Without the Wrestling Thread, There Is...No...You! - - - Part 188

Link to Punk's appearance on the podcast? I'm trying to go to Cabana's page, but it's not loading for me at all right now. Is there anywhere else I can get the episode?

I finally got a chance to listen to it, and holy hell does Colt Cabana run his mouth about a ton of stuff that no one cares about. I'm okay with him plugging things to make money, but the guy is rambling for over 7 minutes now and repeating himself about what to expect. Get to it! It's only a 32 minute podcast, and he's just wasting time.

Its a two hour podcast

I will say this, I use to regret that I never had the physical shape to be a wrestler. I think I'm over it now.

Not surprised some of the WWE physical tests are a joke.

Does anyone think Daniel Bryan should've been back in the ring so quickly after he got concussed?

IMHO, to me this this is why there needs to be a shake up in the current wrestling system. You are overworking your top guys to death. Not saying they need an off-season but some rotating guys.

Yeah I just figured out that the link I had was only 32 minutes for some reason. It cut off right when Punk was talking about how a lot of people in the industry grew up idolizing the company so they willingly eat a lot of ****.

Looks like CM Punk will succeed where Kardashian failed.

And his answers in that podcast confirm what most people were suspicious of and hopefully reminds people that there are two sides to every story and assuming Punk was leaving just to be "selfish" is not the case.

“I love my fans and the ones that want an explanation. I’m giving it to them but the ones that were like “**** you” and they called me a… I get a lot of “You’re a Quieter” on Twitter because they don’t know how to spell Quitter properly it’s ****ing Wild.”

:funny: :applaud

It's really not hard to believe these fighters have to work through debilitating injuries. Look at all of John Cena's "miraculous" medical recoveries.

Unfortunately, it's the nature of the business. If a wrestler gets taken off TV that could be bad for their career and someone else could take their spot.

Honestly, there is no excuse for HHH beating Punk in 2011 and they didn't go anywhere with it. I mean HHH was turned into the face ultimately. That made no sense.

It's a small thing, but I would try utilizing as much of the roster as I could by incorporating more multi-man tags into the shows. Theres no rule saying you need x amount of singles matches or tag matches. Make the teams a mix of established and newer talent. Have the same people team regualrly to establish some sense of continuity. Not everyone on every team has to wrestle every show, they can just cut a promo or accompany their teammates to ringside.

That way the work load of the matches could be shared by more workers. The big hardworking singles matches are minimalized and saved for the PPVs. Lesser tier talent and made to look bigger by association with stars.

So in a nutshell, I guess I'd try to book WWE more like Dragon Gate.

LMAO yeah...I think some get this mentality that performers should be slaves to the WWE at times and get mad when someone leaves the mighty Vince.

Punk was shooting and he did it for free. #Wow #Respect

For those that missed it.

EDITED: Sorry champ, but I just checked a transcript and Punk says some uncensored words. Can't post a direct link.

The second he started talking about Ryback I knew Nolan would be all over it.

The whole "sponsorship" thing caught me by surprise. So Brock Lesnar's schtick with the whole MMA look was CM Punk's idea. When he resigned in 2011, he wanted a COMPLETE reboot of himself and that included going from trunks to shorts with sponsors on them. Sounds familiar?

Another thing is.....If Punk hadn't turned heel in 2012, we could've gotten The Rock vs. Daniel Bryan at the 2013 Royal Rumble.

It really is amazing how many times WWE ****ed him over royally. Can't say I blame him.

CM Punk confirms everything everyone has ever said about how the WWE is run. Dysfunctional, double standards, short term view, Vince completely out of touch with relevant 21st century pop culture, creatively stifling and so on.

Ryback being every bit as botch prone as he looks came as no surprise. I bet half the roster hate getting in the ring with guys like him and Swagger.
Never really realized how much charisma Big E is capable of.

Yep. Big E has a big personality which could get him over but for some reason the WWE isn't interested in letting him utilize it on TV.

LOL, but do you see the crazy bumps those Dragon Gate guys take?

I'm not sure there is an easy solution to this. WWE is under pressure to keep the ratings up and that means we need to see John Cena ever week on Raw and Smackdown. They have pressure for ticket sales all over the world at live events. I understand that from a business perspective.

However, again the roster is clearly over-worked. I think something needs to be done to give these guys more time off to heal up so they can continue working.

Also that staph infection story is pretty damning.

Just a few examples of how good the guys from A New Day can be if given time:

[YT]gud9K3vALTk[/YT]
[YT]PmQY-r-kK9o[/YT]
[YT]FzHV7hG9aGI[/YT]

they're good so they'll be given basic squash matches, a ****** gospel gimmick and turn on each other in about a month 2 months

edit: as for the punk thing, i'll listen later but it seems to be what anyone with common sense knew already. wwe is going up **** creek and vince is blindly sailing away not giving a damn. if an thats a big if the company is still around 20 years from now people will still be talking about what could have been from 2010 onward

Is it a big coincidence that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were written off TV before this news broke?

I have only read the highlights of Punk's podcast but damn does it cover a lot of stuff we have posted here and were suspicious of, sending him his notice that he was fired on his wedding day is classy.....

To sum up he basically says WWE is a toxic environment that messes with guys heads, doesn't care about their physical well being and is filled with lies and double standards.

He's definitely never going back but his legend will far outlive those that stay, including the nose of noses, all I'd say is that Dolph Ziggler should take heed as he kills himself night after night for something that will never come.

Agreed. Sucks to have hope for that product, but maybe this will be a wake up call to Vince. It probably won't, though, but I only listened to about 30-45 minutes of it on my bike rides home from work. But damn, for someone admittedly trying his damnedest to NOT sound bitter, it sounds like WWE shows a lot of favoritism and shortchanges a lot of their hardest working and simultaneously outspoken guys ian the whole ****ing company.

My God. My gas station is WWE. :shock:lmao:
