Guessing Vince sent out a message to all wwe employee's telling them to not send any messages via social media wishing Punk good luck in his new career , I mean you would think at a few of them would wish him luck in his new career

I bet the wwe office is hoping Punk gets his ass kicked. I hope Punk does well just so he can stick it to them even further.

It's funny that they actually rid sign Punk. It was probably like five minutes before they announced it that I was telling the people I was watching the ppv with that UFC would never sign Punk because it would be too much of a "stunt" and come across as a joke to people for the top MMA company in the world to sign a guy with zero fights.

They showed me.

Never watched MMA or UFC in my life.

They will probably have CM Punk face some weak opponents

Gotta say I'm interested to see him fight. I wonder what weight class and who they'll put in front of him? My guess is he'll do two fights and then be done. They'll probably put a bum in front of like when Batista had his one fight.

Jabar's Kryptonite!

That is nice. Plenty of people do that. You think that suddenly makes them capable of MMA? MMA has grown past disciplines. Knowing BJJ doesn't suddenly make you a capable MMA fighter. Brock is a once in a generation athlete, an all time great college wrestler did well. Until he got punched in the face. Punk is no Brock. He is 36 year old guy who has no high level athletic or fight sport background.

Unless they going to feed him actual novices, he is going to get beat up. How could anyone watch the UFC tonight and think CM Punk can do that at any real level. He couldn't last 5 mins with the anyone in the top 10 of the 125 division.

He has yet to have a fight so you simply can't be certain how he will do or progress competitively. White has already said he'll start fighting guys at the same level as regards having at most 2 pro fights.

Personally I think he's taking a huge risk, not physically, but career-wise. Right now as a brand he is arguably the most marketable he has ever been, he has a deal with Marvel and has figuratively speaking fought the machine and won, he should have pushed to get on AoS or in a movie, rather than risk getting embarrassed in the Octagon.

However he's a smart guy, I feel he must have weighed it up long and hard before making the call, and may just surprise the detractors. I also don't think White would have signed him if he didn't feel he could at least make a go of it, as that would be a waste of money.

They definitely should. But even the "weaker" opponents are generally guys who have been training for MMA full time for years.

Either way, they'll probably still put at least his first fight on a ppv show in order to drive sales. If he's a bust (or he doesn't generate the sales then maybe they will start putting him on some Fox Sports 1 shows as they ride out the contract.

This won't be another Lesnar situation. He may drive ratings and buy rates a lot, but he's not going to have a rocket strapped to his back and be thrown right to the wolves like Lesnar was.

I'm starting to wonder if the UFC signing Punk wasn't more of them trying to keep him from going to another org like Bellator. The Punk signing looks silly because the guy has no professional or amateur combat sports background like Brock did. If Punk had taken part in a few BJJ tourneys or muay thai matches that'd be something, but he's going to get his first real combat testing in the biggest MMA organization to date. The UFC usually strays away from that, but I can see that they didn't want Bellator to sign Punk and get huge ratings. The UFC right now is in a transition period, so they could use the ratings boost to get more eyes on their young stars that are upcoming. From that perspective the Punk signing makes sense.

The guy has been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for years now. I don't think he's the type of guy to get into something like this unless heseriously expects Pubk to he could at least put up a fight. I wouldn't count him out just yet.

This comment is exactly why UFC signed him and shows the disconnect between people who follow MMA and understand it and those who watch wrestling.

Batista has been training MMA and BJJ for even longer than punk and he looked terrible against a scrub with a losing record and did not actively fight anymore. Anyone who expects Punk to do alright simply because he's neen training (part time given his schedule on the road all these years) is fooling themselves.

Punk has soi much going against him and the UFC is making themselves look bad on so many levels.

Really? Punk has been doing BJJ for over a decade.

I'm a MMA fan and wrestling fa so for me it's not a clash or attack mode. It's just the cold hard truth. I'd say thecsame if AJ styles was going signed by UFC. im taking Santa pictures with the little one today. I'll go in more detail later about why it's a bad move.

I'll say this much. The initial PPV will draw and both parties will make money. Good for Punk for getting a paycheck. The UFC are the ones who are coming across poorly in this situation not Punk

Jason David Frank, best known as Tommy the Green Ranger, has challenged CM Punk to a fight.

A legitimate offer for Punk vs. JDF has gone out.

You can't make this **** up.

On Punks podcast he mentioned Vince wouldn't let him wear mma shorts or have sponsors. I sided with Vince on that because it didn't make much sense. It's kind of awesome he can do whatever he wants now. I'd love to see him take a stab at acting.

But Vince let Brock do it...

Excellent point, I do with business with UFC and Bellator and I can tell you they both hate each other's guts.

Think of it as a very mini Monday Night War rivalry like WWF vs WCW.

I think UFC needed this as much as Punk needed this.

I am guessing CM Punk will finally acknowledge people who call him Phil Brooks from now on, unless UFC will piggyback the CM Punk name to capitalize on the brand. Which does make sense.

Core enthusiasts will call him Phil Brooks and CM Punk should accept it

Not sure why you quoted me man, I was asking you a legitimate question. Punk has been doing Kempo, BJJ and Muai Thai for a decade, has Batista? If so I truly didn't know he had done any type of martial arts prior to his MMA fight.

I'm not bothered one way or another, liek I said it's not the choice I would have advised Punk t6 make, he doesn't need the money and is in a sweet spot with Marvel, probably the biggest entertainment juggernaut on the planet right now, if I was him that's where I'd have looked to start my new career.

As for MMA fans, the ones in this thread have always been cool, the others I've met around the net are very precious, the idea that the MMA guys are not the best fighters in the world upsets them, despite the fact there are guys trained to a whole other level all over the world that could kill them in the blink of an eye without breaking a sweat.

I think the MMA fan vs wrestling fan rivalry is very one-sided.

I am a big fan of both, and have been for a while. I don't get why there had to be an either/or about it, but like has been said already, certain MMA fans are really insecure about the possibility of being lumped in with "that fake/"gay" WWE bull****".

Like, I understand the MMA vs boxing argument, but the MMA vs pro wrestling argument shouldn't be one. It's like saying you can't watch Saving Private Ryan of you are a fan of real WW2 documentaries.

- Regarding CM Punk's comments about Ryback on the first podcast with Colt Cabana, there was a feeling within WWE that the comments were unprofessional and cheap. It was said that nobody believed Ryback really kicked Punk as hard as he could or intentionally broke Punk's ribs.

On a related note, it was said that almost nobody within WWE had any sympathy for Punk's situation with his various injuries. The feeling was that every top guy on the WWE roster that works a full schedule has a litany of injuries.

Wrestling legend David Ferrier, better known as Jimmy Del Ray in WWE and Jimmy Graffiti in WCW, passed away last night due to what is believed to be a heart attack. He was only 52.

Del Ray appeared in WWE with Jim Cornette and Tom Prichard as The Heavenly Bodies and lost to The Steiner Brothers at SummerSlam 1993. Their last WWE pay-per-view appearance came at Survivor Series 1994. The team later appeared for ECW and Del Ray went on to WCW as Jimmy Graffiti.

In recent years, Del Ray had been running a flooring company in Florida. He made his final wrestling appearance this past summer, reuniting with Cornette and Prichard at the Mid-Atlantic Legends Fanfest.

Yes, because Roidsack has no history of such things that can be seen in numerous gifs..............

This right here is the crux of one of the biggest problems in WWE, the fact that these guys are so brainwashed they actually believe that working with such injuries is normal, or worse noble and heroic. It's not, other athletes do not treat their bodies like this and expect to be looked after by the sport they perform in. A horse or dog would not be treat the way WWE treats it's employees.

Good lord! :hubba

Is that new ring gear?

She said that she just got back in from a show in Augusta and it looks like her hotel room so I'm assuming that's just something she wore on the trip back. It looks amazing though.

It's true to a certain extent but when a guy has a massive lump on his lower back or are losing feelings in their extremities, it's the companies responsibilities to shut them down for a night or week. The ticket stubs say card subject to change for a reason.

I should have gone to that.
