Worried About X3? Post Your Misgivings Here

Wouldn't it be a kick in the nuts if FF2 actually ended up being a very good movie? They're planning to use the Silver Surfer/Galactus storyline...

WOW, you are right!! I have been a willing dupe of a sinister PR plot, including the use of subliminal advertising to trick me into thinking the trailer looks good!! If you freeze frame it at just the right moment...

They may have learned from their mistakes. Hopefully.

I've already posted my ideas for FF2 in that section of the hype. They HAVE to go with Galactus to step up the story for the sequel and also introduce Crystal and have Sue and Reed get married and Sue give birth; then FF3 would feature Franklin Richards and Crystal would bring the rest of the Inhumans to help fight him...

...youll see a guy who doesnt know the difference between a well put together trailer and a movie.

Not subliminal advertising, plain advertising. Including lengthy conversations about the greatness of the film ;) Lets not caricaturize.

It just means you should be wise to the game. I think the short attention span generation will prove bad for the future of movies, because perhaps they reference movies for inspiration they liked that used the same ploy.

I see your point. Many here are already claiming it'll be better than singer's movies when they've only seen some pics and two trailers

^^
All I am saying is that I love the stuff I've seen!! I have no way of knowing how the actual movie will compare with X1 and X2...but based on what I've seen, I'm willing to bet anyone $1 it will be great!! (If that is considered on-line gambling then make it with Monopoly money.) Then we can come back May 27th and see who was right? :D

Id be more blank slate overall about this films early impressions if it werent for these situation problems.. that have piled up. X3 has lots of circumstances trademark of bad films...one of the worst tallys ive seen, however if someone plugged into the film notices them the movie can be good. We have no idea whats going on behind the scenes. I cant predict the future, so I will wait and see for the final verdict, unlike some who say it positively will suck.

But as a rule of thumb.. whenever a crew says "we like to keep the pace up and not have it drag"... hit the deck heh ;) Well see...

I can see your point about playing it safe and not getting your hopes up, because I was turned off on CBMs going back to Tim Burton's "Batman." (Joker/Prince music video sequence almost killed me.) So I gave up on them for a LONG TIME!! The first X-movie was the first one I liked since then, and I liked X2 even better! :D

Prince doing the soundtrack to BATMAN was one of the most painful moments in cinematic history

Once again that was the studio heh... but imo Tim Burton was talented enough to carry the flick... that is one of the solid batman films imo. Tons of reviews say it was great for the right reasons.

i havent been brainwashed by the PR yet, but i think i will be after May 26 :o
im sad for being that weak, but i know myself, and unless the film becomes somekind of FF or one of the Batmans (and i include Begins in here, its terrible), i will love this movie. :(

LOL, sounds like you are a victim of PR logic!! ;)
P.S. That was just a joke!! :D Thanks for the polite debate, take care I am outta here for now!! :)

If Fox refuses to show the movie to anyone, even the critics, before the release date, then it'll be bad. The Avengers (think British tv show-turned-Hollywood movie) bad.

I was thinking that lol. Critics see through spin much more than average folks so if a flicks incredibly bad, its kryptonite since they have audience pull also heh. Backfire! Mediocre films get shown to critics tho.

The FF movie is perfect proof of this. FF fans should have been outraged and have marched unto 20th Century Fox studios and set the building on fire for what they did to Doctor Doom, but no, there are still thousands of PR-brainwashed suckers who think that the FF movie wasn't that bad, despite the fact that it was truly horrible.

Oh my god i dont think i have seen a truer statement in my life, over on the FF boards they act like the movie is a master piece and they are very, VERY protective of it. I said to them if i had been an FF fan for 20, 30, 40 years i would be outraged, but they just said the sequel will be better!!!!!!!Get a ****ing clue, its being made by the same people who did the terrible first movie.

I think a lot of people are prepping themselves for dissapointment by being so optimistic for this movie. Things i've seen and heard lately have made me more optimistic, but i am pretty sure this will be a bad movie. You talk about what the actors and crew are saying, "Its the best of 3" "Its bigger than anything i have done previously". They are supposed to say **** like that. They are not going to come out in interviews and say " Well i think the movie will be terrible, i had a good time making it and a good paycheck, but the movie will be bad." They will never say that, ever.

I do really hope that this movie is good, or even better great, if it is, i will eat my words and be very happy too, but i think i will be right, and that is something i do not want.

I don't think X3 will be as bad as the FF movie, but I think it will suck no matter what. Even if the story ends up being pretty good after all, against all odds, the costume design, hair styles, general look of the film and cinematography are sub-standard to say the least. And the fact that Cyclops and Prof X freakin' DIE, and that Mystique, Jean and Magneto probably die as well, make this ill-conceived film a franchise-destroyer for certain. :o

You haven't seen the damn movie yet. Don't act as if you did.

Dude, the trailer shows Cyclops and Prof X getting killed by Phoenix, just as the early script review said. There's even a scene of everyone at Xavier's funeral.

No, they show the same setup. They don't show Phoenix killing any of those 2. (Although, I may come to a compromise about Xavier, as I'm convinced he's a goner)

Although, if Phoenix "snaps out of it" near the end, and sacrifices her life in order to bring everyone who died back to life and destroy all of the Sentinels (if there are Sentinels), my opinion of X3 will definitely change. It's amazing how a great, kickass ending can save an otherwise lame movie. ;)

I have to say, I don't what to think of X3. I stil remain cautiously optimistic..

Here's my prediction: I think X3 will have it's share of fans. I think that I feel that it's a good movie, but given more time, it could be a better movie. So bascially, I'm thinking that X3 will work, with the schedule that Ratner had.

BUT I think it's going to be like Terminator 3, which had a similar situation: A different creative team. and look how that movie looked COMPARED to the first 2.

Will X3 be like Terminator 3? I don't know. But I'm keeping my expectations low. Trust me, after some dissapointments (Cyclops role, no Gambit or Nightcrawler), I'm prepared.

i just had the misfortune to finally see Revenge of the Sith... Utterly soulless, very poor characterisation, very little emotional content and Palpatine becoming like an evil cartoon/pantomime villain with the grimacing and cackling and the silly voice. Opening straight into frenetic action was a bad move, and there was far too much light-sabre fighting, it started to become meaningless; and Anakin's turning to the dark side was done in such a casual, perfunctory fashion with no real emotion. What a letdown. :down

Made X1 and X2 look UTTERLY MAGNIFICENT in their character-driven sci-fi drama; let's hope Brett keeps the faith with X3 and that he doesn't look to Revenge of the Sith for any inspiration.

Yes it just sucked sooo bad it made 300 million+
Sorry but I disagree with just about everything you say about Revenge of the Sith.

I am sorry you didn't like it and there were parts I was not to happy with but overall I thought it was a decent closing to the story and a well made movie.
Bashing it for parts you didn't like does not change the facts more people liked the movie than didn't like it.

Well, IF Cyclops does get demolecularized (which I don't believe he will be), I hope Jean's psychic connection with him could bring him back.
