going to miss the realism of an injury like that.

I think he'll just injure him badly enough that Bruce is not physically fit to be Batman and needs a cane.

Agreed. This isn't Knightfall, so there's no real need for Bane to break Batman's back or put him out of commission entirely like that.

You don't honestly believe Bane and Batman meet, Bane breaks him, then there's an 8 year gap and Bane comes back again?

You can't possibly be suggesting Gotham is under Bane's rule for 8 years either lol.

Saem here. It would mean that Bruce would have only been Batman for 6 months before retiring for 8 years. So much for being "Gotham's protector", huh?

but that would mean that when Bruce is not able to be batman at that time Bane is doing nothing. that is bad storytelling IMO. Bane needs to do something huge when Batman is away. thats the point . should they for 20 minutes show Bane building the big black bomb and him walking through the tunnel's?

I know what you mean, but it would just need a few scenes with him and Dr. Pavel, perhaps Bruce managed to delay their plan for a while before being beaten up.
There's two choices, show Gotham under seige for 3 months while Bruce is down a hole and oblivious to it, or have him see it all unfold before him when he's unable to fight back as Batman.

I doubt he'll break his back per se as that would take YEARS to come back from....and even then a full recovery is a bit unrealistic in real life. As this all takes place 8 years in the future, I suspect he'll just leave Batman seriously beaten and broken, but with injuries that will only take months instead of years to recover from. Hence the cane in the trailer which is a far cry from the wheelchair he'd be in after an injury like the one in the comics.

actually if it is just a stress fracture from a hard impact he would be mobile but would be in extreme pain and if he was immobile for a month or 2 it would heal just be stiff and would take 4-6 months to fully recover

I don't think he will break Batman's back but he will definitely slip a disk or two.

nah, the pittsbugh/Wallstreet riot scene is there 2nd or last fight (unless they shot something on a set that's their last fight)

this is straight from an AD's mouth on set (i was a thug extra)

Its the good guys triumphantly returning after months of being kicked ouf of the city, with batman "leading" the charge.

Interesting.

But what about the pic of Bane showing Harvey Dents picture to the crowd? It seems like he's still tryng to convert the city instaed of ruling it?

That is the prison break scene. I think he's only converting people who would like to see the streets filled with thugs.

Having Bruce imprisoned in Gotham and still being exposed to what's happening in his city is quite a potent image.

Merry Christmas one and all. :woot:

I hope he atleast wears Batman down with some kind of gauntlet like he did in the comics. He deduced his identity wore him down completely physically and mentally before they even fought.

I like that a lot more than him just showing up and beating Batman up.

Frank, you're from Philly? I was born and raised in East Falls, on Ridge and Midvale Avenue. PHILLY LOVE, BABY!

Anyway, back to my point. Banes gonna snap that bat-back like a PENCIL. He's gonna just DESTROY that gravel voiced chump and expose him for what he is... nothing more than a billionaire goody two shoes hypocrite with a lot of toys.

He's gonna manipulate batty's spine like a f**king CHIROPRACTOR. And I'm gonna get a semi in the theater watching it.

I don't think Bane will break Batman's back, but I suspect that he'll break his face. I mean, in the poster it sure does look like that Bat-mask took a beating.

in the trailer you can see a big wound on his forehead and blood in his nose.

NOT THE FACE! *insert that American Psycho GIF*

:funny:

If batty isn't gonna get his spine manipulated by Dr. Bane M.D.

....Then I guess I'll settle for a little curb stomping.

Judging from the trailers, I think I have a solid guess at how this will go down.

We see Bruce with a cane in various scenes that must take place in the first act, namely the masquerade ball and interacting with Miranda and Selina. We also see him on a patio above the ceremony for Dent. This all presumably takes place before he fights Bane.

So, it seems to me that Bruce hurts himself fighting some thugs or other character prior to meeting Bane. This sets the tone for him being older, not as quick/strong, being weary of the suit, etc. He decides he wants to ease into his retirement and settle down. Enter Bane. Bruce has no choice but to face him, and Bane easily exposes Bruce's weakness and severely injures him. Bruce becomes imprisoned. We've seen the short teaser shot of Bruce doing pushups in the prison. We've also seen the trailer shot of Bruce in the prison appearing to walk without a cane.

So, for whatever reason he escapes the prison reinvigorated and returned to full strength. The Dark Knight rises, defeats Bane, and saves Gotham.

AWESOME. Philly love, man. You're either from there or you don't get it. LOL.

I hate AZ. I miss the food back home.

I know how you feel. I moved about 3 months ago. I'm missing real cheesesteaks right about now.

I just reread Knightfall. I see Batman was already extremely exhausted before Bane even freed the prisoners fro Arkham. I wonder if they will go that route.

for sure this will be gritty as I never saw a single drop of blood in TDK, but this time in the trailer Bruce has a bloody nose and mouth

Blood is always going to be at a premium because the film has a rating to maintain.

before the trailer, prologue and before we saw Bale with a cane we heard rumors that Bruce Wayne will be old and exhausted. i think the rumor now fits with what we saw in the trailer.

so i think Nolan will use the comic as inspiration. Bruce Wayne is 40 years old and in the opening action scene he will get a small leg injury. so he will have a cane for some days.

IMO
