Worst Lines/Dialogue in Movies

I actually like that exchange a lot. What people around here don't seem to understand is that Raimi (Like Lucas, who couldn't pull it off) was shooting for an old-fashioned sense of melodramatic romance. He's paying homage to old Hollywood love stories. Hence, the dialogue reflects this actually quite nicely. However, because its unabashedly sentimental and slightly corny people graon and proclaim "THATS NOT COOOL! SPiDERMan IS SuPOSED To BE AWeSOME!.!".

Raimi succeeded in doing that really great. That's part of the reason that my parents and grandparents loved that movie so much and it made such a truckload of money. It spoke to multiple generations of film lovers in a way that Hollywood usually ignores by focusing solely at pleasing hip, cynical teens/20-somethings who can't appreciate writing that isn't drenched in "cool" irony or, the most dreaded of all, "realistic".
That's all well and good when a good actor is doing it, but Tobey Maguire managed to make it 10x more corny that it should've been.

Hmm. Interesting. Never thought of that before. He could also be paying homage to the 60's era of the comics, which is where Raimi drew the most from.

The thing is, doing something on purpose doesn't make it good. It was still cringeworthy.

How else would of he gone about it then? He's struggling to find the right words and it's on the spot. The nice things about it it doesn't seem rehearsed at all from Peter or Maguire and if they went too far with that aspect it would of been unrealistic. It just looks more natural to me.

But I'll bet your grandparents would love it.:oldrazz:

And, just to tie the two ends together, Stan Lee's writing was heavily influenced by early Hollywood films such as the early Errol Flynn films and so forth. Hence, the old Hollywood sensibility is carried into his 60's-era Spider-Man comics and then appropriated by Raimi into the films 40 years later.

You don't think the dialogue was unnatural in the slightest?

Not really in The Dark Knight.Batman Begins, I didn't mind as much as others how most of the dialogue was speeches. Only real time it felt unnatural was when Katie Holmes spoke at times.

Nice, even better.

Blade Trinity:

Triple H- "When did you see my ****?"

Kicks Hannibal King in the face.

Parker Posey- "Would everyone stop saying the word "***"? It provokes my envy."

...WHAT?!?

It's a reference to Penis Envy, one of Freud's theories.

Wikipedia said:
Penis envy in Freudian psychoanalysis refers to the theorized reaction of a girl during her psychosexual development to the realization that she does not have a penis. Freud considered this realization a defining moment in the development of gender and sexual identity for women. According to Freud, the parallel reaction in boys to the realization that girls do not have a penis is castration anxiety.

In contemporary culture, the term is sometimes used symbolically or metaphorically to refer to the idea that women wish they had a penis, or to refer to anxieties between men about the size of their genitals.

"You are such an ***hole."

Ugh. Akermann was terrible in Watchmen...turrrribbble.

Yeah, that's what I had against some of the actors and Snyder. It was obvious Malin didn't read the book and Snyder had no idea know how to direct a few characters.

All I remember about the dialogue in Blade:Trinity was, if you removed the word "f**k," the script would have been about three pages long.

I still can't believe David S. Goyer wrote Batman Begins. After The Unborn, he should be castrated. The only redeeming thing was Odette Yusman's body.

Cotton Mouth:Silly Rabbit...
The Bride:Tricks are for--
Cotton Mouth:Kids.

Just... yeah. Can't think of much else right now.

Yeah, Malin's line there was her worst I thought.

And did anyone notice she didn't cry? Not one tear. She says it in the comic "You see? No tears nothing." But when she finally does, there's no tears!

I thought "Oh my god! I'm on Mars!" was about as bad as you can get.

She definitely made every scene she was in very awkward to watch.

Yeah. Also, I thought Carla Gugino was worse than Malin. She delivered each line like she was about to cry(way too over the top) and had to play the silliest alcoholic I've ever seen.

Ah.. but that is the point of Planet Terror and Death Proof.

See, Planet Terror got it right, grindhouse dialogue is supposed to be bad, but you're supposed to laugh at it. With Death Proof, it's a bunch of chicks talking about stuff completely irrelevant to the film for the whole duration.

How many Tarantino flicks have you seen? It's pretty much his gimick.

I thought the first half of DP was great but then it just went downhill during the second half.

A lot of people say that, but I just don't get what was so different between the first half and second other than that the latter doesn't redeem the first.

Yeah, agreed. Death Proof was crap. I remember Mr. Cranky said it was like watching an episode of The View only with more profanity. LOL
